May Newsletter It looks like summer is on its way!! With warm spring weather upon us, both programs will be starting class outside regularly. Please ensure your child comes with sunscreen already applied, proper attire for weather conditions including a hat. If your child is dropped off unprepared it may result in them missing out on fun activities. Each child should have sunscreen and a hat left in their cubby until the end of the summer season. All clothing and sunscreen MUST BE LABLED!! In the summer months, water play is a must!! Please make sure your child has a spare change of clothing at the centre at all times for such occasions. Also, as many of you already know our playground can get quite dusty so please make sure your child wears “play Clothes” to daycare as they are bound to get dirty. We will never restrict a child’s play because they are in “dress clothes.” Keeping your children safe is our #1 priority. We ask that you always close the gates behind you. In the summer months we leave the front door open on occasion and the gates are the only barrier between your child and the street. Shoes Shoes Shoes! It is very important to outfit your child with proper footwear for daycare. Closed toe shoes are a mandatory requirement for both inside and outside play. Our playground is pea gravel and it is bothersome to the children when they have to keep stopping to pull rocks out of there shoes. Shoes such as sandals and flip flops leave feet exposed and vulnerable to being stepped on or having something dropped on them. Open toe shoes, flip flops and sandals are a huge safety hazard and are not allowed! Velcro or slip-on running shoes are the best type of footwear for daycare. Children are required to put their own shoes on and off, so lace up shoes are discouraged unless your child can tie them on their own. New and revised policies are common in our daycare centre as we are ever developing and changing. Please make sure to frequently review the handbook to make sure you are familiar with all policies and procedures. (3-5 side)Back and forth books are expected to come back to school. We will not be giving out any paperwork, forms or messages without them. If you do not return your child’s back and forth book you will be missing out on vital information such as field trip info and clothing inventory slips. Reminders: • Please check the lost and found regularly. • Teachers are not responsible for lost items, so label all clothing and personal belongings.
