Apollo is the son of Leto and Zeus. He has a twin sister which name are the chaste huntress Artemis. Apollo is well-known in Greek-influenced Etruscan mythology as Apulu. His twin sister is the goddess of the hunt. As the god of sun and light, Apollo moved the sun with his chariot and golden horses.

Birth of Apollo: When Zeus’ wife Hera knew that Leto was pregnant, she banned Leto from giving birth on Terra Firma island. In search of another place, Leto found the newly created floating island of Delos. It was neither mainland nor a real island. She gave birth there, and it accepted by the people. She promised them that her son

would always be favorable toward the city. After that, Zeus secured Delos to the bottom of the ocean.

This island later became holy to Apollo.It is also saying that Hera kidnapped Eileithyia, to stop Leto from going into labor. Mythographers agree that Artemis was born first and then assisted with the birth of Apol lo. The Artemis was born one day before Apollo on the Ortygia island.

The youth of Apollo: Apollo killed the chthonic dragon Python four days after his birth, which lived in Delphi next to the Castalian Spring. Hera sent the serpent to kill Leto . Apollo requested Hephaestus for a bow and arrows to protect his mother. After receiving bow and arrows, Apollo cornered Python in the sacred cave at Delphi. Afer that Hera sent the giant Tityos to rape Leto. This time Apollo helped by his sister Artemis in protecting their mother.

Temple of Apollo: Many temples were devoted to Apollo in Greece and the Greek colonies. They show the spread of the religion of Apollo and the evolution of the Greek architecture, which based on the rightness of form and mathema tical relations.
