THE PINION OPTION
PINION OPTION
A couple of NICOLAI models can be equipped with a Pinion gearbox. The gearbox is integrated into the bicycle frame and it requires almost no maintenance. The center of gravity is perfectly balanced in the middle of the frame and the lighter rear wheel has a positive influence on handling, the riding dynamics and rear-end suspension performance. The transmission responds instantaneously to switching gears. The following gearbox options are available.
Viele NICOLAI Modelle können auf Anfrage mit einer Getriebebox der Pinion GmbH ausgestattet werden. Das Getriebe ist wartungsarm und optimal in den Fahrradrahmen integriert. Der zentrale Schwerpunkt und das leichtere Hinterrad bringen spürbar Vorteile beim Handling, der Fahrdynamik und der HinterbauPerformance. Das Getriebe reagiert blitzschnell auf Schaltbefehle. 142X12 BOLT-THROUGH SYSTEM
142X12 STECKACHSEN
Most NICOLAI frames come with the 142 x 12mm bolt-through system as standard. Bolt through hubs are stiffer than quick release hubs. The NICOLAI bolt through system is designed around the 142 x 12mm standard. Rear hubs with this standard have a hollow axle with an outer diameter of 18 to 20mm and an inner diameter of 12mm. The thru axle is attached to the drop out which makes it an integral part of the rear end. This results in the whole rear end of the bike becoming considerably stiffer. Other rear axle systems use a fine pitch thread. The NICOLAI design comes with a regular metric 12mm thread that allows an easy hassle-free mounting even in sandy or muddy conditions. The only tool required is a 6mm Allen key. If the axle should seize after a long period of non-use or if the 6mm inner socket is worn out the NICOLAI axle can also be released and mounted with a 17mm wrench. The NICOLAI bolt through system is fully compatible with the ROCK SHOX Rear Maxle® standard. On most of our frames we still offer the choice between quick release dropouts and bolt through dropouts.
Wir liefern die meisten NICOLAI Rahmen serienmäßig mit Steckachse aus. Steckachsen sind stabiler und steifer als Schnellspann-Achsen. Hinterradnaben für diesen Standard haben Hohlachsen mit etwa 18 bis 20mm Außendurchmesser sowie 12mm Innendurchmesser. Die Hohlachse wird mit Hilfe der Steckachse mit den Ausfallenden des Rahmens verschraubt. Die Hinterradnabe hat damit eine tragende Funktion. Das grobe Gewinde unserer Steckachsen läßt sich auch auf Schlammtrails, im Gegensatz zu normalen feineren Gewinde, noch leicht verschrauben. Das Werkzeug auf dem Trail dafür: ein 6mm Inbusschlüssel. Ist die Schraube überdreht oder festkorrodiert, kann man die Achse auch mit einem 17mm Maul/Ring-Schlüssel lösen und fixieren. NICOLAI-Steckachsen sind voll kompatibel mit dem Rear-Maxle-Standard von ROCK SHOX. Bei den meisten Rahmen besteht natürlich noch die Möglichkeit zwischen 10mm Schnellspann-Ausfallenden und 12mm SteckachsAusfallenden zu wählen.
