Author, Doctor, Teacher, Healer! Judith Orloff MD. Board certified psychiatrist who utilizes energy as medicine. She is a Spiritual Teacher, an author of five books with her newest issue Ecstasy of Surrender. Interviewed by Tony Camacho WP: I want to start where I start

with everybody, at the very beginning and I want to get just a little bit of the history of what it was like to be a little Dr. Judith Orloff, before you were the doctor of course.

JO: Yes. I grew up in Los Angeles

and I was an intuitive child. I would have premonitions and I would know things and predict things that will happen, like deaths and illnesses and earthquakes. In the very first beginnings, I was born pretty much with the ability and always a deep connection to spirit and the unknown. I just came in that way, my parents were both physicians and I have 25 physicians in my family. My parents got very afraid of my premonitions and they told me at age 11 never to mention another one of them again at home. So I grew up believing something was wrong with me. So part of my healing path has been coming into my intuition and integrating it with being a physician and being a woman.

WP: It’s a common story that many

parents don’t know how to handle these gifts in their children. We hear our parents say, “that is very imagina-

tive” or “creative”. They don’t know how to help facilitate your experience and then you are left feeling that there is an issue here.

JO: Oh! I thought there was some-

thing wrong with me; I thought I was causing the events I was predicting. I didn’t realize that tragedies were just easier for children to pick up. So I got heavily involved with drugs in the late 60’s and tried to run from my abilities and squash them. In my first book, Second Sight I wrote about how I went over a cliff in Topanga in a car and went over eight times in the middle of the night and got catapulted into a tunnel where I was unscathed and kept safe. It was after that, my parents forced me to see a psychiatrist and it was the psychiatrist who encouraged me to develop my intuition. I had a near death experience at age 16 that transformed me and from that point on I began to integrate intuition and then a few years later I had a dream; a night dream, that told me to become an M.D to be able to able to have the credentials to legitimize intuition into medicine.

WP: An amazing experience. So in

terms of your childhood, do you have siblings?

JO: No WP: So it was just you, mom and dad the physicians, who of course wanted you to be a physician.

JO: No. No, they never encouraged

me to be a physician. I was terrible in science, I wasn’t scientific and I didn’t like it. They saw it wasn’t my nature. I had a dream that told me to become a doctor. When I told my parents about the dream, my mother said “really, think about this, you are terrible in science, you don’t like it, why would you want to do this”?

WP: So that was the turning point

for you, in terms of going to Medical schools

JO: Yes. That was a surrender, be-

cause I didn’t think I would like it either. Because I was more creative, a writer and always on the edge but I surrendered enough to enroll in one course in Santa Monica college and one became two and then became 14 years in medical training. So the surrender is that sometimes you don’t have to be 100% convinced but just take the action towards letting go and if there is energy there, your destiny will kick in.

WP: You’ve been a blessed woman.

WP: So coming out of high school,

So, as you were going through college, finishing your undergrad and into medical school, what was transpiring for you in the way of connecting with your gifts? Were you using them more or just taking small steps to discover?

JO: When I was in college I began

seeing Dr. Thelma Moss, who helped me enormously. She was a parapsychologist at UCLA and she asked me to be a volunteer in her lab. She encouraged me to develop my intuition; she was a mentor who encouraged me to develop my abilities, so I became more comfortable with them.

WP: What a gift. So how did you connect with her? Was it someone you read about or did someone direct you to her.

JO: The psychiatrist I was seeing sent me to her. He saw my abilities and saw how scary it was for me and was smart enough to connect me with Dr. Thelma Moss. So it was through this amazing psychiatrist that I found Thelma.

WP: What a wonderful gift that was on both levels.

JO: Oh yes, because most psychiatrist would have just medicated me.

WP: How did you deal, with being

a Medical doctor but also reconciling with this part of you that was also intuitive?

JO: I love medicine, I am a real doctor. I love helping people, I love traditional medicine. I have ultimate respect for my medical colleagues. I don’t see it as a battle.

WP: Are you ever approached by peo-

ple asking you if you believe the stuff you see, how do you speak about it?

JO: Oh, All the time. People are

blind and asleep and I understand that about humanity. My goal is to help wake people up if they want to be woken up but if they don’t that’s ok. I don’t look at it as my job to fix people. But what I found is that so many people are attracted to me and want to learn this, so I am fine working with those who want to be woken up and learn.

WP: And that has escalated, as time

turned out so very different. It’s amazing how someone with a little knowledge and wisdom can direct you to the right path

my path; these people were guides who directed me in the right direction when I didn’t know where I was going. I have had that throughout my life.

WP: Do you think this is also true

WP: So tell me a little bit more of

JO: I have seen that. There is a sto-

JO: No. I never married. I don’t have any children but I did have a lot of boyfriends. I mainly worked, I threw myself into my medical career, I was on call every third night and on weekends I would go to the clubs downtown. I would have this alternate identity and I would never say I was a doctor or a psychic, because I wanted to meet guys and that’s really a double whammy. I would say I was an artist or an assistant or something like that, so I could have that free space of not having a label on me. It’s hard for a woman to be a psychiatrist and a psychic, very hard with men. People always think I am going to read them, but I don’t. I have no interest in it, it takes an energy shift in me and I rather not read them, I don’t want to know information about people, unless I am working with them.

WP: While we are on this topic,

how do messages come to you? How do you gather your information?

JO: Well, I am an Empath. As an

Empath, I can sense energy in other people and their bodies. I can read their energy bodies and chakras. As an Empath, I tend to absorb that energy into my body which can make me very tired and sick. So in my book, Ecstasy of Surrender I explain how not to do that. I explain how you can be sensitive and open and intuitive, without absorbing energy into your body and that has been a very important skill for me. There are such things as empathic illnesses, where Empaths literally takes on the illnesses of other people. Traditional medicine do not address this, so I wanted to address it in the surrender book so that people know what to let go off and that they are not crazy, not making it up, but you have to learn skills not to do that.

WP: Would you say that is very common for an animal to take on the illness of a person?

JO: Animals are very loving; they are master teachers of unconditional love. Animals are very empathic, you can talk to them easily without them judging you. If you are sad, they will stay beside

you. Animal companions are a huge source of relationships.

WP: Do you have pets? JO: Not at the moment. I longed for

one again, I had a soul mate dog for many years that got me through medical school, I took her everywhere with me. But with all my traveling and things to take care of, I don’t have time to take care of a dog but I do hope to have one again. I love animals and nature. My power animal is a Jaguar that patrols my energy and dream space. That is one big way I protect myself from absorbing other people energy. Part of being an Empath is protecting your energy by setting clear limits and boundaries with people, it is very important. Empaths need a lot of quiet, they refuel alone and they do not refuel with other people. They don’t like noise, smells or excessive talking.

WP: So you have had a number of amazing books, how many?

JO: The Ecstasy of Surrender is number 5

WP: And the title to your first was?

JO: Second Sight. The second sight chronicles my intuitive journey as a child and how I integrated intuition as a psychiatrist.

WP: What was it that initially inspired you to write the first book?

JO: I wanted to tell my story to help

people. So people who are psychic or intuitive don’t think they are crazy or squashing their abilities, so they can be free with it and not hold that energy down. I have a lot of strong messages to communicate to people, so they can build their sensitivities and not squash it, because I think its sensitive people who will save the world. You have to surrender to your intuition, you can’t keep second guessing yourself. That won’t serve

you in your life and so part of the Ecstasy of surrender is learning how to surrender to your intuition and notice any blocks that is stopping you from doing that, because it’s not serving you to have that.

got to take a stand now and surrender, you cannot wait. There is a sense of urgency because we may destroy the planet or the earth can become so angry, it can get rid of us.

WP: I think in some respect we’ve self to the essence of who you are, to the bigger you, the authentic you.

JO: To the bigger you and to know

that you are just not your linear mind. To know, that you are able to tap into all levels of reality. There is a chapter in the book on the art of reading people, where I teach people how to do remote viewing, which is an intuitive technique to read people and also how to read emotional energy and body language. I really believe every day people need these skills, especially health care practitioners; they desperately need those skills to read their patients and help them.

WP: Do you see that coming about

soon? People in the health care field looking at their patient energetically or intuitively?

JO: Yes. I teach this to health care

practitioners. I have a CD called “Becoming and Intuitive Healer” and I am having a two day workshop on July 25th to the 27th so that they can learn this skill. They must, and so many want to! So many practitioners have the desire to learn

WP: What do you see happening to the planet, in terms of the awakening process?

JO: I have deep belief on the indi-

vidual awakening and the power of individual awakening one by one, igniting the greater flame. But, this is Earth. This is a very unconscious, dark planet and individuals are changing and if enough individuals change, it will change the tipping point so that we keep the forces towards the light. There is a quickening that is happening, things are changing, you

JO: I am doing a bunch of CD’s with Hayhouse and an online course in September also with Hayhouse on surrender, mindfulness and intuition. I am continuing to embrace my devotional path to surrendering my life. I just want to go with the flow of my life and tune in deeper into my intuition everyday and trust it and spend a lot of time around the ocean because I love it and it’s my teacher and it helps me to surrender and listen. I am quite confident if I continue to listen deeply to myself I will be on the most passionate and incredible path. I don’t like to plan a lot, I would just rath-

er let life unfold, I am happy with that!

WP: It reminds me of something

Dr. Joe Vitale said, he shared that he has been planning and planning and many wonderful things have happened but he finally has gotten to the point where he recognized that he is just here and being invited to do the dance, and he doesn’t know what dance step he is being invited to do.

JO: Exactly. But the one thing I am

fascinated with and want to devote time to is the surrender of relationships and learning more and understanding the deep feminine and masculine and how that inter relates to romantic relationships. I am very interested in that because I put that part of my life aside for a long time just because of my career and writing.

WP: I wanted to ask you, how did the workshop go at the Gateway last week?

JO: Oh, Fantastic! The power of

The women were especially interested in the section of the book, about surrendering your attraction to unavailable people. Because a lot of women and men choose unavailable people and keep hoping it will work out but the person is not available, so it is not going to work out. So I teach about how to let go of the pattern that keep you from love. You do not want to search for love, you want to remove the pattern that keep you from love and one of those is being attracted to unavailable people or confusing lust for love. Another is being attracted to narcissist people who are incapable of empathy or love.

WP: Aren’t we in a way, always reaching out for love?

The Medical Intuitive Corner By Robin Sage , Medical Intuitive

asks Robin Sage, Medical Intuitive, about her fertility issues, which turns out to be much more than that. Medical Issue: Infertility Patient: Paula (anonymous name) Paula’s Partner: Pete (anonymous name)

When I looked at Paula energetically over the phone I saw a grey energy in her womb and in her heart. I saw that Paula has a propensity toward men who are incapable of being fully present to her. When I looked at the man with whom she is trying to make a baby, I saw Pete with one channel of energy running from himself into another situation and another channel of energy running from himself into Paula. This means that Pete is divided and has beans cooking in another pot. The energetic “picture” also showed Pete really trying to please Paula in a sticky, syrupy kind of way. In other words, he wants to please her but he can’t and is therefore giving her lip service. To spell it our succinctly, Paula’s so called baby maker is just telling her what she wants to hear. Such as, “Yes, I want to have a child with you and get married.” Paula then told me that her partner Pete has not yet divorced his previous wife. She said she has been pulling

teeth trying to get him to do so, but that he has been resisting it as he has children with the other woman and perhaps more... I asked Paula how this makes her feel. I asked her if it makes her feel like his queen. She said, “No, it makes me feel bad.” Bad and sad feelings get stored in the physical body as dark and destructive energy. The grey energy that I saw in Paula will keep her from getting pregnant as it affects her womb physically as well as her heart. Paula also told me that her womb is deformed which can cause difficulty regarding pregnancy. I rest my case. So what can Paula do? The bottom line is that sweet Paula needs to learn how to love herself more. When she does, it is energetic law that that which is on her outside (such as men) will reflect that which is on her inside. In other words, when she loves herself more she will attract men who are also more loving. Loving means present, able to

commit, healthy, honest, etc. The most important thing to female energy is a love relationship. If a woman denies this, she is not in touch with her feminine energy. When a woman is undermined by her love partner it feels like a grave threat to her survival. When this happens it is the female part of the body; breasts, ovaries, womb and vagina that are affected first. This is why so many women have breast, uterus and ovarian cancer. Not to mention urinary tract infections and vaginal candida. If a woman does not feel like a queen in her relationship, she cannot thrive as a woman. She must either leave the relationship or slowly die one cell at a time. Although the human body is quite complex it is also quite simple. Happy moments make you thrive and unhappy moments make you die. That is why you must see every situation as a blessing AND move on when necessary. As Albert Einstein said, “You cannot repeat the same ac-

tions and hope for a different response. That is the definition of insanity.” Most people believe that they love themselves. What you have to understand is that there are varying degrees or percentages of love. For example, if you stay with a person who lies or does not follow through with their word, that is an unloving act toward yourself. Perhaps your self-love registers at 50%. If you learn how to focus on yourself and constantly feed yourself praise, affirmation, healthy food, exercise and love, your percentages are going to raise to 100%! Each one of us is a work in progress. Always go toward the light in every situation and you will be blessed. This does not mean being out of your body and blissed out. This means being present, grounded and at the same time moving toward the light, as this is where you will find love. Love must always be ignited inside of yourself first, and then it will be brought to you in a multitude of situations on the outside. If I have learned anything as an energy reader it is this energetic law; you must love yourself and to the exact degree that you love yourself you will find people who love you. Life is not haphazard but is extremely precise. Do you love yourself unconditionally or do you love yourself only if you do, x, y, and z perfectly? From the Gospel of Thomas 70, Jesus said, “If you bring forth what is within you, what you have will save you. If you do not have that within you, what you do not have within you will kill you.”

JO: I think to start the surrendering process, take a deep breath and relax your muscles and be in the moment. Drink a beautiful glass of sacred water and savor it. Let yourself laugh deeply, let yourself cry and not choke it off and surrender to the sense of Grace and Angels all around you and not block it off with your linear mind. Just celebrate the moment as much as you can, because it will be over soon.

hen someone we

love dies, our world is changed. The routines of

life are disrupted and grief can become all consuming. The pain of separation is most poignantly expressed with the question, “How can I go on?” In considering this hard question, I was inspired to have a conversation with a mother whose son committed suicide nine years ago at the age of twenty three. I first came to know this mother (who we will call Jillian) as a client. I witnessed her educating herself about spirit communication as a means for moving through her own grief. In this excerpt from a longer interview she shares the extraordinary connection with her son in spirit which has not only helped her to go on, but to help others who are suffering as well. This is an abridged version of the interview.

Hollister: What suggestions do you have for someone who is dealing with grief?

Jillian: Soon after my son died, I did what was familiar. Every night I would go to Topanga which was his home surf break and I would just sit and meditate. No matter how bad it was during the day, I knew that I would be able to speak with my son in the evening. Being in his favorite place helped immensely. It became a ritual. There’s also something wonderful about the vastness of the ocean. I knew that I was a small and ephemeral part of something so much bigger and greater.

Hollister: Would you share with me one way in particular that he’s used 27 to demonstrate his presence?

Hollister: During these visits did you always feel your son’s presence or were there moments when he seemed far away? Jillian: I think that I always believed that he was there, but the loneliness was very intense at times as well. Hollister: That’s interesting. So there would be two things operating at once - - the sense and belief that your son was there, even while you were feeling physical loneliness. Grief can sometimes be a bundle of contradictions! Are there specific ways that your son has chosen to let you know that he’s around? Jillian: My son uses the number 27 in amazing ways. It was an important number for him when he

Jillian: In one really incredible experience, I was sitting in the Rodin garden in France with a friend of mine when a little kid ran up to me four times and counted aloud in French. I thought, How cute that he wants to show me what he can do. Although I was startled by the fact that his eyes looked exactly like my son’s, I was ready to just accept this as a nice experience until my friend pointed out that the young boy was counting to 27, repeatedly. Hollister: Wow! I love this story because it shows how the spirits can influence people to make their presence known to us - - especially the young who are often very open. It is also important to notice that the spirits sometimes seem to communicate with numbers, letters and other symbols. Have you had any physical manifestations? Jillian: The first was actually on the night he died. That night a loud noise woke me up and I sat up in bed. My son was standing in my bedroom door in one of his favorite pairs of shorts and said, “Don’t worry, Momma. Go back to sleep; ev-

Hollister: You really thought it was him? Jillian: Yes. I didn’t realize until morning that it was a gunshot that woke me up, not just a loud noise. In thinking back, it was as though he decided to stop and say goodbye to Mom one last time. Later I realized that this was his way of relieving me of any kind of guilt or sense of responsibility for his death. That conversation means so much to me because it was another way he expressed his love before leaving. Hollister: In what other ways has your son demonstrated that he’s around? Jillian: Ummm . . . I could go on forever. In the first month after he was gone, I had two phone calls from him. I heard his voice, whispery and guttural, but they were definitely messages from him. The first time I heard, “Mom, Mom, Mom. I love you.” The next time it was a whispered, “Momma.” If I wanted to hear one thing, that was what I wanted to hear.

erything is all right.” He kissed me on the forehead. In the morning I found that he had died. He was dressed, not in the shorts I saw him in, but another pair altogether. At the time of his death, his appearance was instantaneous (and he had even managed to change clothes).

Hollister: Could you have imagined that you received these messages? Maybe there was a bit of wishful thinking? Jillian: I could have doubted myself except that there were others present - - fortunately. Hollister: Your son’s ability to make himself known is truly spectacular. I wish that everyone could have the same types of experiences. Unfortunately this isn’t the case. Why is it that you have such an unusually strong connection with your son? Jillian: I think that some of it is because we are both naturally sensitive and the rest is because we both learned as much as we could about the afterlife and spirit communication. Hollister: I think that’s important for people to know that despite all these incredible communications from your son, you still miss him. Jillian: Yes, I think about him every day and have the sense that he is always with me. I can’t say that missing someone you love ever really goes away. I think it is more about managing grief and living a life that honors the person you love.

day task like eating and is just as important. Correction in this context means to alter one’s choice and behavior that raises one’s vibration. This means to be self-aware of your actions as much as possible and consciously watch your thoughts, choose your feelings, and take the wisest action possible in each circumstance. To be empowered, we must own our behaviors and not blame anyone for our actions. That means never telling anyone again “they made you mad”. It means, you must look inward first, not outside yourself, and find what triggers your anger and just get rid of it. However or wherever we learned a block-like behavior, it is in us, and it is our responsibility to own and change it. That means no blaming mom or dad for your block-like behavior traits that you may have thought you inherited. No matter where we picked up our blocks from, once they are in us, they become only our responsibility to clean up, not any on else’s. For example, that means not blaming your alcoholic parent for your anger problem. That means not blaming your impatience on the driver who just cut you off on the freeway. That means not raising your blood pressure when someone lies to you and you know it. It means staying calm amidst the storm instead of becoming part of it. Let’s explore the cycle of stages of natural remedies for how we consciously correct our blocks: Stages of Conscious Correction: Stage Zero - Unaware of your blocks or are in denial, and not concerned with changing your behavior. This stage is considered ground zero unfortunately because it is the “norm” that most people operate from and this must change now! It is the classic unconscious where one is either unaware of their block, or someone points out their block and they deny or refuse to see it, and they are not concerned with changing and up-leveling their behavior. People with this low-level vibration act without regard for others (hi-

ego) or their self (low-ego) that is either selfish or out-of-balance selfless. People in stage zero are unaware how much their blocks damage and injure others and themselves. They are asleep at the wheel of life, repeat the same patterns, don’t learn the lessons they are here to learn, and miss seeing that their behavior is an unconscious cause of their own suffering and how their behavior causes others to suffer, and they are usually unhappy people. If you find yourself here, please proceed to Stage One. Stage One: Catch your block late (better late than never) by first, yourself, or secondly, your block is brought to your awareness by a loved one. e.g.: You bite or pick at your nails because you judge yourself as not good enough or turn negativity inward and notice you hide your fingers in shame so others do not notice; you look at your fingers afterwards and wish you had not done that. Stage Two: Catch your block in the midst of feeling or expressing it (anger, guilt, fear, anxiety, impatience, jealousy, etc.). e.g.: You yell at someone you love and while you are yelling, you wish you could say it lovingly instead. Stage Three: Rinse out your block. You cannot heal what you cannot feel. If you cannot just drop your block, then express it responsibly until there is no more heat, energy, or button in you to trigger this block. e.g.: If you get upset, it is better to scream at a picture of a divine soul who can help you supernaturally or write out your anger and burn the paper rather than dump your anger like trash, on any person. Stage Four: Catch the block before you express it and consciously choose a higher vibrational feeling to replace the lower vibration block. e.g.: You are waiting in a long line at the grocery store and none of the lanes are moving fast enough. Instead of telling the cashier to hurry up as you feel impatient, just move to another line, talk with a neighbor in line and create some fun conversation to shift the attention and energy, or meditate to more usefully invest your time.

Stage Five: Catch the block at the thought level before you feel it. e.g.: When someone does something you do not like, as you are thinking about how to respond, instead of choosing to be angry, choose the higher path and be calm; doing this will raise your vibration. When you are thinking about how to respond, don’t if it is negative. Stage Six: Catch the block before you have a thought about it. Strengthen your spiritual eye (third-eye) through meditation that will give you more stamina to not absorb negativity and feed your blocks. e.g.: If any negative thoughts start to drift in, kick them out immediately and do not waste any time thinking or entertaining them in your brain. We do become what we think about even though we are not our thoughts. Stage Seven: Set a prevention in place to keep your block from returning and repeating. e.g.: If you get upset at the negativity when you read or watch the news, choose either to not get upset, not read or watch the news, or choose a more positive news source that focuses on truth and love. Stage Eight: Celebrate and rest in heavenly peace on earth while you are selfliberated from your block! Once you or another notices you have broken a block even if it is for the first time, be sure to celebrate! Do something consciously that positively reinforces this new shift. Stage Nine: Repeat this cycle of healing with your other blocks and remember to be patient and forgiving of others and yourself as you and they recycle through these stages. Ho’oponopono Housecleaning for the Soul By Joe Vitale

fter practicing Ho’oponopono for almost 10 years, it’s clear to me that the Hawaiians have a wonderful tool for clearing the data so that we can hear that still, small voice within, whether we call it God, the Divine, or Nature... As you practice Ho’oponopono, you clear the data in your sub-conscious (Unihipili), which frees you to hear the path the Divine has waiting for you. The more you clear the lower self of its programming, the more your higher self (Aumakua) can guide your way.

The more you clean, the more you receive inspiration from the Devine. The only thing to clean is what you feel inside. The only goal is freedomto be at Zero. The world is made up of data, and it’s that data that needs to be cleaned. But we can only perceive all that data from within. In other words, there’s nothing out there. It’s all inside you. That’s where you experience problems-and that’s where the cleaning needs to be done. But what is the right way to clean? If cleaning is the number one most important thing to do and the core of the entire Zero Limits process, how do you do it accurately? Although there’s no one right way to clean, I’ve found these five ideas work well for me and for others who’ve followed them: 1. Notice something wrong. This can be triggered by a thought, another person, an event, or anything else. This is the stimulus. Before Zero Limits, you notice a problem you consider out there. After Zero Limits, you realize the problem is inside. No one can make you mad or upset; you do that inside yourself from what you perceive outside yourself.

This means that if I get an impulse to do something to resolve the perceived problem, I might clean on it three times before I actually take any action. This is a way to ensure the action is coming from inspiration and not memory.

Whatever the case, the first step is to notice you don’t feel good. You’re angry, upset, worried, scared, or any other of a wide range of emotions and feelings that could be labeled as unhappy. 2. Start to clean on the feeling. It’s not about cleaning on the other person, the thought, the situation, or anything out there. Again, the problem is inside. I’m the one aware of a problem. I’m the one who has to clean it. Saying, “I love you,” “I’m sorry,” “Please forgive me,” and, “Thank you,” is the way to clean. You can say them in any order. I say them nonstop in my mind while feeling the problem as I perceive it. And I say them to the Divine. 3. You can use other cleaning methods. For example, my mentor Dr. Hew Len explained blue solar water and how it could help us: “Take a blue glass, any color blue, and pour regular tap water into it. Put the bottle in the sunlight or under a light bulb (not fluorescent light) for 15 to 60 minutes. It will solarize the water. You can add it to your drinking water, or any way that you use water. It’s wonderful if you have pets, and in any cooking you do. I love to put it in my laundry. I even spray my car’s tires before I go on a trip. Blue solar water is a cleaning tool. Drink it or use it any way that you’re using water.” 4. Let go until prompted to take inspired action. Dr. Hew Len once told me that he cleans on a decision three times. If the answer is the same after those cleanings, he takes action on it.

5. Repeat. Everyone wants a shortcut to cleaning and reaching Zero. I do, too. But that very impatience needs cleaning. Wanting something right now is memory playing out, urging us to get instant gratification. It’s data. The Divine has no time and no urgency. Wanting things to unfold faster than they unfold is a wonderful opportunity to clean. I keep cleaning because it makes me feel lighter, happier, and healthier. It’s a fast-track way for me to remove the data in my being so that I can get closer to the Divine. It’s also easy, effortless, and free.

What is Freedom?

From the small personal freedoms to the grander notion of political liberty, freedom is defined as many things.

How is that for a

Many would define freedom simply as not being subject to the will of another-- unimpeded, unrestricted and restrained. But true freedom is not merely to cast off one’s chains of outer bondage or restriction, but rather it is the greatest and most elusive liberty of all - I’m talking about, Inner Freedom. One of the fundamental insights of Vedanta, the five to seven thousand year old ancient Indian Vedic tradition, is the concept of Makti, meaning “freedom”. Vedanta comes from the Sanskrit word Veda, literally translated as “knowledge”. It is an ancient science that teaches us that consciousness is everything, and that our inner realm or consciousness manifests and creates the outer world that we see. If this is so, then real personal, social and political freedoms are all illusionary and impossible to achieve without each of us first finding our own personal Makti, or inner freedom. There can be no greater revolution on the street to bring Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, then the inner revolution that we can have of the mind.

What is this inner revolution? It is an understanding that we are born into this world with absolute and limitless true inner freedom. We are not merely “free to do”, “free to be” or “free from” any of the many things in the external world, but rather that “we are” simply free. We only need open our inner eyes to see it.

Today, principles outlined in ancient Vedas can be heard echoed by such physicists as Michio Kaku, theoretical physicist and pioneer of String Theory, quoted as saying “the universe is a symphony of vibrating strings”, or Amit Goswami, theoretical nuclear physicist, who in his splendid book Quantum Creativity, reminds us that in this ancient, yet new, quantum view of consciousness and reality, the small and solitary life of the individual gives way to the power and immensity of the collective whole.

Our family cat Tuxedo really seems like he is feral - his feral tendencies are very prominent. He always wants out! But we want to make sure he’s safe and secure... Do we really have an “outside cat” who has been kept in? He is a love and his quirky ways are what make him , him, but I would love to know what he wants and truly needs and wants and still be able to keep him safe. Your cat Tuxedo sees himself as a polarized representation of a part wild child ‘James Bond’ aspect of your son, who is sometimes volatile and a bit unpredictable, and also a more peaceful, sometimes even somewhat passive, soft and gentle, yet equally curious and exploratory side of you. As I would translate the information I receive from him, I would describe this as your cat knows himself a demonstration of the differences and simultaneous similarities, between you and your son. And since polar aspects are both exactly the same and also extremely different, your cat is showing you, literally teaching you, how to more fully integrate your whole self, as it is reflected to you in your son and in your cat. He is simultaneously providing this same service for your son.

All three of you are rarely aggressive, but demand your freedom and your bohemian-like ability to do as you like at will, while still finding your way through the confines of the limitations of life’s circumstances; when perceived limitations or outside force of any kind are inflicted upon you or your son, watch out! The fangs come out! Tuxedo is showing you what he is perceiving from each of you, both in different, yet similar ways. In this way, Tuxedo is being of service to you both. Keep in mind that just like the south and north pole, polar aspects need one another to survive, exist and thrive. You and your son are in a mutually beneficial relationship which requires you to co-exist. As to the inquiry of whether or not your cat is feral, as I ask the consciousness of his body this question, he seems to slyly, charasmaticly report that yes, he is, AND at the same time, no, he is not, as if to say: ‘Well, yes, that is of course in my lineage, as all of my ancestors were feral, wild and free...however, I was borne to a human family who couldn’t attend to me and I cer-

tainly do belong here, with this human family and it is my mission and purpose to encourage them to have fun, play and be adventurous, while also reminding them to take equal time to relax, coexist peacefully and tranquilly and also at once to care, be gentle and safe and mind the obvious dangers of physical life so as to always stay out of harms way.” As far as his freedom goes, I highly recommend training him with a long leash and harness so he can still enjoy the outside while well supervised and in highly safe situations. You might want to try speaking to him in calm, relaxing and very short, brief yet firm and direct sentences so that he can understand that it is not his freedom or his enjoyment you are taking from him, in fact, just the opposite, you are giving him more freedom by allowing him to safely play and frolic outside, knowing that with a proper long leash and harness, both will be accomplished.
