curiosity is calling

joy worth seeking
You know the feeling when you discover something new. A song that gets you. A view so stunning you have to share it. A person who makes you laugh so hard you can barely breathe. A new question that leads you on a path of greater understanding.
At Whitworth, seeking stirs us. So we press into our curiosity. The truths we uncover in libraries, laboratories and sanctuaries spur us on to the careers that make a difference.
Every time we discover something new, we wonder what else we can learn.
Let’s get started.

knowledge worth pursuing
Whether your curiosity pushes you to explore psychology, the arts, biotechnology, engineering or finance, we’ll give you the personalized faculty mentorship and experiences to set you on the right path.
DESIGN A ROCKET-HITCHHIKING SATELLITE
All STEM students can participate in WhitSat, a student-led faculty partnership with NASA. Students design and build 4-inch cube satellites to conduct research on cosmic radiation and its impact on the microcontrollers that measure it. When space ready, the CubeSats might catch a free ride to space on a NASA rocket.
INVEST WHITWORTH’S MONEY
Join a team of students from across all majors and grow a portion of Whitworth’s endowment. The Student Investment Group currently manages about $250,000 and has its own trading room on campus.
SEEK YOUR LOUD
Whether your instrument is your violin or voice, join one of our 20 instrumental and vocal ensembles. Our students have traded trumpet lines with Grammy great Terell Stafford and toured across Taiwan.
SHARPEN YOUR FOCUS EACH JAN TERM
Every January, you will take one class for three weeks. You can stay in Spokane and wheel-throw ceramics or design robots in an engineering class. It’s also the perfect time to practice physical therapy in Costa Rica or study Scripture in Greece.
LEARN WHILE SERVING SPOKANE
You’ll have ample opportunities to put your knowledge to work. Help low-income residents file their taxes, paint a community mural, teach local students how to code or create a PR plan for a nonprofit — all as part of your coursework.
CONTINUE CONVERSATIONS OVER COFFEE
We offer free vouchers you can use to treat faculty and staff members to coffee or lunch on campus, because relationships are at the heart of a Whitworth education.
11:1 student-faculty ratio
Swing by your professor’s office and get to know them.
20 average class size
It’s easy to build friendships in and out of the classroom.

COMMUNITY IS NEVE R FAR
Campus may seem quiet on a fall evening, but you’ll soon know better. You’ll find students huddled in a residence hall lounge laughing during trivia or creating songs to remember the answers for a test. They’re sledding in the Back 40, studying in the library, playing intramural volleyball in the rec center and worshipping at Hosanna in the chapel.
At Whitworth, we create the spaces and programs to help you find friends and mentors throughout the school year.
Seek out what Whitworth has to offer. Join a club. Go on an Outdoor Recreation trip. Attend regular hall activities. And discover more of yourself alongside friends you’ll keep for a lifetime.

awe in every moment
You will find evidence of our Christian faith everywhere.
It’s in the hallelujahs of the Whitworth Choir and the light shining through the stained-glass cross in Seeley G. Mudd Chapel. It’s in our Christian professors and the way they care for students. It’s in the sandwiches we make for neighbors and the houses we’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. It’s in the joy we find together — even in late night flag football games and impromptu worship nights. It’s in our searching and seeking. Our desire to care for creation. And our desire to pursue excellence in all we do.
You’ll also find it in our welcome.
Our students come from 40+ countries and 30+ states. They come from cities and rural areas. Christian and non-Christian backgrounds. Whether you’re curious, questioning, or committed to Christ, we have a place for you.

ELEANOR JEFFERS ’24
Eleanor, originally from Columbus, Ohio, is currently a law student at Georgetown University. During her time at Whitworth, she competed regionally and nationally as a member of Whitworth’s championshipwinning Ethics Bowl team, the Philosoraptors. She credits the mentorship and skills she learned with her acceptance at some of the nation’s best law schools.
“I chose Whitworth — despite it being 2,000 miles from home — because there is no other college where professors intentionally invest so much time and energy into their students.”

97%
of our graduates report being employed or in graduate school one year after graduation, which is the highest in Washington state. (Niche)
