THE DUBLIN LEGENDS

Following the sudden death of founding member Barney McKenna in 2012 and John Sheahans’ decision to retire it was agreed that The Dubliners, as a touring band, would come to an end and The Dublin Legends were born. They will, of course, continue to play all the classic songs; Whiskey In The Jar, Dirty Old Town, The Wild Rover, Seven Drunken Nights, Black Velvet Band and many more.

From the producers of the UK tours of The Goon Show and Hancock’s Half Hour comes another radio comedy classic live on stage. From 1965 to 1968 there wasn’t a bigger radio programme in Britain than the groundbreaking Round the Horne. For half an hour every Sunday afternoon, audiences would gather around the wireless to listen to Kenneth Horne and his merry crew get up to all sorts of mischief. So come and take a step back in time to the BBC’s Paris Studios and experience this comedy classic live.

THE MIKADO

Opera South East One of the most humorous operas ever written, The Mikado is always a treat.

It satirises Victorian British society, through a farcical Gilbertian plot brimming with wit and observation. Based on 19th century British society (with many similarities to the 21st century) this is dressed up in a fictionalised exotic locale where flirting is punishable by death. The characters in this production could be traced back to almost anywhere in the world, or, indeed, to the sort of “proto-plasmal primordial atomic globule” from which Pooh Bah proudly claims to be a descendant! Sit back and enjoy the farcical goings-on in Titipu.

They have long been, and still are, one of the best live bands around and they’re back in 2020 with a new studio album and an extensive tour.

Over the years, Brighton folk-rock band Levellers have worn many masks; most self-made, some imposed upon them. But while their status has evolved over the decades, the basic humanity underpinning their music has remained constant.

DRACULA

Portugal’s Vortice Dance Company directed by Claudia Martins and Rafael Carrico has become one of the most prestigious Portuguese dance companies. This striking Dracula production has used several sources of inspiration, from Bram Stoker’s horror novel with the same title, to legends and myths from different cultures. The frontman and lyricist of the Sex Pistols and Public Image Ltd (PiL) caused a political earthquake and transformed music for good. To coincide with the publication of his new book, the brilliant, funny and insightful I Could Be Wrong, I Could Be Right, he is touring the UK. Lydon will talk about how he sees life, along with his unique and extraordinary career, and take audience questions during a pyrotechnic, one-off tour. Lydon will be sharing his thoughts with audiences.
