The new fire-prevention regulations have been in force since May 2007. Even with the most severe standards, there is no need to renounce taste. At last, fire doors, too may be consistent and harmonize with all the other frames of the building, made with the materials that the designer considers as most innovative and attractive. Engineering changes drastically with the issue of new fire-prevention acts of law. The concept of fire engineering has now appeared for the first time in Italy, and safety is evolving all to the benefit of greater architectural freedom. New safety classes with new symbols have been created accordingly (see table below). In-depth study of fire simulations and the consequent use of window and door frames with different classes allow designers to conceive lighter and more attractive solutions while complying with safety standards. New fire-prevention laws and the new concept of fire safety based on E - Sealing
fire engineering, where the project engineer calculates the “specific fire curve” and envisages ignition scenarios, often encourage the use of classes E and EW, which can offer perfectly adequate technical safety levels at more moderate costs. SeccoFuoco EW60 and EW90 products are suitable, for example, when no contact is expected between the window/door and flammable materials or in case of wide evacuation routes. With SeccoFuoco, the designer has all the products available to design a whole building, including a plan of fire doors having different classes but consistent with each other in terms of aesthetics and design.
