Each time we do a survey in North Oaks, maintaining the community’s privacy is one of the top priorities of responders. In NOHOA’s 2012 Community Survey, it placed fourth. Road maintenance was far and away the most important to residents. The trail system, enforcement of covenants/deeds and maintaining the privacy policy all followed closely behind road maintenance. Recently, the issue of privacy came up at a meeting I had with Mayor Mike Egelston. The mayor and I meet on a regular basis to discuss issues that concern both NOHOA and the city. During our recent meeting, we discussed NOHOA’s requirement to have Members’ approval on our annual budget which ultimately determines the annual dues and any necessary increases. There have been times when the budget has not passed. Because of this concern, Boards have often been very cautious in raising the budget as much as is necessary to maintain our roads and other assets. The mayor offered to take a look at the city taking over that responsibility if NOHOA was unable to increase Members’ dues enough to properly maintain the roads. I expressed concern that if NOHOA

North Oaks Network holds Q&A The North Oaks Network held a very interesting, informative and well-attended meeting on Monday, Oct. 12 at the Village Center. Our guest was Brian Rank, MD, executive medical director for HealthPartners Park Nicollet Group. Rank spoke of the current complex state of health care in the country, and in Minnesota and the Twin Cities in particular. He spoke at length of the reasons behind the high cost of drugs, cost of health care in general and what the health care industry is trying to do to curtail these costs. The question-and-answer section of the meeting was lively and informative. We thank Dr. Rank for a wonderful meeting.
