The Wonder

I have always found nature to be so amazing from the hundreds of trees and flowers to the animals within the forest. Experiencing nature is one of the best things that could happen in your life. I have always lived near the woods so I can experience nature every day. I have always felt calm when I go into the woods so I go there when I feel stressed. I lay in my hammock for a while or go put my feet into the icy cold water in the creek to get away from the world and just be at peace. To get away from the judgmental glares and the expectations from people.

One thing I used to love to do when I was little was put on my bathing suit and play in the creek with my cousins and two sisters. We would hunt crawdads and lizards. We tried to go up or down the creek as far as we could without getting in trouble. We had a tire swing to swing over the creek. We also made mud pies and mud castles. A bunch of us always made mud balls to throw at each other. The amount of imagination you get when you mix going into the woods with a bunch of people is crazy. We always make up games to play when we are in the creek, like villains and heroes.

Another thing I love to do outdoors is ride my families Polaris razor. I drive it all around at home or my family and I go somewhere to ride. We go to Windrock Park in Tennessee which has over 72,000 acres with 314 miles of trails to drive on. We get to drive for hours there and see all the amazing sights.

Descriptive Essay About Nature

Mental illness has been a mystery seemingly unsolvable for thousands of years. Mental illness only became known as new brain imaging technologies were invented in the 20th century. In the present day depression and anxiety are commonplace, and they run rampant in our schools as adolescents face the challenges of becoming adults, working men and women put a smile on for innocent children while they internally panic at the thought of this week's deadline, and the rich and famous can often be seen turning to drugs and alcohol only for the report to come out a week later, they have depression and anxiety, no one is surprised. We know what these illnesses do furthermore we know how to treat them but no answer has been put forward or accepted...show more content...

The rats which were depressed were lethargic and lacked survival instincts when tested however with therapy in the form of a rat sized playground they began to show signs of recovery within a month despite their genes. This experiment was also reversed to try to cause depression and was successful "the stressed control rats displayed depressed behaviors when placed in a tank of water. They simply floated–despair behavior– and didn't try to escape"(3). The science is improving nevertheless humans are complex creatures and hard to study; the experiments conducted on rats cannot be replicated in humans therefore the research has to take a path of observation and

My Nature Reflection

I went outside for about an hour Sunday, because that was all I could handle. Outside and I do not mix, because I do not like dirt or bugs or wild animals. While I was outside and not thinking about how much I did not like outside I was thinking about how I was feeling good about my family outing later in the day and how were we going to have an exciting time together going to Mint Hill for farm equipment and Concord Mills Mall for some shopping afterwards. During this time I thought about why my family does not go on many outings such as this, and I came up with a few reasons. One, my mother and father are older and cannot physically take such a long trip very often; and two, we do not have much money to do such big trips as we once did. Reflecting on these reasons made me feel a little down trodden about having older parents, but at the same time I was also glad for having older parents because not going somewhere every week makes each trip more special. Feeling grateful for my parents, since they are just about as close to perfect parents as you could get, I started thinking about what I might do after I move out on my own. I was thinking where I would like to move, or need to move for college and a career. I want to go into small business and own my own bakery. The market for a specialty bakery, such as the one I want to run, would not do well in Denton. I would have to move to a larger city, such as Charlotte or even somewhere such as New York City, for my business to Get

Reflection Paper On Nature

Nature is a multitude of things due to its essence as an abstract idea. At one point nature can encompass the world, life, and everything in–between. While at the next moment, it can transform into a qualitative description of inherent features, humans and their activities. While it holds an aura of mystery, Nature can simultaneously be likened to concrete ideas and things. Throughout history, nature has taken on different forms and meanings depending on which period is studied. My view of nature closely resembles that of the current era. I believe nature is an environment devoid of human intervention or corruption, yet a place that remains an integral spirit of humanities' interaction with the world around them. This is due to the...show more content...

Life and death are delicate strings that weave through our daily lives. Like a balance tipping the scales of the cosmos, nature's life provides enrichment for future generations and civilizations. Diverse species of plants and animals scour the Earth, each one of them strikingly different to the very fiber of their DNA. Nature is life in its rudimentary form. From the primitive life of plankton to the intricate behaviors displayed by primates, nature's life is present everywhere. I share the current era's view that humanities' existence is equal in importance to the most insignificant member of an ecosystem. The continuation of life is bound by species' interdependence for nature's resources. Without harmonious cohabitation, nature's life would cease to progress. Even as the last plumes of smoke die down in the burnt forest, buds and vegetation begin to sprout and flourish, giving life to the dependents of its ecosystem. Images of greenery, saplings, and offspring cross mymind when nature is mentioned. In recent years, nature has developed colloquial meanings as a living entity. Phrases like, "save mother nature" or "nature is dying" are usually used to describe the state of the ecosystem we live and share. Nature is a mother, nursing her young back to health.

Due to recent achievements in human development, the current era views intelligence as an endearing

I would define nature as the world around us without any type of human involvement. I believe that nature is anything natural to the earth. It is the plants, animals, rivers, forests, birds, weather, etc. It is a gift given to us from god. Most people believe that nature is just centered on the thought of the ocean and forest. Nature to me is the life source for all living creatures it provides us with the four essential things that we need to survive which are food, water, air, and shelter. However, we are so disconnected from nature we do not see the constant damage that is destroying our home.

The urban environment that I live in is my nature. My nature is filled with birds, cats, grass, and flowers. It may not be as abundant with mother nature's resources compared to most places, but it still provides me with an experience of nature. Nature is not limited to just what we see anymore. However, you must use your senses to truly achieve the full experience of nature. In nature, you must smell the wonderful odors from the flowers, you should use your sight and observe the natural beauty of the ever–changing sky, touch the rough and jagged bark of the trees, and hear the spectacular songs of the birds that fly above you. The connection between humans and nature is very weak. Due to future advancement we are basically losing our grip on reality, which brings up the point of destruction to nature that we are not aware of. At one point in time nature was the most beautiful thing you could ever witness. Now people exploit it for money. They are selling land, resources, even water for a profit. They don't think twice or blink an eye at the damage they cause. The disconnect is so huge the debate of protecting the earth is treated as a forbidden topic. "Second, environmental injustices critics challenge the mainstream environmental idea of what environmental problems are in the first place. They say its focused on the beautiful outdoors, it has anti–urban bias, it isn't engaged enough with artificial human environments like neighborhoods and workplaces" (Purdy 4) That just baffles me how you can turn the place we call home and the wellness of it to a political debate when all we should want to do is preserve it.

Nature has a great effect on individual. I was connected to nature in so many ways, especially in my youth days. Looking deep in to nature, I came to understand that nature is also a part of science which consist of the plants, animals and human being ways of life.

During the season, I was always derived a great joy walking the wild for miles looking for which tree to harvest, sometimes from morning to sunset. Nature And Nature Essay

Nature as God God is considered a friend, parent, protector and guide. Book 1 of The Prelude, by William Wordsworth, doesn't directly mention God but Wordsworth does talk about Nature. Nature is all around him and becomes very significant in his past and present. Wordsworth is so enamored with nature it's obvious that Nature is a religion to him. Parents often make others feel safe and protected and God often plays the role of a parent figure. Wordsworth shows that he feels at ``home'' with Nature, regardless of where he is. He questions, "In what Vale/ Shall be my harbour? Underneath what grove/ shall I take up my home, and what sweet stream/ shall with its murmurs lull me to rest? (Lines 11–14)." Wordsworth states that, "this hour/ Hath brought a gift that consecrates my joy;/ For I, methought, while the sweet breath of Heaven/ Was blowing on my body, felt within/ A corresponding mild creative breeze (lines 39–43)." To "consecrate" is to make sacred and "breath of Heaven" is usually associated with something of greatness. This vocabulary sounds very religious yet Wordsworth does not speak of any religion. He is using the language to describe nature. The language and words Wordsworth uses make his audience aware that he believes Nature is bigger than anything. He also tries to remind readers that all people should be in awe of Nature. The idea that Nature is bigger than anyone else is an example of how Nature is given godlike qualities by Wordsworth. He personifies Nature and it seems to become a person or identity. In line 4 Wordsworth writes, "And seems half conscious of the joy [she] gives." Here Nature is being described as an active, thinking being. Wordsworth writes as if Nature doesn't know the impact she has on those in her presence. The above lines follow with the theme that Nature is Wordsworth's god. Thompson 3 Certain followers of God believe that God uses them for specific purposes. Wordsworth believes he has a purpose, also. He says "a storm/ brings with it vernal promises, the hope/ Of active days, of dignity and thought, / Of prowess in an honorable field, /

Nature as God Essay example

In the introduction of the essay "Nature," Emerson argues that all the questions that people have developed about the universe, including those regarding the connections between God, nature and humanity, have answers that come through experiencing life and the world. Because each person is a unique manifestation of divine creation, each person has a different key to solving the universe's

"Nature" is an essay written by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and published by James Munroe and Company in 1836. [1] "Nature" has a total of 41 pages. The essay consists of eight parts: Nature, Commodity, Beauty, Language, Discipline, Idealism, Spirit and Prospects. Each part takes a different perspective on the relationship between humans and nature. In this essay, Emerson emphasizes the foundation oftranscendentalism, "a religious and philosophical movement that developed during the late 1820s and 30s in the Eastern region of the United States as protest against the general state of spirituality and, in particular, the state of intellectualism." [2] "Transcendentalism suggests that the divine, or God, suffuses nature, and suggests that reality can be understood by studying nature." [3] "Transcendentalism is closely related to Unitarianism, the dominant religious movement in Boston at the early nineteenth century. Transcendentalism evolved as an organic consequence of the Unitarian emphasis on free conscience and the value of intellectual reason." [4] Emerson divides nature into four stages: commodity, beauty, language, and discipline. These define the ways by which humans use nature for their basic needs. The historical significance of "Nature" was that transcendentalism club led the celebration of the American experiment as one of the individualism and self–reliance. [5]

Emerson's purpose in the essay "Nature" is to lay out and attempt to solve an abstract problem: that humans do

My Love Of Nature

Living in our modern world today, being close to nature is something that goes undervalued. Luckily, my parents have influenced my love of nature, by involving me to grow several trees supplying fruit, beauty, and to rake several leaves in the fall. Today, our backyard is a home to running squirrels, nesting birds, and creepy crawlies such as snails, snakes, and spiders. All of the nature that is supplied by our house, is the cause that has created a strong sense to wonder about the life around us. Including questions like, Why is the sky blue? What makes invasive species so dangerous? I wanted to learn about animals, life sciences, and eventually how to preserve the environment. The proximity of nature in my life has encouraged me to learn and teach others the impacts between humans and the Earth.

Growing up as the eldest, I have learned to live with others depending on me, as I have also learned to depend on them. Being the daughter of a hispanic family opens my eyes to see the struggle to meet the rent, the payments of bills, and having leftover money to put food on the table. I have been encouraged by my family, who also inform me to continue myeducation, but as a woman, defeat can be just around the corner. I have experienced just the touch of the pain my aunts have had; the obstacles of having a child, having a job for stability, and still wanting to continue their education. Second hand experiences from my family are the stories that help me learn the realities of

How many families in the United States alone have a poor understanding of the environment they live in and on? My lake–lot creates the upmost best experience for me to be one with nature and land. Many times I was able to hear the birds chirping, see turtles sun bathing, and other people tubing and skiing behind boats. I enjoy my land so much and appreciate all of the living nature. We need to understand how vital the land is that we live and work on. Although most people enjoy certain places, it is good to balance areas of land to experience how nature works. I believe people will begin to respect and also learn more about who they are once they find places that comfort and calm them. The natural environment is a great resource to do this. Nature and our responsibility towards it

Natural resources are things we depend in our everyday lives. Food, water, and clean air are three natural resources that we depend on constantly. We have a responsibility towards these resources and that's to not deplete them. We have to stand up and take responsibility and save the resource before they are all gone. If we deplete these resources the human species will die out.

First we have to take responsibility and not deplete our natural resources because they feed us. Animals eat natural resources such as grass, hay, and a mixture of other natural resources so that they can stay alive. In return we eat these animals to keep us alive. If we don't care for these resources not only will we be depleting natural resources; we will...show more content...

This pollutes the places where our drinking water comes from. Water pollution can have affects as simple as diarrhea and as serious as death. Now you can see why our responsibility to our natural resource of water is so important.

Lastly we must take responsibility and not deplete our natural resources because of the air we breathe. If we pollute the air many issues arise. Air pollution presents huge environmental threats. Fighting air pollution is one of the best ways to help our environment. Air pollution has different harmful chemicals and gases released from our cars and industrial factories. Vehicles are the biggest source of air pollution. In some countries the air is unbearable to breathe. The biggest impact air pollution has on humans is our health. According to the world health organization 2.4 million people die each year from direct air pollution. Air pollution can also cause respiratory diseases and lead to heart problems. Air pollution has an effect on climate change and the greenhouse effect. It gives the greenhouse effect more strength which then increase the average temperature on earth. Other issues that may come from air pollution is increased risk for skin cancer due to thinning of the ozone layer. Acid rain can also be an issue. Acid rain damages animal habitats, pollute water, and damage the ecosystem. If we continue to not take responsibility and pollute the air with these

Similarities Between Nature And Nature

In this essay, I will debate the assumption that nature and technology are binary opposites, or two worlds apart from each other. I will refer to the interactive game which I have used within my presentation to illustrate how technology is not separate from nature– human nature in particular–but that it is simply a man made artifice, which is the materialisation of the plethora of ideas within the human mind. I will also refer to one of the three presribed readings from Arthur (2009) in order to better substantiate my views and opinions about this subject.

Technology and nature share many surprising similarities in that they follow the same processes of benefiting mankind and nature; once new technologies have been created, they have become...show more content...

Therefore, World of Warcraftis the perfect hybrid of the two hemispheres of human intelligence, orderly as well as creative, logical yet emotional, realistic yet imaginative.

To summarise, technology follows the same process as that of nature in that new technologies are formed from older building blocks of previous technologies. Technology has undergone an evolution, drifting from the Modernistic principles of masculine order and rationality towards the Postmodernistic values of feminine imagination and emotional spontaneity. An example of this would be the economy, which adapts to the ebb and flow of the supply and demand of society at large. The internet is another example of an intricately complex network of information and ideas.

World of Warcraft imitate real world races and cultures, whilst still using mythical monsters and beasts instead of solely human characters. This serves as a hybrid between the two hemispheres of the human brain, logic and emotion, realism and

Nature Vs. Nurture

"You inherit your environment just as much as your genes." (Rich, 2015) In 1869, the phrase "nature vs. nurture was coined by an English polymath named Francis Galton. There are two sides to this debate, each with their own pros and con's. Nature is the side that argues that the DNA and genotype humans are born with determines who they are and what personality and traits they will have throughout their lifetime. Whereas the nurture side of the debate argues that humans are born with sponges as minds, and through interactions and experiences while we grow, the knowledge and understanding of life is gained and this is how our personalities are sculpted. Many people have studied this debate through multiple schools of thoughts; each with their own arguments to which side they believe prevails. Yet, to this day, there is no proof to say which side of the debate if correct. Based on the psychological, sociological, and epigenetic schools of though, it can be validated that when it comes to the nature vs. nurture debate, nurture will always prevail and remain most relevant. The basic assumption of psychologists in correlation to nurture is that the mind is a "blank slate, or tabula rasa" (Locke, 1689) during infancy, and continues to absorb new information as the environment changes with the child. There are multiple disciplines within the psychological school of thought that become very relevant when studying nurture. For starters, cognitive psychology states that mental

Do we depend on technology too much? Technology is a part of our evolution. It is, therefore a natural process and, it is essential for our civilized lives. However, we haven't been cautious about the way we use technology. We carelessly spoiled nature's resources and, disrupt its balance. We jeopardize the future of next generations. We need here only mention matters such as the standard treatment of factory–farmed domesticated food animals, the destruction of soils, the pollution of air and water, and the extinctions of wild species, as these horrors are well documented. I believe we forgot that nature's resources are not endless, therefore we haven't been cautious about the way we use it. However, we can treat the damages we have caused. In order to stop pollution we should reduce our carbon emission. To achieve this, we can drive less frequently. Instead we can use public transportation, cycle or walk occasionally. Moreover, we should use less electricity and unplug electronic appliances when we don't use them. Factories should also decrease their carbon emission by recycling their waste or properly destroy them without causing pollution and using filters to remove pollutants from their

Nature And Nature : My Relationship With Nature

For as long as I can remember, the outdoors has always been a place where I can go to find myself again. It is a place where I can be whatever I want, a place where there are no rules, no family and no friends. Well, sometimes there are friends, but most of the time it's just me and the trees. When I was child, all I ever wanted to do was climb a tree to the very tip top to maybe, just maybe, touch a cloud. Now I know that's far out of reach, but back then I thought I could do it and thought that there was nothing in my way except for a couple of limbs. How easy is that? It's basically like climbing a ladder. Outdoors, to me, is a magical place where I can be, do and see whatever Iwant and there's no one there to tell me I can't. Outdoors has always been a place where I can just relax and forget about the world around me for just that one moment. Over time my appreciation for outdoors has matured greatly. I love listening to the sound of the raindrops splattering across the roof or the site of the snowflakes falling past the leafless trees. In this essay, I'm going to define my relationship withnature. I'm going to tell about my experiences and how much I personally love Mother Nature. My relationship with nature can only be defined as a place for me to explore God's creation without any judgment. Nature is a place where I can go and forget about my everyday life, a place where there is no responsibility weighing down my shoulders. I can be, do and go where I

I find that all three of my passions correlated within my life. Without my appreciation of nature, I would lose the moments I have had with my family and friends. I am most passionate about nature. Living in California, I feel that people have all the opportunity to experience every climate. From Joshua Tree to the Redwoods, everyone living here has so much opportunity right in their backyard. I am passionate about taking the time to appreciate the details in nature. We get lost in the mundane; we fail to appreciate the magnitude of a California beach sunset as its falling off into the horizon or hiking through the Avenue of the Giants and realizing that every tree within its overwhelming immense trunks towering over me still makes me feel calm and safe. I find it hard to live happy without love being your driving force in life. Humans, being intrinsically selfish, do actions based on how it makes them feel. However, the motivation of compassion and love makes the selfishness justified. I want to be a teacher, I want to help kids and make them know that everyone has a chance to succeed. It is out of love I want to pursue this career path. It also goes without saying that this goal encompasses some selfishness. While I was in school, I was told that I was not smart enough to succeed. Nature in Literature: Basho and Voltaire Nature plays a huge role in many pieces of literature, but especially Basho's Narrow Road to the Deep North and Voltaire's Candide. There is a major difference between the two forms of literature and how nature is incorporated into each. This Japanese form of literature has a much lighter tone than that of the European style of literature.

You can see a calmer, more relaxed intention into the nature that is in Basho's Narrow Road to the Deep North. On page 413 in Basho's piece, it says "As the year gradually came to an end and spring arrived, filling the sky with mist, I longed to cross the Shirakawa Barrier, the most revered ...show more content...

In the opening paragraph on page 454, Voltaire writes "Once upon a time in Westphalia, in the castle of Baron Thunder–ten–tronckh, there lived a young boy whom nature had endowed with the gentlest of dispositions." This opening sentence makes you believe that it could have a similar feel to Basho's story. When you reach page 460, there is a line that says "While he was presenting his argument, the air grew thick, the winds blew from the four corners of the earth, and the ship was assailed by the most terrible storm, within sight of the port of Lisbon." This passage not only shows you that the nature of the story is a lot more dramatic, but it also shows you that Voltaire is more focused on the weather instead of the landscape. There is a dramatic earthquake and a storm that destroys the ship that they are on. Page 461 says "Whirlwinds of flame and ash covered the streets and public squares: houses disintegrated, roofs were upended upon foundations, and foundations crumbled." Voltaire writing this in his passage just shows the reader how awful and destructive the earthquake actually was. While you understand that they encountered a massive destructive earthquake, they do actually see some light at the end of all the horrible events. On page 467, it says "'All will be well,' was Candide's reply. 'Already the sea in this new world is better than those we have in Europe. It's

Despite what mankind would like to believe, humans are animals. As multi–celled organisms, we consume other organic matter, change the land for own uses as a beaver would build a dam, and as other mammals, we are all fed breast milk from our mothers when we were young. Yet there is this disconnection and alienation of the human race towards other species. Moreover, through fear of taking action, the convenience provided to us if we simply choose to ignore the environment, and the alienation of other species that are endangered by our actions, the hostile and uncaring attitude of humans towards nature is the core reason for many of the problems in our environment today.

As a 17–year old teenager going to high school, contrary to the environmental activist, David Suzuki's, remarks about the ignorance of humans about nature, I receive much information about these kinds of problems at my school, from dedicated assemblies, eco fairs and special days that address our responsibility to deal with nature in a more responsible fashion. Yet, when the school day is over, all of the information seeps out of the roof of the school; plastic water bottles are still found in the corners of hallways and leftover Tim Hortons cups are still present in the desks of my former Business class. Even when I step inside the door of my house, the disconnection from nature is apparent. Most of my time at home is spent looking at a screen and doing homework and the only sign of nature would be the fly
