Cheers to the Next 15 Years! Marking important milestones, such as Whitaker Center’s recent 15 year anniversary celebration, provides an opportunity to document the many successes of the past as well as to set new goals for the future. We are pleased that more than 4 million visitors have come to know Whitaker Center as the place to discover it all. As a result of all of those visits, Whitaker Center has driven more than $300 million in economic impact for the region. Our challenge over the next few years, however, is to reach the thousands of children and adults in Central Pennsylvania who have not experienced the unique and innovative programs that are only available at Whitaker Center. For a number of years we have been investing in new technologies to provide state-ofthe-art learning experiences for our visitors to Harsco Science Center exhibit galleries. Our largest technology investment, however, is a new digital projector that is replacing the film-based system in our 200-seat giant screen theater that will now be known as Select Medical Digital Cinema. The new projection system will provide access to a larger library of giant screen documentary films and also allow us to experiment with the presentation of an expanding array of new content. This new content includes live broadcasts of musical concerts and sports events as well as the presentation of our own Surgery Live! program. These investments in cutting-edge new technologies and innovation are essential to advancing the mission of Whitaker Center, and they are made possible because of the incredible generosity of the business community and individual donors. Select Medical Digital Cinema in particular is a reality because of the philanthropic leadership provided by Rocco Ortenzio and the executive leadership team of Select Medical. Without their gift and example of commitment to our community, advancing the fullness of Whitaker Center’s mission would not be possible. Of course, we would be remiss if we did not also recognize the other organizations and individuals who have so importantly contributed to this success. Their important contributions to Whitaker Center’s sustainability, which are detailed further in this publication, are greatly appreciated and should be recognized by all. As we strive to advance our mission to serve as the center for artistic, scientific and cultural activities in the region, the accomplishments of the past set the standard for our goals for the future. At the same time, we are challenged by our commitment to the community to aspire to new levels of accomplishment. We encourage you to join with us as a patron and a donor to improve the quality of life in the region through innovative arts and science experiences at Whitaker Center.

Wednesday, November 26 I Sunoco Performance Theater, 7:30pm The Machine, a New York-based band, is America’s premier Pink Floyd tribute band. Their performances showcase Pink Floyd’s legacy through a multi-dimensional approach. The band combines theatrical elements and elaborate stage displays during their performances. The Machine recreates Pink Floyd tunes and reinterprets their own jams and experiences. The band’s worldwide success has grown over the past 25 years, reaching an international fan base in North American, Central America, the Middle East, and Europe. Band members include Ryan Ball (guitar, vocals), Tahrah Cohen (drums), Scott Chasolen (keys, vocals), and Adam Minkoff (bass, vocals). The Art Fuse recently said, “… They are a respectful, expert tribute to one of the world’s most iconic rock bands.” 2013 marked the Machine’s 25th Anniversary. Throughout these past, almost three decades, the band has performed at multiple music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Riverbend, and Germany’s Rock of Ages. The Machine has also released DVD and DVD/ CD sets of previous performances, including Live in Amsterdam.

Dave Mason’s Traffic Jam Presented by

Capital BlueCross is an Independent Licensee of the BlueCross BlueShield Association

Friday, November 28 I Sunoco Performance Theater, 8pm Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alumni, Dave Mason is known as one of rock’s greatest guitarists. His remarkable career spans over 37 years and encompasses decades of producing, performing and songwriting. Mason’s career officially started at age 18, after teaming up with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood who formed the legendary group, Traffic. The following year, Mason penned the rock anthem Feelin’ Alright, which was recorded by over 48 artists. In 1969 Mason moved from England to the U.S. to pursue a solo career and gained notoriety with Alone Together. This was followed by five albums, including Dave Mason and Mariposa De Oro, four of which received gold albums. The platinum-selling Let It Flow contains the top-ten single, We Just Disagree. In addition to performing to sold-out audiences, Mason has performed on a number of albums such as Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Ladyland. In 1993, Mason formally joined the legendary group Fleetwood Mac and spent two years touring with them around the world. In 2008, Megaforce Records released the first Mason studio album in more than 20 years, 26 Letters 12 Notes. 10

Sadie and the Hotheads featuring Elizabeth McGovern from Downton Abbey “The USA Debut – Still Waiting Tour!” Presented by

Capital BlueCross is an Independent Licensee of the BlueCross BlueShield Association

Friday, December 5 I Sunoco Performance Theater, 8pm Renowned for their unique sound, stylized with a fusion of blues, folk, country and jazz, Sadie and the Hotheads debuted in 2007 with I Can Wait. Led by the vocal talents of actress Elizabeth McGovern, she first made her professional debut in Robert Redford’s Ordinary People (1980), which earned an Academy® Award for Best Picture of the Year. Most recently, McGovern received Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for her role as Cora, Countess of Grantam in the multi-award winning Downton Abbey. Since Sadie and the Hotheads released their internationally acclaimed second album, How Not To Lose Things (2012), the band has toured throughout the UK. Still Waiting (October 2014) is the band’s latest release, produced by Grammy and Emmy awardwinner Kipper Eldridge. As well as breathtaking original material, there are also covers that say much about the band’s breadth of vision – an ethereal take on the Bee Gees’ Staying Alive and beautiful, dreamy rendering of the Rolling Stones’ Wild Horses.

Jonathon Boogie Long and The Nighthawks Presented by

Capital BlueCross is an Independent Licensee of the BlueCross BlueShield Association

Saturday, December 6 I Sunoco Performance Theater, 8pm From Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jonathon Boogie Long (JBL) was born with the blues coursing through his veins. Boogie Long was crowned Guitar Center’s “King of the Blues” from a field of over 4,000 contestants, in the competition for #1 Unsigned Blues Guitarist in America. Boogie currently fronts his blues/ soul trio, The Blues Revolution. His soul-stomping vocals and monster guitar shredding, paired with bluesy songwriting chops make his powerhouse performances a “must-see.” JBL’s debut record, Jonathon Boogie Long & The Blues Revolution was released in 2013. Over more than three decades, The Nighthawks have earned a reputation as one of the best and hardestworking bands around. Founded in the Washington, D.C. area in 1972, the ‘Hawks’ were a roots band before anyone had come up with the term. Their mix of blues, rock, rockabilly, soul and swing appeals to a widely diverse audience, built over years of touring throughout the U.S., Europe and Japan. The Nighthawks won the Traditional Blues/R&B Duo/Group Award at the 2009 Washington Area Music Awards. In 2011, their album, Last Train to Bluesville won the Acoustic Album of the Year at the 32nd Blues Music Awards. SPOTLIGHT

Whitaker Center at the Forum Get The Led Out Presented by

Capital BlueCross is an Independent Licensee of the BlueCross BlueShield Association

Saturday, December 27 I Whitaker Center at the Forum, 8pm From the bombastic and the epic, to the folky and mystical – Get The Led Out (GTLO) has captured the essence of the recorded music of Led Zeppelin – and brought it to the big concert stage. Dubbed by the media the “American Led Zeppelin,” GTLO presents a two hour+ set each night, spanning the mythical career of the legendary super group. Get The Led Out’s approach to their performances of this hallowed catalog is not unlike a classical performance. “Led Zeppelin is sort of the classical composers of the rock era,” says lead vocalist Paul Sinclair, “I believe 100 years from now they will be looked at as the Bach or Beethoven of our time. As cliché as it sounds, their music is timeless.” GTLO’s catalogue of cover hits includes Heartbreaker, Ten Yeas Gone, Whole Lotta Love, Kashmir, and Stairway to Heaven. GTLO includes Paul Sinclair (lead vocals/harmonica), Hammond, (electric and acoustic guitars/mandolin), Jimmy Marchiano (electric and acoustic guitars/vocals), Billy Childs (bass guitar/vocals), Adam Ferraioli (drums/vocals/percussion).

Whitaker Center at the Forum George Thorogood & The Destroyers Badder Than Ever Tour Presented by

Capital BlueCross is an Independent Licensee of the BlueCross BlueShield Association

Wednesday, March 11 I Whitaker Center at the Forum, 8pm More than 4 decades, over 8,000 live shows, and some 15 million albums sold worldwide later, George Thorgood is still thrilling audiences with his electrifying music, and remains the most bad-to-the-bone performer in rock. For George and his longtime band – Jeff Simon (drums, percussion), Bill Blough (bass guitar), Jim Suhler (rhythm guitar) and Buddy Leach (saxophone) – their 2015 Badder Than Ever Tour is indestructible proof that staying true to yourself and the music can still mean something. And with a catalog of classics that includes — Who Do You Love, I Drink Alone, One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer, Move It On Over, Bad To The Bone and more — being able to share it with audiences is what will always matter. Nevertheless, that self-titled and now-classic debut would soon be certified Gold. Over the course of 16 studio albums (including six Gold and two Platinum discs), the band would storm the charts by putting their own stamp on nuggets by Hank Williams, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, John Lee Hooker, Elmore James and more. Ultimately, the Badder Than Ever Tour is 50% celebration, 50% declaration and 100% Thorogood throw-down. 12

Thank You to Our Advancing Performing Arts Challenge Donors Advancing Performing Arts Challenge (APAC) is Whitaker Center’s educational endowment. We continue to see the decrease in funds for arts education in our schools limiting students’ experiences and emotional and intellectual stimulation. For our children, access to the arts is an integral part of a well-rounded education. Whitaker Center, along with our three Resident Companies, has the opportunity to make performances such as classical ballet, theater and chamber music available to all citizens of Central Pennsylvania, especially our children. The performing arts endowment will be used to support arts education programming including residencies, master classes and workshops. Through the wonderful generosity of an anonymous donor, Whitaker Center has been challenged to match, dollar for dollar, the donor’s gift of $1 million. This unique opportunity to raise a $2 million special endowment will ensure
