INTRODUCING THE SENIOR CENTER’S NEW PROGRAM COORDINATOR HELLO! My name is Janiece Black and I am the newest member of the Oak Harbor Senior Center family! I have accepted the position of Program Coordinator at the Center and could not be more excited! I’m originally from the Lone Star state of Texas. I was born in the small town of Terrell, TX and moved to the BIG CITY of Dallas when I was only two years old. I spent most of my life in Dallas where I was raised by my hard working mother and dedicated grandmother. The presence of these two loving and independent women taught me to take care of myself, accomplish my goals, and to always maintain a compassionate spirit. I am very thankful for my upbringing and miss my family daily.
I moved to Whidbey Island in 2009. My closest friend throughout college always spoke fondly of Whidbey Island and when we graduated she left Texas immediately. Only a few years passed before she convinced me to come visit her and I was happy to accept the offer. I expected only to stay for a few short months PROGRAM continued on page 8 but here I am six years later!
