If Tim “Too Slim” www.tooslim.org Langford only played slide guitar, he would slither around most other blues guitarists and put a ferocious bite on their pride. As the sole six-string slinger, songwriter, and lead singer of the power trio Too Slim and the Taildraggers, he is a total force of nature, leaving musical tracks for others to try to follow. Now with 16 albums and countless gigs under his belt, he remains as untamed and menacing as ever.

CODY BEEBE & THE CROOKS Cody Beebe & The Crooks are a Northwest country staple and have been around the block a time or two, touring through 30 U.S. states and seven European countries. In the past two years, family and personal matters took them off codybeebeandthecrooks.com the road and out of the recording studio, but this summer, they geared back up to release new music. Known for their progressive-rock take on country music, they have found themselves playing Watershed at the Gorge twice, opening for notable acts all over the country, and even starting their own festival–Chinook Fest–as a result of pleasing their die-hard fan base. They’re excited to bring their signature sound and high-energy performance back to the PNW this summer.

Hailing from Seattle, The Dip is an electrifying seven-piece ensemble that melds vintage rhythm and blues and modern pop with “impeccably crafted, 60s-steeped soul” (KEXP). The group quickly gained notoriety for their eminently danceable live shows featuring the powerful vocals of Tom Eddy (Beat Connection), bolstered by the www.thedipmusic.com deep pocket of their unmistakably detailed rhythm section and the spirited melodies of The Honeynut Horns. They’re hard-hitting but sensitive. Whether young or old, you can’t help yourself from grinning ear-to-ear when you see these gentlemen hit the stage. I wouldn’t hold back dancing for that matter either! Ladies and gentleman, give it up for The Dip! Hit up the dance floor, and put it in your hip!

Locarno is the Latin project of JUNO Award-winning musician, Tom Landa. Like him, the music is equal parts Mexican and Canadian. Tom was born and raised in Mexico City and moved to Canada in his teens. In the mid 90s, he formed The Paperboys, a folk-roots band that has been touring world-wide for over 20 years. Tom has always dabbled in Latin music and in 2005 decided to immerse himself more into the genre, when he started working on material for an album. In 2006, he was awarded a Canada Council Grant to study traditional Mexican Music in Veracruz, Mexico. Tom spent his days learning the jarana (an 8-string guitar) and learning songs from the Son Jarocho repertoire. Upon his return to Canada, Tom started working on what would be Locarno’s debut CD.

Although Weak Sheep typically writes and performs music of the indie-folk flavor, lately, with the addition of a family band, Weak Sheep has been playing more of an indie-rock style of music. The blending of Marielle’s lyrical and raw style with the guys’ (Nehemiah, Nate, and Keagen) rhythm and rock has kicked up some older songs and given birth to some new ones.

HOT CLUB OF TROY
Inspired by the compositions of legendary gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, Hot Club of Troy plays acoustic jazz in the master’s style and instrumentation. This is lyrical, lively swing! Hot Club of Troy consists of Troy Chapman (guitar), Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews (clarinet, saxophone), Keith Bowers (guitar), and Kristi O’Donnell (bass).

Backyard Bison is a young band from Oak Harbor who produces an exciting alternative rock sound. They cover material from many famous alternative rock bands with some classic rock thrown in the mix. The band is hard at work recording their first album, which should be released by the end of the summer! Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, now based in the Pacific Northwest, Lizzie began her journey as a songwriter in Studio City, California, where she moved at twenty years old to pursue a career in acting. Two years after her move to L.A., she found herself back in St. Louis, writing, recording, and producing her self-titled debut album as she pursued a degree in Journalism from Washington University. Lizzie’s 2014 debut was well-received. A complete unknown to the St. Louis music scene, local magazine Eleven was the first to review the album, dubbing Lizzie their favorite new artist of 2014. From Seattle, country artist Miller Campbell has boldly declared her intent to claim a prominent place in the canon of western music. It would serve us all well to take Ms. Campbell at her word. Armed with a voice clear and bright as high mountain air and round, warm, and rough in all the right places, Campbell sings with a natural assuredness usually found only in artists with decades of experience. From festivals and rodeos, to country bars and honky-tonks, fans are giving themselves over to an artist who writes from the heart and sings from her very soul.

Ben Union is the living, breathing definition of a modern classic. The Seattle/ Tacoma-based sensation is a rare breed of artist, pushing the edges of his music closer to the luminous polish of current hits only to reveal timeless influences and instincts. His art is a stiff cocktail of tried-and-true ingredients shaken with a mixer sweet enough to keep you consuming it for the rest of your life. Member FDIC
Proud Sponsor of the
Oak Harbor Music Festival peoplesbank-wa.com
Union is a deliberate songwriter, his sonic libation adhering to the highest standards of a reckless night. His lyrics don’t sleep, and his rhythms are driving stolen wheels on a suspended license downhill toward a cliff. There are unmistakable flavors of R&B and soul, hints of reggae and funk, and a splash of low-end beats poured over a light serving of rock for refreshment. At the end of the night, you don’t care what’s in it; you know it tastes good and does its job every time. Ben is the time you drank all that champagne and rum punch and never got the hangover you most certainly deserved.

By their 3rd single, “Chills,” they found themselves #1 on the Canadian country radio charts and back in the record books as the only Canadian band to ever achieve #1 on a debut album. Their latest single (released January 2018) off their next EP, Good Together, was the #1 most-added on Canadian country radio and #2 most-added on all formats. Formed in 2015, the Seattle trio–guitarist/vocalist Grant Mullen, bassist/ vocalist Gianni Aiello, and drummer Henry LaVallee–put out their debut EP, R.I.P., the following year and have been steadily building up their reputation as a live act ever since, having as much fun as possible while doing it. Because, as much as the three–who are all in their early 20s–have their heads screwed on and are fiercely intelligent people, they also want to let loose and enjoy being in a band. After all, that’s kind of what being in a band with your closest friends is all about.

FREDDY & FRANCINE
To the casual observer, Freddy & Francine seem safely cemented as a folk duo. They’ve got the look and the soulful harmonies. They’re even getting married.
Freddy & Francine (their actual names are Lee Ferris and Bianca Caruso) aren’t interested in acting, genres, or talking or not talking about their relationship. They’ve done all that. They’ve recently left their longtime home of Los Angeles for Nashville. “We just want to play music all the time and we don’t care about the rest...” www.freddyandfrancine.com

THE GOTHARD SISTERS
The Gothard Sisters are a dynamic trio of sisters, whose impressive array of talents have set them apart as one of the most refreshing and compelling acts in Celtic-roots music today. The sisters’ unpredictable and theatrical flair brings a youthful splash to the time-honored tradition of Celtic folk music, bridging the gap between classical, folk, Celtic, world, and roots influences with a sunny, optimistic style that has been described as “beautifully arranged, melodicminded, Celtic folk-pop.”
