English Car Affair in the Park The Belfry presents Goodnight Desdemona

Celebrated novelist and playwright Ann-Marie MacDonald goes nose-to-nose with the Bard in the Belfry Theatre’s production of Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet), a delicious romp through time and space onstage September 17 to October 20. When a lovelorn academic – convinced that Shakespeare’s Othello and Romeo and Juliet were intended to be comedies – is transported into the middle of these masterpieces, she begins a comic journey that proves that Romeo, Juliet, Othello and Desdemona ain’t what they used be. And neither is our heroine!

Dracula descends on Craigdarroch Beware this October when “a blood moon shall rise, unhallowed ground shall spread and Hell shall be unleashed upon the city when the world’s most famous force of evil descends and takes root at Craigdarroch Castle.” Don’t miss the ghoulish fun when the historic nineteenth century castle hosts Dracula – The Blood is the Life. Adapted from Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel by David Radford and Christina Patterson, this new take on the famous tale mixes Dracula with a dose of demonic exorcism, led by the famous vampire hunter Professor Abraham Van Helsing. You may think you’ve seen the story of Count Dracula, but you’ve never seen it like this. Audiences tour the castle’s interior and exterior as scenes of Stoker’s tale unfold around them. Dracula

Classic cars on display Car enthusiasts will want to mark September 8 on their Victoria travel itinerary, a chance to see the Old English Car Club’s 18th annual English Car Affair in the Park at Fort Rodd Hill National Historic Site. At 10am precisely, the skirl of the pipes will herald the start of this very popular event, featuring more than 100 classic and vintage British automobiles festooning Fort Rodd’s open meadow. After checking out the classic rides, continue your explorations through the 19th century fort and lighthouse, the first built on Canada’s West Coast. Coming up the following weekend, September 15, is the Vancouver Island Motor Gathering, hosted by the German Auto Import Network, located on the beautiful waterfront grounds of the Queen Alexandra Centre, 2400 Arbutus Rd, from 11am to 4pm. All proceeds support the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island.
