Supplies List Unit 1. Plot A.

Map Team – See page 30 of the lesson plans. This would be a team of students armed with the materials to create a floor map either in the classroom or another dedicated area.

(Floor map is ideal but another large map can be utilized too).

Potential Supplies for the map include colored masking tape to use to mark borders, bodies of water and major map elements.

Organization Team – If you had the chance to distribute a supplies list then it is possible that on the first (or second) day of class that you are being inundated with stacks of newspaper strips, etc. This team will organize the resources. Either by neatly stacking, carrying to storage or in the case of the newspapers ripping the paper into machete shreds to be used during the second unit.

Marketing Team – This is an ideal group for the computer literate and the artistically inclined. Options include the creation of a Museum logo. Creation of museum flyers or invitations that can be brought to the classes that will be invited to participate. Give the students freedom to be creative with additional ideas. A Museum Banner could be created an hung on the wall or from the ceiling throughout the semester.

D. Signage Team – This team could be responsible for laying out the museum and then creating various signs for each of the time periods. These signs could be used the day or night of the museum and could also be hung on the wall or hung from the ceiling of the classroom during the semester.

E. Timeline Team – Another creative team that is responsible for creating the threaded timelines to hang on the walls throughout the semester. This team should be encouraged to be creative, but ideas could include hanging colored yarn or thread and then creating and laminating pictures of each of the plot points. These could then be hung via clothespin along the yarn.

In addition to projects that students will create during the semester there are additional opportunities for members of your class to express creativity by: • • • • • • •

Making costumes Preparing a food from a different culture Creating artwork from different culture Creating marketing for social media, school publications and communication to other classes within the school.

Creating a logo and branding for your museum.

You are encouraged to be creative in accomplishing your mission.

You are encouraged to learn from and share ideas with a global community of students who are working on the same project in their local community around the world.

Camera for the Student Photo Booth & ID Badge Creation Employee Picture. Students will have a “photo booth” opportunity to have their picture taken for an ID badge. Students are encouraged to use props or costumes for their picture.

Props can include but are not limited to: hats, mustaches on a stick, approved signs to hold.
