Varsity athletics
The college fields 26 intercollegiate athletic teams, most of which compete in the NCAA Division III, and it is the only college on the east coast to offer five varsity aquatic sports. Our extensive recreational facilities include the Haas Athletic Center, the Clark Center and the recently renovated fitness center in the Balfour-Hood Center. You can take advantage of indoor basketball and tennis courts, Selectorized/Nautilus circuit, plate-loaded machines, a 200-meter track and a 25-yard or 25-meter swimming pool. Outdoor facilities include a running and walking path, lighted tennis and basketball courts and playing fields. Throughout the year, we also sponsor a variety of fitness classes and activities—from kickboxing to Pilates.
Outcomes And Impact
Just six months after graduating, our alumni are finding jobs in their first fields; continuing their education in graduate schools around the world, teaching and exploring new places through national scholarships and fellowships (such as the Fulbright), and gaining skills, insight and meaning through internships and volunteer experiences.

Nursing applicants
Nursing admission is competitive. Applicants who wish to apply as a Nursing major are strongly encouraged to do so by the November 15 Early Action or Early Decision deadlines. Nursing applications received after that date will be considered on a space available basis. Students applying for direct-entry nursing will be considered for general admission to Wheaton should they not qualify for nursing admission. Students from other institutions may apply for transfer to Wheaton. Transfer students will be considered as space is available. In general, science courses and electives will be accepted. For nursing courses, only Fundamentals of Nursing and Health Assessment may transfer. Please contact the Admission Office for more details.

Affordability
Wheaton is committed to making our transformative liberal arts education affordable through generous merit scholarships and needbased financial aid. On average, new students in fall 2023 received more than $45,000 in Wheaton grant and scholarship, with many receiving additional funding from federal and state sources.
All admitted students will be considered for merit scholarships automatically—no separate application is required.
