We begin a new season, spring, with an array of beautiful colors. Enthusiastically we receive many visitors from around the world, with only their presence and cultural diversity it makes the county the place to visit. For this quarter, we have a lot more on the Equestrian events in Wellington, the final tournaments of the month of March like jumping and dressage. The Polo tournaments of 26 goals start (March April) at the International Polo Club, home of the USPA PIAGET GOLD CUP and the US OPEN tournaments. Every Sunday the fans will gather for a great party attended by the best players in the world. The Boat Show has arrived to our docks! This event is among the ten best around the country featuring more than $350 million worth of boats, yachts and accessories from the world’s leading marine manufacturers. Spring also brings to Florida the training season for major league baseball teams such as the Marlins and the Cardinals in the beautiful facilities of Roger Dean Stadium. Don’t miss the chance to see them train up close, get to know them and ask for their autographs. For the music lovers we have the SUNFEST in Palm Beach boardwalk in the month of April. A big party for the entire family not to be missed! Museums, theaters and galleries are filled with new proposals for the enjoyment of all visitors and those who live in this wonderful county… For people who really enjoy dining, they opened 4 new restaurants in the city of Wellington with very good taste and

different styles. Pangea has a delicious fusion cuisine with an outdoor terrace very inviting for gatherings of friends. We recommend it for any occasion! The county has a lot to offer and being inspired is a fundamental part to enjoy it. Spring offers a beautiful blue sky and such cool temperatures that I want to invite you to watch just one sunrise, it gives us a moment of beauty so magnificent that stops for a moment our thoughts. Beer is a foodstuff. As with most foodstuffs, beer is perishable-it deteriorates as a result of the action of bacteria, light, and air. However, unlike other food products, packaged beer is not legally mandated to carry a "sell by" or expiration date. If there is no date, store your beer for no longer than 6 weeks. Nonetheless, some domestic beer sold in the United States does carry a freshness date. There are still many breweries, large and small, which do not send all their beers to market with a freshness date, but the trend is certainly moving in the right direction. Beer needs to be stored in a way that maintains its flavor and freshness. The aroma, flavor and body should not change, they must be the same from the moment it is bottle until it is consumed. But unlike hard alcohol and wine, most beer doesn’t taste better with age. In fact, if a beer isn’t reasonably fresh, it will start to go off and taste stale. A person who drinks a beer that was exposed to sunlight for a long period of time will have a mouthful of skunky beer and it is something you’ll never forget. Beer has several natural enemies:

Where did it come from? What’s Salsa Rueda? Salsa music is not something easily defined, as it did not stem from one specific place or person. Instead, it is a combination of multiple roots and cultures as well as the creativity many different persons. In general, Salsa evolved as a fusion of many Latin and Afro-Caribbean dances. It is not only Cuban; nevertheless we must give credit to Cuba for the origin and ancestry of creation, a large part of the dance originated on the island. The French who fled from Haiti brought the Danzón or the country-dance of England /France to Cuba. This dance began to mix with the African rhumbas such as Guaguanco, Colombia and Yambú. Added to this is the Són of the Cuban people, which was a mixture of the Spanish troubadour (sonero) and the African drumbeats. This type of harmonization occurred in other places like the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Colombia, and Puerto Rico, even though in smaller degrees as in

Cuba. Bands of these countries took their music to Mexico City in the era of the famous films of Perez Prado, and shortly after, arrived to New York. It was in New York where the term "Salsa" that means sauce was created. The term became popular as nickname to refer to a variety of different music, from several countries of Hispanic influence: Rhumba, Són Montuno, Guaracha, Mambo, Cha cha cha, Danzón, Són, Guguanco, Cubop, Guajira, Charanga, Cumbia, Plena, Bomba, Festejo, Merengue, among others. Salsa varies from site to site.

The metamorphosis of salsa to what is heard and danced in clubs today has been a long, slow, and varied process. In New York, for example, new instrumentalization and extra percussion were added to some Colombian songs so that New Yorkers that dance mambo "on the two" - can feel comfortable dancing to the rhythm and beat of the song. The board announced that the YLVISAKER Cup will play (20 goals) and newspapers report Equuleus as the unbeatable team. The reasons were immediate; Mariano Gonzalez opened scoring and repeating his deed again and again, he stood out as the scorer of the team to fear. Contemplating these intrepid riders, drawing prowess with the stick on their horses dazzles anyone, but to see Mariano with the ball and disappearing at great speed to score the winning goal dazzled all my senses. We wanted to chat with him to share with our readers a little about the life of this polo player who visits each year and who filled the air of the polo club with screams and cheers. In my opinion, since Argentina is composed of 70% fields ... Many families own them and thus have a chance to raise and ride horses from the time they are little. My grandfather had fields where he raised horses and played polo with my father who taught both my brother and me when I was only 9 years old. My brother left the sport at age 27 and as you can see, I have continued to play polo. I played my first tournament at the age of nine, a very traditional boy’s tournament in Argentina called “La Copa de los Potrillo” or in English “The Cup of the Colts”. Who is your coach now that you are a professional? My coach has always been my father. The fact that he has been a very good player with a handicap of 10 goals and has taught me to play is incomparable!...aside from the basic concepts of the game, he taught me everything referent to the breeding and selection of horses. However, once I started as a professional I trained with coaches from different teams that I belong. It is also very good to watch and learn from fellow colleagues and temporary teammates. What tournaments have marked your professional triumphs that led up to your 8 handicap? Playing the Argentine Open and winning the qualifier at several opportunities. Also,

winning the “Camara de Diputados” in Argentina. Winning the Pacific Coast Open in the USA on several occasions, the Silver and Gold Cups, and several major tournaments always add to that sort of thing. Playing well in a team, to be well organized (horses) is also one of the ways in which to reach your goal. About your family, how many share your passion for polo and how many only for horses? I think my son and I have much passion for polo…although in general we all have a great passion for horses. Horses fascinate my wife Brigida as well as my daughters Serena and Mora. Would you like your son to follow your example in polo? My son is 11 years old (Mariano Jr.) and he plays and rides since he was 4 or 5 years old. For now, he seems to love it, although it is not my intention to force him to play…if he likes it ... fine ... and if he doesn’t he can do something else! I will help him if he decides to play polo in all that I can and if he wants to do anything else, it is welcome. I would like him to consider getting a degree after high school. This year what are the tournaments that you will take part in and with which teams? This year I will participate in the Joe Barry Cup and the Iglehart Cup (20 goals handicap), the CV Whitney, The Gold Cup and U.S. Open (26 goals of handicap). The 20 goals handicap I will play with Equuleus Polo Team and the 26 goals handicap with Hawks Polo Team. Mi opinión es que como Argentina esta compuesta por un 70 % de campo... Hay muchas familias que son propietarios de ellos y de esa manera tienen chance de criar caballos y montar desde muy pequeños. Es más económico cuidar y criar un caballo en Argentina que en otras partes del mundo. Y de esa manera se le hace más fácil a cualquiera poder tener un caballo, criar, montar y de hecho ¡practicar el deporte! Al ser más accesible... se crían mayor cantidad de caballos y de esa manera se agranda el porcentaje de obtener caballos buenos. Los Jugadores, por lo general, venimos de familias que han practicado el deporte en el campo y montamos desde muy chicos. Casi aprendemos a caminar y a montar al mismo tiempo. Yo comencé a los 3 o 4 años de edad. ¿Como fuiste introducido al mundo del polo? y ¿cuando jugaste tu primer torneo? Mi abuelo tenía campos donde criaba caballos y allí jugaba al polo con mi padre quien nos enseño tanto a mi hermano como a mí cuando yo tan solo tenía 9 años. Mi primer torneo lo jugué a los 9 años de edad, un torneo de chicos muy tradicional en Argentina que se llama "La Copa de los Potrillos". ¿Quien es tu coach ahora que eres profesional? El hecho de que el haya sido muy buen jugador con handicap 10 goles y me haya enseñado a jugar es incomparable!... además de los conceptos básicos del juego, me enseño todo lo referente a la crianza y selección de caballos. Jugar el Abierto Argentino y haber ganado la clasificación para el mismo en varias oportunidades. También ganar la Cámara de Diputados en Argentina. En USA haber ganado el Pacific Coast Open en varias oportunidades, la Silver y Gold Cups, y varios torneos de importancia siempre suma para ese tipo de cosas. Jugar bien en equipo, estar bien organizado (caballos) es también una de las formas como se logra el objetivo. De tu familia, ¿Cuantos comparten la pasión por el polo y cuantos solamente por los caballos? Creo que mi hijo y yo tenemos mucha pasión por el polo... aunque todos en general tenemos una gran pasión por los caballos. The cloning of a sheep named Dolly was a historic event. Dolly was born on July 5th, 1996. She lived for six years until 2003, and was the first mammal to be successfully cloned from the cell of an adult. The Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer was the new technique through which she was conceived; in this process, a cell is placed in an ovum where the nucleus has been removed. The host reprograms the somatic cell nucleus; then, after the right stimulus is applied, the ovum will begin to divide and develop into an embryo that will be placed in a mare, which carries it to term and gives birth to a genetic clone of the animal whose DNA began the process. The seventh species to be cloned was the horse. The first cloned horse, Prometea, was born in 2003 at the Laboratory of Reproductive Technology, Cremona, Italy. The first cloned horse created in the United States by Texas A&M University was born in 2005 and named Paris Texas. Because of the expense associated with this procedure, cloning is not something to be done on the average animal. Only four labs have achieved cloning a horse successfully and have reported their birth. These labs are: Texas A&M University, ViaGen, the lab of Dr. Cesare Galli in Italy and just recently, in October 2010, the secret birth of Latin America's first reported cloned horse has been revealed as part of

On the other hand, powerful horse associations have enacted rules forbidding the registration of clones, a prohibition that prevents the animals from competing in breed-sanctioned events and lessens their stud value. The American Quarter Horse Association has prohibited registration of any clone. So has the Jockey Club, the association that regulates the registration of thoroughbreds. In fact, the Jockey Club will not allow any foal to be registered that has been produced by artificial insemination, embryo transfer or transplant, cloning or any other form of genetic manipulation.

Cloning is a powerful research tool that can help scientists find cures for diseases in horses and other animals. As an example, ViaGen, Inc. has become partners with the Monash Institute of Melbourne, Australia, to harness equine stem cells to repair tendon, ligament and cartilage and bone damage in horses. The cloning process also can help preserve for future breeding generations the equine genetics of great competitive horses that often are gelded or castrated, before their athletic progress can be discovered. ViaGen also provides the service of gene banking, which will allow the preservation of an animal’s genes to be available for future use. Gene banking is a simple and inexpensive guarantee that your animal’s genetics are saved. The price to gene bank an animal at ViaGen is $1500. The annual storage fee is $150 per animal gene banked; the price for cloning a horse is $165,000.

CLONACION DE CABALLOS La clonación de una oveja llamada Dolly fue un acontecimiento histórico. Dolly nació el 5 de julio de 1996. Ella vivió durante seis años hasta 2003, y fue el primer mamífero clonado a partir de la célula de un adulto. La Transferencia Nuclear de Células Somáticas fue la nueva técnica a través del cual ella fue concebida, en este proceso, se coloca una célula en un óvulo donde el núcleo ha sido removido. FLYING Join Venture for General Dynamics & Gulfstream

General Dynamics Aviation Services, a network of five service-center locations and Gulfstream Product Support will begin operating under the Gulfstream name on Jan. 1, 2011. Gulfstream and General Dynamics acquired their service locations by purchasing K-C Aviation from Kimberly Clark Corp. in 1998 and Signature Regional Maintenance Centers from BBA Aviation in 2001. Since the acquisition, those locations have provided service to Gulfstream Aircraft as well as other original equipment manufacturers (OEM). The five centers will continue to service Challenger, Falcon, Gulfstream, Hawker and other manufacturers' business-jet aircraft. "We expect the service to get even better as we continue to expand our service organization," said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream Product Support and General Dynamics Aviation Services. Burns will continue to have responsibility for the consolidated service network after the name change. General Dynamics Aviation Services has facilities in five U.S. locations including West Palm Beach, FL and Gulfstream also has five service centers in the U.S. and one in Luton, England. Regressive period to save the Planet!

In just one hundred years of the 200,000 that men have been on Earth, we have broken the environmental balance that for almost four billion years of evolution had been established on the planet. Oil as an energy source, opened the doors of a new industrial revolution, allowing us a more comfortable life, but at what price? The energy from oil has brought prosperity to the nations, improving our education, health, transportation and developing new technologies. The demand for a myriad of items to keep new standards of living, fashion and beauty, everything is supported on oil energy. For every dollar we spend, 50 cents is to cover the energy cost of the item we bought. Globalization did not wait, increasing the exchange of products at great distances transported by ships worldwide. In this fast pace of life and this industrialization without environmental controls, we have polluted all the elements of nature, we have interrupted the life cycle of many animals and plants facing extinction, we have even changed the planetâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s climate. Global warming is the challenge that we must confront immediately. Scientists say that the Earth could warm an additional 7.2 degrees Fahrenheit during the XXI Century unless we reduce fossil fuel emissions like coal and petroleum. This increase in average temperature will have far-reaching effects. The Polar Caps will melt raising sea levels, flooding coastal areas. Heat waves will become more frequent and more 44

intense. Droughts and wildfires will occur more often. Disease carrying mosquitoes will expand their range and push some species to extinction. We are living a crucial period. Scientist tells us that we only have 10 years to avoid a catastrophe, only 10 years so that together we can stop the environmental disaster looming climate. (I recommend that you see HOME on youtube, a documentary that explains the problem with spectacular and dramatic film images). That is why clean energy has gained momentum in the political, economic and social development. Known as clean energy or also called green energy, renewable energy those that do not pollute, that is, whose method of production or use do not emit sub products that could negatively affect the environment. Among the sources of greatest potential is the wind, nuclear and solar energy. These clean energy sources, also have the advantage of being indigenous and not dependent on oil trade and they generate new sources of local jobs, and make sustainable progress possible. To ensure a future for coming generations, we must also develop awareness and a culture of energy saving by condemning waste. Clean energy production, is therefore not an attempt to improve the environment, but an urgent need to ensure diversity and survival of the Planet.

En tan solo cien años de los 200.000 que llevamos los hombres sobre la Tierra, hemos roto el equilibrio ambiental que durante casi cuatro mil millones de años de evolución se había establecido en el planeta. El petróleo como fuente de energía, abrió las puertas de una nueva revolución industrial permitiéndonos una vida más confortable, ¿pero a que precio? A este paso acelerado de vida y esta industrialización sin controles ambientales, hemos contaminado todos los elementos de la naturaleza, hemos interrumpido el ciclo de vida de muchos animales y plantas que encaran la extinción, hemos cambiado hasta el clima del planeta. El calentamiento de la Tierra es el reto que debemos confrontar inmediatamente. Los científicos dicen que la Tierra podría calentarse 7.2 grados Fahrenheit más durante el Siglo XXI si no reducimos las emisiones causadas por los combustibles fósiles, como el carbón y el petróleo. Los científicos nos dicen que tan solo tenemos 10 años para evitar una catástrofe, sólo quedan 10 años para que entre todos podamos frenar la catástrofe ambiental y climática que se avecina. Es por ello que las energías limpias han cobrado fuerza en los ámbitos político, económico y social. Se conoce como energías limpias o también llamadas las energías verdes, aquellas energías renovables que no contaminan, es decir, cuyo modo de obtención o uso no emite subproductos que puedan incidir negativamente en el medio ambiente. Entre las fuentes de mayor potencial están la eólica (viento), energía nuclear y la solar. Estas fuentes limpias de energías, además tienen la ventaja de ser autóctonas y no dependen de un comercio como el petróleo, generan nuevas fuentes de empleos locales, y hacen posible el progreso sostenible. Para asegurar un futuro para las próximas generaciones, debemos además desarrollar una conciencia y una cultura del ahorro energético condenando el despilfarro. La producción de energías limpias, no es por tanto un intento de mejorar el medio ambiente, sino una necesidad urgente para asegurar la diversidad y supervivencia del Planeta.
