Happy Mother's Day I have to say that my sister and I feel a little guilty when it comes to Mother's Day. We are both in Australia and Mum is in England, and as Mother's Day is on a different day in both countries, poor Mum seems to miss out. So, I thought as I was putting this together, I am going to dedicate this booklet to you Mum. People have written some beautiful responses about what Mother's Day means to them and you will find them throughout the booklet. "My mother Carmel is the youngest of six sisters from Warwick in Queensland. All six were proficient in piano, singing and violin with one of her sisters being quite a well known local prodigy. Carmel still has a beautifully clear soprano voice and can be seen in action in Byron Bay at the local Catholic Church where she is the organist and runs the choir. I am totally indebted to Carmel and her sisters for their musical inspiration and support. They were always incredibly encouraging to me and to all my brothers and sisters when we were young.

These past few years I have had performances on Mother’s Day and Carmel has travelled to Sydney to listen and sometimes to suggest repertoire. I always cast with her voice in mind as hers was the first voice I fell in love with and it has remained a constant reference in my life.
