David James and Big River are often described as one of the most authentic Johnny Cash tribute shows touring today. Thousands of fans agree with those reviews, as they routinely sell out shows in venues large and small across Canada and the U.S. James and his band look and sound like the legacy of the Man in Black, and when they step on stage, they live it. From the way Cash holds his guitar to the way he talks to his audience, the legendary musician lives again when James steps to the mike and says, “Hello – I’m almost Johnny Cash.” The professionalism of the musicians on and off stage is a testament to the memory of Cash that fans have come to expect from David James and Big River. The extensive catalogue of songs, from classics like Walk the Line, Get Rhythm and Boy Named Sue, to newer hits like Rusty Cage and Hurt, attracts audiences of young and old alike to relive the music of Johnny Cash. Relationships Seminar: A powerful day of growth and learning in a relationship. Hosted by Pastors Fred and Janet Farren. 9am at Gateway Foursquare Church, 403 5TH Ave. Entrelac Afghan or Shawl: Knit with your scraps of sock weight yarn (or 6 new yarns) and enjoy the changing colours on this technique driven project from designer Sally Melville. 10am at Needle & Art Centre, 990A Shoppers Row. 250-287-8898 Health Light and Love/Spiritual Wellness Fair: Psychics, Energy Healers, Iridology, Angel Card Readers, Tarot, Crystals, Spiritual Gifts, Aura, Intuitive, Holistic and much more 10am at Willow Point Hall, 2165 S. “It’s not only about the voice,” James said. “It’s about living and breathing the man – his posture, his mannerisms, his moves and his quirks. I want our audiences to go home feeling like they just observed the man himself.” James is succeeding. According to Lisa Wilton at the Calgary Sun, “James does his best to look the part – black is the primary colour from his hair down to his shoes – but it’s his uncanny vocal similarity to Cash that is most impressive. Even when he talks, James has the singer’s low rumble down pat.” The Man in Black might be gone, but David James and Big River are fulfilling the continuing demand for his music and keeping the memory of the legend alive in the hearts and minds of fans everywhere. At the Tidemark Theatre, April 13th - 7.30pm

When you turn on the radio and for that split second hear a single sustained guitar note layered over latin percussion, it is instantly recognizable as Santana. His guitar tone, vibrato, and swing in the music is so distinct, moving listeners into an aural state of bliss. Carols Santana is a true showman with legendary shows and a band that is always of the highest calibre, but we seldom see him out this way on tour. Fortunately, Supernatural, the Santana tribute show that truly honours the legend, will be hitting the Tidemark Theatre on Sunday May 5th. Led by award-winning guitarist Doug Towle, who is truly on of Canada’s premier guitarists, Supernatural brings together six top musicians of the highest calibre to faithfully recreate an epic selection of Santana’s hits, deeper tracks, and covers that he is well-known for—and of course percussion will play a major part in the show!
