1 Paper panels

STEP BY STEP GUIDE

1.1 Refer to below diagram, place masking tape #T1 Light blue 1”, mark a straight line across the floor of the installation area. Then, mark seven small increments across the straight line to indicate the position of each of the six paper panels. This line will be used to determine the positioning of the paper panels when hung from the ceiling. The masking tape will remain in place for the duration of the exhibition.

Components required: • #5 Paper panels (with wooden bar, screw): Short panel (120 x 220 cm), 2 pieces long panel (130 x 220 cm), 4 pieces • #T1 Masking tape (1” Light blue)

1.2 The top wooden bars to hang the paper panels are screwed thereon and packed as such, and can be hung as is. No need to

2.1 Attach wooden bars #E1-E10 to the bottom of the paper panels using 1.5-inch black binder clip. Refer to diagram on P.13-14 for position and distance between wooden bars.

3.1 Projector positions Refer to below diagram to set the four projectors on the floor. Distance between each of the projectors and the paper panels is

Each pair of opposing projectors would form a line that is perpendicular to the paper panels and bisect the local group of three paper panels.

3.2 Switching on projector and media player

Connect the power cord and HDMI cable with the media player. Turn on the projector. Use the remote control to switch on the media player. The panel on the media player turns blue when it is on. Once media player is on: -

3.3 Video files and projection finetuning Insert SD card to the media player corresponding to its position. Allow for 1cm of the projection to project outside the paper panels such that light can leak onto the surrounding area. See reference images in the next page.

However, at the intersection of the four projections in the center (between the third and the fourth paper panels), there shall not be any overlapping. This intersection shall be clean and crisp.

To place #D1 scale model (astronaut), place a bean size of Blu Tack (white) on the top wooden bar of paper panel. Attach the end of fishing line to the back of scale model and adjust the position carefully.

To place #D2 scale model (photographer), place a bean size of Blu Tack (white) in between paper panels on the surface of A side, fix the scale model on the Blu Tack. The figure faces inward into the gap of two paper panels.

Set up black masking tape after other loose objects. Direction on p.27.
