However our interpretation of what we are seeing thru our lens is based on the context in which we are seeing it, since Brownes Beach Is Part of Barbados' Culture Gittens,William Anderson,Author, Cinematographer, Dip., Com., Arts. B.A. Media Arts Specialists’ Editor in Chief Devgro Media Arts Services Publishing®2015 License Cultural Practitioner, Publisher, Student of Film, CEO Devgro Media Arts Services®2015 which has become a major part of what we see. For example, a photograph of Brownes Beach is just a selection which is also a part of Barbados' Culture from that overall cultural landscape of Barbados' which is 34 kilometres (21 miles) in length and up to 23 km (14 mi) in width, covering an area of 432 km2 (167 sq mi). It is in the western area of the North Atlantic and 100 km (62 mi) east of the Windward Islands and the Caribbean Sea; therein, Barbados is the most easterly of the Caribbean Islands. Between the period 1995 to 2016, I have discovered that the more that I practice this leisure pursuit profession it seemed to be infectious among other elements. The other elements such as being passionate and prolific combined together with the Creator’s help, made me a productive writer to the extent that I have now published 161 books. In light of the aforesaid, I have decided to dedicate my 66 Th publication “A Tribute to Culture” Vol 1 in memory of Dr. Joseph Drew. All of the above information contributed to my academic developmental journey. Barbados' is a continental island in the North Atlantic Ocean and is located at 13°10' north of the equator, and 59°32' west of the Prime Meridian. As the easternmost isle of the Lesser Antilles in the West Indies, Barbados' lies 160 kilometres (100 mi) east of the Windward Islands and Caribbean Sea. The maritime claim for Barbados' is a territorial sea of 12 nmi (22.2 km; 13.8 mi), with an exclusive economic zone of 200 nmi (370.4 km; 230.2 mi) which gives Barbados' a total maritime area of 186,898 km2 (72,162 sq mi). Of the total EEZ area 70,000 km2, is set aside for offshore oil exploration. A pending application to UNCLOS has placed for consideration a continental shelf 200 nmi (370.4 km; 230.2 mi) to the east and south (or to the edge of the continental margin). To the west, most of Barbados' maritime boundaries consist of median lines with neighbours. These neighbours include: Martinique, and Saint Lucia to the northwest, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the west, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela to the southwest, and Guyana to the southeast. The coast of Venezuela, South America and Barbados'Barbados' total land area is 430 km2 (166.0 sq mi), and it has a coastline of 97 km (60 mi) length. Sometimes compared to a pear or leg of mutton for its physical shape. Along the north–south axis Barbados' has a maximum length of 34 kilometres (21 mi), and east–west maximum breadth of 23 kilometres (14 mi). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geography_of_Barbados'

They include, from north to south, the English-speaking island of Dominica; the French département of Martinique; the English-speaking islands of Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, and Grenada; and, between Saint Vincent and Grenada, the chain of small islands known as the Grenadines. Though near the general area, Trinidad and Tobago (at the south end of the group) and Barbados' (just east) are usually not considered part of the Windward Islands. ”Joseph, Cedric. History ISBN978-976-96531-6-0

Barbados', island country in the southeastern Caribbean Sea, situated about 100 miles (160 km) east of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Roughly triangular in shape, the island measures some 20 miles (32 km) from northwest to southeast and about 15 miles (25 km) from east to west at its widest point. The capital and largest town is Bridgetown, which is also the main seaport. IThe geographic position of Barbados' has profoundly influenced the island’s history and culture and aspects of its economic life. Barbados' is not part of the nearby archipelago of the Lesser Antilles, although it is usually grouped with it. The island is of different geologic formation; it is less mountainous and has less variety in plant and animal life. As the first Caribbean landfall from Europe and Africa, Barbados' has functioned since the late 17th century as a major link between western Europe (mainly Great Britain), eastern Caribbean territories, and parts of the South American mainland. The island was a British possession without interruption from the 17th century to 1966, when it attained independence. Because of its long association with Britain, the culture of Barbados' is probably more British than is that of any other Caribbean island, though elements of the African culture of the majority population have been prominent. Since independence, cultural nationalism has been fostered as part of the process of nationbuilding. The rocks underlying Barbados' consist of sedimentary deposits, including thick shales, clays, sands, and conglomerates, laid down approximately 70 million years ago. Above these rocks are chalky deposits, which were capped with coral before the island rose to the surface. A layer of coral up to 300 feet (90 metres) thick covers the island, except in the northeast physiographic region known as the Scotland District, which covers about 15 percent of the area, where erosion has removed the coral cover. The government has adopted a conservation plan to prevent further erosion. https://www.britannica.com/place/Barbados' Encyclopædia Britannica, Inc.West Indies Encyclopædia Britannica, Inc.

According to Bob Gruen thru his lens Photography offers both limitations and opportunities when we attempt to use it as a tool for documentation while photography would seem to be the most realistic way around us, this not necessarily true. Our interpretation of what we are seeing based on the context in which we are seeing it, becomes a major part of what we see. For example, a photograph is just a selection from that overall scene. Once this selection has become a photograph it is completely isolated from the overall context in which it original existed. Gruen further stated that making worthwhile cultural photographs is often not as simple as clicking the shutter, however, it requires curiosity to see what is significant in the world around us and the discipline to photographically document it. It requires a thoughtful selection of what is to be photographed. https://lensmagazine.net/about-cultural-photography/

The natural beauty, culture and heritage of Barbados will be reflected in the design and construction of Hyatt Centric Carlisle Bay, Barbados A major new branded hotel is coming to Barbados.

Hyatt has announced an agreement by a Hyatt affiliate with Vision Developments Inc. to open a Hyatt Centric hotel in Carlisle Bay.

The project, which is slated to open in 2019, will be the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Barbados.

It will be designed by SB Architects, with interiors by DAS Concepts.

“Hyatt continues to focus on expanding its presence in Latin America and the Caribbean where our loyal guests want to travel. We are thrilled to announce that the Hyatt Centric brand is coming to this vibrant tropical island, and we believe Hyatt Centric Carlisle Bay, Barbados will offer a fresh new option for travelers looking to explore this historic and picturesque destination,” said Pat McCudden, senior vice president, capital strategy, real estate and corporate development for Hyatt. “The addition of Hyatt Centric Carlisle Bay, Barbados to the brand’s portfolio allows us to meet the needs of our guests traveling on leisure or business in this important region,” added McCudden.

The property will be located adjacent to Bridgetown, with 237 rooms on three acres of waterfront in Carlisle Bay’s Brownes Beach.

The property will also include 32 Hyatt Centric-branded condominium units, along with a signature restaurant, pool bar and grill and a cafe, along with a spa.

“Vision Developments is excited to partner with Hyatt to bring the Hyatt Centric brand to Carlisle Bay. We believe this project will serve as a catalyst for the development of many more hotel and real estate projects in the area, continuing Carlisle Bay’s transformation into a world-class resort destination,” said Mark Maloney, director of Vision Developments Inc. “Our team will ensure that the natural beauty, culture and heritage of Barbados will be reflected in the design and construction of Hyatt Centric Carlisle Bay, Barbados, and we look forward to working with the government, local regulatory agencies, companies and tradesmen on the island to make this project a success.”

The hotel will be the first Hyatt Centric in the Caribbean, and the second outside of the United States.

33 Personal Conclusions ISBN978-976-96531-6-0 Since Barbadians are part of the global diaspora nuance invariably they became richer in knowledge regarding culture as a result of photography.

Metaphorically speaking photography is a tool used by global citizens’ especially Barbadians to tell our story thru our lens.

In view of the aforesaid, however, it should be noted that our interpretation of what we are seeing thru our lens is based on the context in which we are seeing it, since Brownes Beach Is Part of Barbados' Culture which has become a major part of what we see since Barbados offers you more than 80 pristine white-sand beaches, including many that are recognised as the most beautiful beaches in the world. https://www.visitBarbados'.org/

It is in the western area of the North Atlantic and 100 km (62 mi) east of the Windward Islands and the Caribbean Sea; therein, Barbados' is the most easterly of the Caribbean Islands.

(b) As a result of photography they became richer in knowledge regarding culture

(c) Metaphorically speaking photography is a tool used by global citizens’ especially Barbadians to tell our story thru our lens.

(d) Barbados offers you more than 80 pristine white-sand beaches, including many that are recognised as the most beautiful beaches in the world. https://www.visitBarbados'.org/

(e) Overall our interpretation of what we are seeing thru our lens is based on the context in which we are seeing it,

(f) Brownes Beach Is Part of Barbados' Culture which has become a major part of what we see.

(g) A photograph of Brownes Beach is just a selection which is also a part of Barbados' Culture from that overall cultural landscape

(h) Barbados is 34 kilometres (21 miles) in length and up to 23 km (14 mi) in width, covering an area of 432 km2 (167 sq mi).

(i) It is in the western area of the North Atlantic and 100 km (62 mi) east of the Windward Islands and the Caribbean Sea;

(j) Barbados is the most easterly of the Caribbean Islands.

(k) Brownes Beach Bridgetown Barbados has sentimental value because my grandparents, parents, and my wife and I socialised here.
