Revolutionary greetings to you all. I trust this communique finds you well. Please receive the following as an update on the state of Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe African National Union (Patriotic Front), (ZANUPF). Following the harmonised elections of July 2018 where his Excellency President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa won by over 400000 votes the country has undergone a series of events. Starting off with the Constitutional Court where the leader of an opposition alliance Nelson Chamisa contested results in spite of ZANUPF’s convincing win. The matter was later disregarded by the Highest Court of the Land after lack of evidence to support the allegations. The revolutionary party was given a fresh mandate to govern, we are extremely proud of ourselves considering that the electorate was predominantly youth. I would like to take this chance to also express that the party has no agenda for a Government of National Unity. The electoral process was predominantly peaceful serve for the 1st of August 2018, when rogue demonstrators from the opposition MDC Alliance took to the streets of Harare demanding the immediate release of the election results disregarding the process that had to be undertaken by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission. The demonstrations resulted in some injuries and cases of loss of life. His Excellency President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, following these events appointed a Commission of Inquiry in terms of section 2(1) of the Commissions of Inquiry Act [Chapter 10:07] through Proclamation Number 6 of 2018 published in Statutory Instrument 181 of 2018, with specific Terms of Reference contained therein. On the 18th of December 2018 the report into the August 1st incident was released. The commission of inquiry was independent and transparent and results can be accessed from this link http://kubatana.net/2018/12/18/report-commissioninquiry-1-august-2018-post-election-violence/ On January 14th 2019 the opposition alliance Movement for Democratic Change – Alliance (MDC-A), led by Nelson Chamisa together with other civic organizations as well as western influencers instigated violent demonstrations which was an attempt to undermine a legitimately and constitutionally elected President, His Excellency Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. The country went under a complete shut down and the general populous was made to stay home by these thugs. There was burning of tyres, destruction of property, government infrastructure and looting, inability to move freely within the country, shops and other basic services were made unavailable. The party then undertook a research to understand what the root cause of the violent demonstrations was. It was found out that the demonstrations were being coordinated through the use of social media. In a bid to counter that, the country went through a brief complete social media shut down in efforts to calm the situation. Zimbabwe is a democratic country where people’s rights are greatly respected. In as much as anyone has the right to protest that does not mean that the right supersedes other rights such as the right to free movement, food and shelter. These rights were violated as a result of the imposed shut down. The shut down lasted a mere four days having things slowly normalizing by the 3rd day. As a party we are grateful for the role that the citizens and police enforcement played in ensuring that the situation did not get out of control. I regret to inform you that we faced some casualties as a result of this bogus initiative and the Party is extremely distraught and saddened by this. We are aware that there were some forces that were working against the Party and the President, those are being dealt with accordingly. Currently I am happy to inform you that the situation is very calm and its business as usual in Zimbabwe. The Party has undergone dialogue with both senior and youth members of opposition parties in efforts to unite for social, economic and political prosperity of our beloved Zimbabwe. The Youth League is in the process of undertaking national dialogues with members from the opposition political parties to be able to find out from the grassroots ways to provide effective solutions for the youth. The National Youth Dialogues are constructive Dialogue Forums on Socio-Economic and Political issues and will be used as a tool to mobilise the youth for full participation in those key areas. This will help the youth league communicate the idea of harnessing skills, modern technology and 21st century innovations and inventions for the economic rehabilitation of Zimbabwe. True to form, the governing Party through its Youth League arm has sought to take a proactive lead in the facilitation of a research which aims to gather empirical evidence towards the conscientisation of its constituent demographic grouping to the multi polar economic transformative initiatives of the government and vice versa. That is to say the effort seeks to synchronise the youth economic initiatives with government policy directives towards a common aspiration of unlocking the average Zimbabwean youth’s economic potential. Zimbabwe’s development target – as stated in Vision 2030 - is to attain a middle income status by 2030. The research entitled The Zimbabwean Youth Economic Transformation Outlook: A Path To A Middle-Income Economy 2030. The Youth League aims to reshape public perception of Youth League and show that the League is Progressive, with new age youth ambassadors that are innovative, idea centered, transparent and authentic. The Youth league intends to broaden its horizons through engaging with both the regional and international community. The Youth league intends to visit sister revolutionary parties to strategize effective working relations. In addition to that the Party through the Youth League is in the process of setting up an internal Cyber Media Centre that will be dedicated to using modern technology and approaches to defending the revolution. Through this centre the Party will be able to create better and more effective channels of communication. We appreciate the confidence and support that has been given to the Party and we hope we continue to work together successfully for the betterment of our beloved Africa and safeguarding the revolution that our forefathers fought relentlessly for. VIVA ZANU PF VIVA! VIVA YOUTH VIVA! VIVA AFRICA VIVA!
