Celebrating with our Charity Partner

The Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton

The Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton hosted a Ribbon Cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 18th to commend their new Book Vending machine provided by the Wexford Foundation. The event was part of the organization’s literacy celebration where they recognized children for their accomplishments in the Lexia Reading program. Family members attended the special ceremony to celebrate their children’s reading success.

The Book Vending machine complements the organization’s literacy program that helps children develop critical reading skills at their own pace. Staff & families joined together as Mark Brown, grants chair of the Wexford Foundation, cut the ribbon in celebration of its kick-off.

“We absolutely love our Book Vending machine and are so very thankful for the Wexford Foundation grant,” said Tricia Evans, literacy director. “This creates a small library in the classroom and enables children to own a book that truly interests them.”

Every child participating in the reading program received one or more gold coins to select books from the vending machine to start creating their own personal library. The children’s excitement and joy were experienced by all as award certificates and coins were distributed to celebrate this special day.

For over 25 years the Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton has played a critical role in the lives of young people.
