Hello Neighbors, Letter from the Board President

Park, the Board is asking the membership to vote for a change that would at least make the concept feasible. If passed, the Committee would then have the ability to create a plan that the owners could vote on at some stage in the future.

I am sitting writing on a rainy Sunday towards the end of May, having had a very enjoyable morning yesterday playing in the men’s short course tournament. Mother Nature has finally cooperated and we have been enjoying our first two weeks of consistently warmer weather. As predicted, the grass is getting greener, stronger and is growing. The dreaded Poa is weakening and the soil conditions are now allowing our dedicated grounds staff to resod and rebuild.

Our new GM, Patrick McGuire, is no longer so new. He recently moved his family into their permanent home and has passed his six-month anniversary. I must commend his boundless enthusiasm and responsive attitude. Whether it be his very early morning emails and texts or his competence in managing all of the diverse departments that comprise the Wexford community organization, he is working tirelessly as our General Manager and doing a very fine job. Amongst his top priorities at the moment are the recruitment of a new Executive Chef. We have received a good number of initial applications and I am hopeful a decision can be made soon.

With the warmer weather arriving, I am pleased to see activity in all of our varied amenities. I am especially glad to see Waves up and running and as ever well attended. Given its popularity, look out for some extension to the hours in the near future.

Our Amenities and Planning Committee has been immersed over much of the last two or three months to the development of a plan to enhance our facilities. The extensive neighborhood listening sessions revealed a strong appetite for the redevelopment of the clubhouse and a more modest rebuild of our Harbor Center. To slightly lesser degrees, support for a Wellness Center, a Dog Park, and various other amenities was identified or verified. Where possible, they will all be included in the strategic road map so that they are preserved and can be addressed in sequence. Since the current language in our covenants does not permit the operation of a Dog

As I look to the next few months, the Board and management are working on several important documents that directly impact membership. First, we are developing our Strategic Vision. This will be a living document that captures important concepts including our vision, mission, and values that our current and future Boards, members and employees can refer to as well as modify as necessary to reflect then current circumstances. We anticipate circulating a draft of this document in the next two months and look forward to your feedback. In addition, we are working on the 2023 Member Survey. We will be launching that a little earlier this year so that we may have results before our annual plan is voted on. Likewise, the employee survey will also be completed approximately 8 weeks earlier than last year.

Finally, I do want to share with you one challenge that we are facing. Despite all of the positive things referenced above, Wexford is not immune from the rather severe changes occurring in the insurance world. As some of you may be aware from dealing with your own private insurers, Wexford is being impacted not only by demands for much higher premiums, but also to accept less comprehensive coverage. Our Finance team and the Finance Committee are diligently working through this. Although they have been able to identify areas of savings, the net result will be that we will have coverage, but at an annualized premium increase in excess of $100k.

I hope that like me, you will agree that we have observed some very constructive and organized progress so far this year. There is much to look forward to, so stay tuned for details of our upcoming 40th Anniversary celebrations, and with your support, our exciting plans to make Wexford an even more enjoyable place to call home for now and long into the future.

Have a great Summer!

Sincerely, Stephen
