They operate a fabulously diverse selection of voyages across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, navigating the world’s great rivers in supreme style, from the Mekong to the Nile.
As their ships accommodate an average of just 156 guests, you can expect intimate and uncrowded public spaces, along with elegant staterooms and suites, and access to the likes of sun decks, swimming pools, whirlpools and fitness studios. Delectable onboard meals are recognised by the prestigious French culinary society La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, while a signature Chef’s Table experience is included once on each voyage, featuring a masterfully prepared multi-course meal accompanied by specially selected fine wines.
Besides relaxing and making the most of the onboard amenities, there are numerous opportunities on every journey to disembark for expert-led guided tours and culinary experiences, or to explore independently at your own pace.
Extraordinary journeys on the Nile
There’s no better way to discover the ancient wonders and hidden treasures of Egypt than a luxury river cruise on the Nile, taking in everything from grand palaces and majestic temple complexes to traditional Nubian villages and the tombs of renowned pharaohs. AmaWaterways’ Egyptian voyages sail between Luxor and Aswan, beginning with a three-night pre-cruise stay in Cairo which includes a guided visit to the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx.
What’s more, AmaWaterways’ guests are already enjoying access to selected exhibits at the all-new Grand Egyptian Museum, whose official full opening is slated for later in 2025. Housing over 100,000 artefacts across 12 chronologically arranged galleries, this state-of-the-art museum will take visitors on a fascinating journey from prehistoric times all the way through to the comparatively modern periods of Greek and Roman rule.
In 2024, AmaWaterways’ Egyptian presence was bolstered by the launch of a brand new ship, the ultrastylish AmaLilia, which joined the already highly regarded AmaDahlia on Africa’s longest river. Both ships have expansive sun decks, open-air pools, a main restaurant and a Chef’s Table speciality restaurant serving both classic local dishes and international favourites. Expert Egyptologists are present on every sailing, providing detailed insights and stories about the people and places that have shaped Egypt’s history through the millennia.

Home to jungle-shrouded hills, mist-veiled karst peaks, sleepy riverside villages and vibrant cities where ornate Buddhist temples stand side-by-side with French colonial architecture and lively street food markets, it’s easy to see why Laos is gaining a reputation as one of Southeast Asia’s most alluring destinations. While neighbouring Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia continue to take the limelight, Laos is a compelling, off-beat alternative, drawing those in search of enriching cultural experiences, intensely flavourful cuisine and astonishingly diverse landscapes.
The Mekong River: the lifeblood of Laos
Meandering almost 5,000 kilometres through six countries, from the Tibetan Plateau to the South China Sea, the Mekong is one of the world’s great rivers. It’s a vital resource for the region’s biodiversity and industrial activity, supporting millions of people and countless ecosystems. Nowhere is this more true than in Laos, where the Mekong flows almost the entire length of the country like a liquid thread weaving from the far north to the southernmost tip, embedding itself in the cultural and economic fabric of urban and rural communities alike.
Introducing the Bohème
Sailing between Laos’ delightfully laid-back capital, Vientiane, and UNESCO-listed Luang Prabang, a city renowned for its rich cultural and architectural heritage, the Bohème transports guests on an intimate exploration of the Mekong’s most scenic stretches. Whether sailing upstream or downstream, each journey offers a unique
13-day river cruise holiday
insight into daily life in Laos’ remote, rural villages while passing by spectacular limestone karst formations, sprawling caves and lush rice paddies. Along the way, there’s also the opportunity to visit the majestic Kuang Si Falls, see elephants up close, take a cooking class and witness a traditional ‘Tak Bat’ ritual.
Meals aboard the Bohème are an ode to Laos’ culinary heritage – think spicy soups, curries and grilled fish –while the bar serves up exquisite cocktails, a thoughtfully curated selection of wines and cold, deliciously crisp Lao beer. The 13 suites (spread across three categories) are a masterclass in boutique design, featuring teak floors, ceramic basins, handwoven Laotian textiles and floor-toceiling windows with sweeping river views. Guests also have access to a spa, a glass-walled fitness room, and a spacious sun deck with shaded loungers – perfect for relaxing and admiring the ever-shifting scenery as you drift along the Mekong in style.
Explore the sights of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, before a day trip to the limestone landscapes of Vang Vieng for light trekking, cave exploration and tranquil kayaking. Then, embark on a five-night cruise aboard the Bohème, sailing the Upper Mekong to Luang Prabang, where you’ll explore golden temples, meet elephants and enjoy authentic street food.
PRICES FROM £7,825 PP incl. flights, UK airport lounge access, private transfers, 5 nights hotel accommodation on B&B basis, 5-night luxury Mekong river cruise with all meals and a programme of shared excursions, & selected private touring. For a full itinerary, visit wexas.com/184537

And of course, the 1960s-inspired jazz band adds to the classy ambience. Another thoughtful touch was that most of the train’s crew made the effort to introduce themselves personally. Indeed, terrific service is at the heart of the whole experience.
First impressions
As I made my way through to my cabin, I was struck by the intricate detail of the train’s glamorous interiors. The walls are covered in a soft, light red fabric and adorned with golden-framed, black-and-white photographs of Italian film stars and scenes from the 1950s and ‘60s.

The food served in the dining carriage really is one of the highlights of the journey, with an Italian-themed menu designed by three-Michelin-starred chef, Heinz Beck. Unsurprisingly, both the quality and presentation absolutely reflects that.

Nestled beneath several of the highest peaks in the Alps, including Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn, is the Aosta Valley. This spectacular northwestern corner of Italy lends itself perfectly to a road trip that blends history, culture, culinary delights and outdoor adventures in abundance. For a taste of what to expect, here are the region’s highlights.
Aosta
The largest town in the region, Aosta, is steeped in Roman heritage, with archaeological remains dating back to 25 bc and an ancient amphitheatre built in the first century ad. Beneath the town’s cathedral, meanwhile, is the Criptoportico Forense, a horseshoeshaped, colonnaded underground walkway, also from the Roman era. As well as immersing yourself in Aosta’s rich history, it’s worth taking the cable car to nearby Pila for superb views overlooking the valley and the surrounding mountain range.
Cogne
From just outside Aosta, an exceptionally scenic road weaves through a steep-sided valley to Cogne, a historic village on the fringes of Gran Paradiso National Park. You can easily pass several hours slowly ambling among its cobbled lanes, admiring the traditional slate-roofed houses and indulging in the region’s exquisite wines and cheeses. The nearby botanical gardens and meadows also make a delightful setting for a leisurely stroll.
Courmayeur
Close to the French border towards the western end of the Aosta Valley lies the charming town of Courmayeur,

dramatically framed by no fewer than 14 peaks exceeding 4,000 metres – including Mont Blanc itself. From here, take a ride on the Mont Blanc Skyway (a 360-degree rotating cable car that ascends to 3,466 metres above sea level), visit the Saussurea Alpine Botanical Gardens, or treat yourself to a spa day at the thermal baths of Pré Saint Didier.
Bard
The medieval village of Bard sits on the banks of the Dora Baltea river, at the entrance to the Champorcher Valley – a haven for hiking and kayaking. Its centrepiece is an 11th-century hilltop fortress which has been fully restored and now houses an excellent museum detailing the history and culture of the Alps through the centuries.
Gressoney
Comprised of two picturesque villages that lie six kilometres apart – Gressoney-Saint-Jean and Gressoney-La-Trinité – Gressoney is at the epicentre of the Monte Rosa ski area, which transforms into a hiker’s paradise when the slopes aren’t blanketed in snow. Together, they make a thoroughly worthwhile day trip destination for a taste of rural life in this quiet, peaceful corner of the Italian Alps.
Explore the architectural masterpieces of Turin and enjoy a relaxing stay in the Piedmont countryside before heading north to the Aosta Valley, where you’ll discover stunning mountain vistas, historic Alpine villages and hearty regional cuisine.

Indigenous communities have called Atlantic Canada home for thousands of years, carving out a unique way of life founded on a deep connection with nature and a remarkable spirit of resilience – communities such as the Mi’kmaq, Innu, Inuit, Beothuk, Maliseet and Abenaki. Here, we’ve rounded up the most enriching Indigenous experiences across the four provinces of Atlantic Canada – New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island – while across the page Wexas expert Ben Harding selects a series of four fantastic road trips designed to showcase the best of the region, from its cultural heritage to its spectacular natural world.
Home to 15 distinct First Nation communities, New Brunswick offers a fascinating insight into Atlantic Canada’s rich Indigenous heritage. A good place to start is with the traditional names for the province’s towns, rivers and landmarks; for instance, Fredericton, the capital, is known as See-dahn-sis in the Maliseet language. You could also attend a powwow (a traditional performance of singing and dancing), a smudging ceremony (in which sacred herbs are burned to purify the body, mind, heart and spirit) or a native craft workshop. All will leave you with a much greater understanding of New Brunswick’s history through the eyes of its First Nations people.
The largest of Atlantic Canada’s four provinces, Newfoundland and Labrador’s history of human habitation stretches back around 9,000 years. Among the province’s sprawling forests, majestic fjords, windswept coastlines and iceberg-dotted waters, Indigenous communities have forged a profound understanding of the land that has evolved from ancient hunter-gatherer practices originally forged in the Arctic to a more modern way of living that retains a strong appreciation for nature and culture. Visitors can learn about the four main Indigenous groups – the Inuit, Southern Inuit (formerly the Labrador Inuit-Metis), Innu, and the Mi’Kmaq – through the likes of immersive forest walks, guided boat tours, cultural workshops and traditional food experiences.
For more than 13,000 years, the Mi’kmaq people have called Nova Scotia home, enriching the province’s communities with their legends, art, music and spirituality. There’s a myriad of ways to delve into this unique culture, such as storytelling and traditional drumming workshops at Membertou Heritage Park, a guided hike along the cultural trail on Goat Island, or a canoeing tour exploring the ancient petroglyphs dotted along the picturesque shores of Kejimkujik National Park. The Millbrook Cultural & Heritage Centre near Truro, meanwhile, provides a detailed insight into the language, culture and enduring spirit of the Mi’kmaq through a series of richly informative exhibits, alongside a souvenir shop that supports local Indigenous businesses.
It may be Canada’s smallest province in terms of land area, but what Prince Edward Island lacks in size it more than makes up for in natural splendour and cultural treasures – as recognised by its prestigious accolade of ‘Provincial or Territorial Association of the Year’ at the 2025 ITAC Indigenous Tourism Awards. At the Lennox Island Mi’kmaq Cultural Centre, visitors can learn about traditional crafts, drumming, and the deep spiritual connection to the land and sea, while Atlantic Canada’s only Indigenous theatre company, Mi’kmaq Heritage Actors, showcases the history of the Mi’kmaq people through stories, songs, teachings and traditional dancing.

Stretching 250 kilometres from the Matapedia Valley out into the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the Gaspé Peninsula harbours some of Québec’s most alluring landscapes, gorgeous beaches and charming coastal villages. It’s a perfect extension of a trip to Montréal or Québec City, revealing a quieter, wilder side to Canada’s largest province.
The Gaspé Peninsula is home to four national parks steeped in soul-stirring beauty. Gaspésie is a hiker’s paradise, with 25 peaks exceeding 1,000 metres, including the second-highest summit in Québec (Mont Jacques-Cartier, 1,268 metres), while Forillon is renowned for its sea cliffs, coastal forests and remote beaches. UNESCO-listed Miguasha is recognised as one of the richest fossil sites in the world, providing a window into the history of life on Earth. Just off the peninsula’s eastern tip, Bonaventure Island and Percé Rock host the largest migratory bird refuge in North America, including a colony of over 100,000 northern gannets.
Historic lighthouses
With over 700 kilometres of coastline, the Gaspé Peninsula is punctuated by several historic lighthouses that offer magnificent views, fabulous photo opportunities and a fascinating insight into the region’s maritime heritage. Among the most impressive are La Martre, with its red-painted wooden façade, Pointeà-la-Renommée, the site of North America’s first maritime radio station, and Cap-des-Rosiers, the tallest lighthouse in Canada, towering over the Gulf of St. Lawrence from a height of 34 metres.
Wildlife in abundance
Both inland and off the coast, the Gaspé Peninsula is a prime destination for wildlife watching. The boreal forests and tundra-like landscapes of Gaspésie National
Park are roamed by caribou and moose, while the likes of black bears, coyotes, porcupines, beavers and lynx can be spotted in Forillon National Park, alongside an estimated 288 bird species. Whales and dolphins are also frequently seen from June to October in the Forillon-Percé area, including blue whales – the largest animals on the planet.
Charming coastal villages
As you navigate the endlessly scenic roads of the Gaspé Peninsula, you’ll pass through numerous peaceful, picturesque fishing villages characterised by colourful wooden houses, intriguing museums, quirky shops, and restaurants serving deliciously fresh seafood and local beer. Highlights include Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Gaspé, Percé and Carleton-sur-Mer, all of which double up as excellent strategic bases for exploring the region.

and returning wildlife promising a healthy future. Enjoy glorious views as your guide leads you through the newgrowth forest emerging from the ash, and pause for lunch as you learn about the benefits of wildfire in nature.

Sri Lanka’s unique blend of natural splendour, spectacular wildlife, cultural treasures and sumptuous cuisine makes it one of Asia’s most enticing year-round travel destinations. Below, Wexas’s Debbie Mayger delves into its myriad highlights.
Cultural wonders
The ancient cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa offer a fascinating insight into Sri Lanka’s past, harbouring remains of palaces, temples and Buddhist shrines – some dating back over 2,000 years. Both hold UNESCO World Heritage status and form part of the Cultural Triangle along with the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya. Elsewhere, the sacred city of Kandy is home to bustling street markets, grand colonial-era buildings and the Temple of the Tooth Relic.
Galle Fort
Originally built by the Portuguese in 1588, Galle Fort was radically transformed by the Dutch and the British, serving as the country’s principal trading port for more than 200 years. Its eclectic fusion of European and Asian cultural influences over the centuries makes it a truly captivating place to explore, brimming with history and filled with wonderfully colourful architecture, fabulous restaurants and cool cafes.
Hill Country
The lush, misty hills of Sri Lanka’s central highlands are renowned for producing some of the finest tea in the world – particularly of the Ceylon variety, which thrives amid the relatively cool temperatures, reliable rainfall and rich, fertile soils. The towns of Hatton, Ella and Nuwara Eliya all make great bases for exploring the region, with easy access to numerous tea plantations, hiking trails and some excellent accommodation options.
With over 26 national parks, Sri Lanka is home to an abundance of wildlife, from Asian elephants to elusive leopards and sloth bears. First among its spectacular natural reserves is Yala National Park, a vast wilderness
of grassy plains, monsoon forests, mangroves and coastal lagoons, which spill into the Indian Ocean. Home to an astonishing variety of flora and fauna, including over 200 bird species, it’s especially renowned as one of the best places in the world to observe leopards in the wild. Wherever your journey takes you, a wildlife safari is an essential part of any Sri Lankan adventure.
Sri Lanka’s southern and eastern coastlines are blessed with an abundance of gorgeous, palm-fringed beaches and luxury resorts – a perfect way to relax and recharge between sightseeing and wildlife viewing. While the south coast is generally livelier and more developed, with the lowest rainfall between December and March, the east coast is wilder and more stripped-back, with May to September providing optimal weather conditions.

Located in the southeastern corner of the Arabian Peninsula, Oman captivates curious travellers with its staggering wealth of natural wonders and rich cultural heritage. Its cities, meanwhile, deliberately shun the kind of glitzy, towering skyscrapers found elsewhere in the region; instead, whitewashed, low-rise architecture, gleaming mosques and labyrinthine souks take centre stage. Without further ado, here’s why Oman should be firmly on your travel wishlist.
cultural heritage
The Sultanate of Oman places great importance on preserving its rich cultural heritage, which has been largely shaped by a blend of Arabic, Islamic and Bedouin traditions. Long-standing trading links have also seen Portuguese, Zanzibari and South Asian influences filter through over the centuries, resulting in a melting pot of diverse cultures – perhaps most vividly seen in the vibrant capital, Muscat.
Warm and welcoming hospitality
Omani people are renowned for their respectful nature, humility and generosity towards visitors, making it one of the safest and most welcoming destinations in the Middle East. Throughout the country, friendly locals will welcome you with open arms and take great pride in providing warm, genuine hospitality. In fact, such authentic cultural interactions will almost certainly be among the highlights of your time in Oman.
landscapes
From the immense, sweeping sand dunes of the Rub Al-Khali Desert and Al Sharqiyah Sands to the soaring peaks of the Hajar Mountains and the fjord-like inlets of the Musandam Peninsula, Oman’s terrain is as varied as it is spectacular. In the far south, by stark contrast, monsoon rains dramatically transform the landscape into an oasis of tropical vegetation, gushing waterfalls and emerald-hued wadis between June and September.
weather
Whenever you visit Oman, there will always be somewhere blessed with gloriously warm and sunny weather. October to March is the most popular time to visit, with much of the country enjoying mild, sunny conditions, ideal for outdoor adventures. While summers in Muscat are hot and humid, the mountains around Jabal Akhdar enjoy temperatures in the high 20s and the south is cooled by light monsoon rains.
Cutting-edge luxury hotels
Oman’s luxury hotel scene has flourished in recent years, offering everything from opulent beachside resorts to boutique desert camps and serene mountain retreats. Recent additions include the ultra-stylish Mandarin Oriental and The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort, both of which occupy coveted oceanfront locations in the capital, while Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar Resort & Spa is a delightful hideaway in the Hajar Mountains.
Sumptuous cuisine
Omani cuisine is an eclectic fusion of Arabian, Persian, Indian, North African and Eastern Mediterranean influences, with a strong emphasis on bold spices, herbs and marinades. Fragrant, slow-cooked meat and ricebased dishes are prominent, as well as deliciously fresh fish and seafood, often grilled, including tuna, hamour (part of the grouper fish family) and Omani rock lobster.
Oman Botanic Garden
Just outside of Muscat, the Oman Botanic Garden is a state-of-the-art development showcasing the unique plants, landscapes and cultures of Oman through a series of carefully created, naturalistic habitats, ranging from dry deserts to monsoon cloud forests. The 420-hectare project, which is nearing completion, will be among the largest botanical gardens in the world.

While many of the holidays we design are centred around exploration and adventure, there’s still plenty of demand for a relaxing break in the sun. After all, there are few better ways to recharge the batteries than with a stay on one of the world’s many idyllic islands and beaches, pairing those old favourites of sun, sea and sand with exceptional dining, indulgent spa treatments and lazy days by the pool.
Of course, there’s excitement to be found too, as we discover opposite amid the glorious islands of the Seychelles where world-class beaches share the
spotlight with wildlife encounters and hikes to hidden waterfalls. You could even save an incredible £1,205 per person when you book our featured holiday by 30 September 2025.
Of course, that’s not the only special offer available. Over the page, you’ll find exceptional savings on a range of island and beach holidays taking in the best of Southern Europe, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean. Just remember, these exclusive deals are sure to sell out fast. And, if another destination appeals, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
A tropical archipelago of 115 islands scattered off the east coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles are home to many of the world’s most idyllic beaches. Picture endless swathes of pristine, powder-soft white sand fringed by gently swaying palm trees, giant granite boulders and glorious turquoise waters. But there’s so much more to see and do in the Seychelles than swimming, snorkelling and basking in the sunshine. Between hiking through jungle-carpeted hills, spotting giant tortoises in the wild, exploring historic coconut and vanilla plantations and embracing vibrant Creole culture, the opportunities for adventure – alongside relaxation – are bountiful.
The Coralline Seychelles, also known as the Outer Seychelles, comprise 74 low-lying sand cays and coral atolls dotted across five distinct island groups: Amirantes, Southern Coral, Alphonse, Farquhar, and Aldabra. Despite occupying around 46 percent of the archipelago’s total landmass, only one percent of the total human population lives in the Outer Seychelles. As such, these sparsely inhabited islands are the perfect place to truly disconnect from everyday life and experience the raw, untamed beauty of the Seychelles. They’re a haven for wildlife, too, including the Aldabra giant tortoise and a rich variety of tropical birds and fish.
The Granitic Seychelles, or Inner Islands, are granite fragments of the ancient supercontinent Gondwana, largely clustered around the three main islands of Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, which are home to the vast majority of the archipelago’s human population. This is the focal point of the Seychelles’ tourism industry, with

Here, you may also embark on a hike through the UNESCOlisted Vallée de Mai, enjoy a round of golf, or hop across to La Digue to discover a colonial-era coconut and vanilla plantation and marvel at giant tortoises.
