Rare Terns Sighted Nesting at Lucinda and Cassady Beach THE Little Tern, smallest and rarest of Hinchinbrook’s Terns, has returned to raise its young where they will be frequenting our beaches until the new year. With a declining population of only around 1,200 adult Little Terns worldwide, the nesting colonies of these birds that regularly establish on the Lucinda Spit between October and Christmas are globally significant. Most recently, Little Terns have been spotted at Cassady Beach.
