In Luke 9 it begins to talk about Jesus sending out the 12 disciples and the passing over of authority.

Romans 12:1 NIV Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God— this is your true and proper worship. Many are witnessing the transforming power of God’s Spirit through practicing the Ministry of Blessing. Miraculous stories of hope, healing and restoration are being released through an army of ordinary people!

defeated.Henolonger has authority over us, but we have control over him through theSo,blood!!Iask you, whenever you feel defeated, whenever you feel pain, depressed, angry, alone...whatever your situation may be... I want you to remember who you are, that you are a child of God and have authority and power from on high, and you have a mighty God who gives you everything you will ever need. Not just for yourselves, but our family, our friends, for every single person. I encourage you to pick up your sword and fight, declare the word and use the sword of the spirit that was freely given. Use your authority to overcome. Jesus tells us in the book of john that we will do even greater things. So, if we can take anything from this message, remember the blood of Jesus has provided everything we need.

Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus, I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?"

Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all.He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.

Because of the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross, we can walk in the authority that the blood gives and the power of his name. the bloodshed has made us coheirs with him. His blood has provided for everything we will ever need, one of them being deliverance.

Authority BECAUSE of the blood, we are cleansed of sins. Not only are we cleansed from sin, but we were also given so much more. One of those things I want to talk about today is authority. Authority is a new teaching taught in the New Testament and was never mentioned in the Old Testament. Mark 1:27, the people were all so amazed that they asked each other, "what is this, a new teaching- and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits, and they obey him."

The definition of authority is the power or right to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience. So obviously, Jesus was doing something different.... he wasn't going around preaching in the same way as the other teachers of the law. Still, people were noticing through the words he spoke and his actions that he was different.

Come and learn how to release Heaven's purposes to earth, through a lifestyle of prayer and blessing that transforms lives and communities.

Only once Jesus came does scripture start to mention him as one with authority. Matthew 27:29 says: Because he taught as one who had authority and not as their teachers of the law.

SATURDAY Sept, www.trybooking.com/CBSOHorcontact

These verses teach us that the demons knew that the sons of Sceva had no authority, so, in other words, demons understand who we are in Christ, whether genuine believers or hypocrites.Authority is held by a true believer who honours God in every facet of life.

Luke When9:1Jesus called the twelve together, he gave them the power and authority to drive out all demons and cure diseases. So, authority isn't just something anyone can have; Scripture gives us an example of this in Acts. Acts 19: 13-16... some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, "in the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out."

Do you know that this means we have victory over our enemy... the blood of Jesus is a reminder to the devil that he is

DUE to seasonal migration, the Hinchinbrook Shire is likely to see an influx of Little Red Flying Foxes that are known to gather in large numbers. Current indications are that these animals are making their way to northern Australia to feed and establish mating territories. As part of the ongoing strategy to keep flying foxes from roosting in undesirable locations throughout the urban footprint, Council has been undertaking daily inspections and employing appropriate dispersal techniques to dissuade local Black Flying Fox populations from attempting to settle in public locations throughout the township of Ingham. Dispersal activities, including audible deterrents, will continue each morning between 5.00am and 8.00 am as Council prepares for the potential influx of Little Red Flying Foxes that are currently known to be in neighbouring Shires in large numbers. It is recommended that all residents take measures to secure their pets during the noted operation times. Council will continue to monitor all known camps as part of the Flying Fox Management Program and will provide advice and assistance to the community as resources and State guidelines allow.

WHEN we think about humility, we often think about a person who places themselves in positions where they are unseen and hides what they are doing.Inyour Christian walk, it is essential to have unseen acts of kindness that bring an eternal reward; however, this is not the definition of humility.

Acting out God’s purpose for your life may require being out the front and being in a very ‘seen’ position. It may require doing things that take a lot of confidence because you may need to speak or act in a way that you may find embarrassing. How can you say no when God asks you to step out? I am so proud of people who are not ashamed of the gospel. No matter where they are, they are willing to step up and pray for a person or intercede for their community. For a community to be a place that is an example of God’s goodness and not a place where a person wants to elevate themselves at the expense of others. A Christian community is where people care about others greater than themselves. The fruit of the Spirit that develops when you are in a relationship with Christ “is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against these things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 AMP.

“Habitat loss remains the biggest threat to the Koala, and much of it is extremely fragmented,” says Australian Koala Foundation Chair Deborah Tabart OAM.“The AKF has spent more than 24 years studying Koala habitats and we believe the Koala Kiss Project which will join separate areas of habitat (kiss points), to create one contiguous corridor from Cairns to Melbourne will help mitigate habitat loss.

“Although the Koala Lullaby was created to encourage children to go to sleep, we adults must stay wide awake to ensure koalas and their habitats are protected forever,’’ Donna says.

SEPTEMBER is Save the Koala Month and this year the Australian Koala Foundation is launching with a sweet Koala Lullaby by Australian composer and educator, Donna Dyson.

We're expanding Townsville Hospital, and creating a new Mental Health Unit for Cairns Hospitalmeaning better healthcare for North Queensland.

The survey found that whilst a range of services were provided within the Cassowary Coast, not all services were available in Mission Beach. To access these services, people had to travel to Tully or Innisfail, have phone conversations or meet in coffee shops. No local transport made this more difficult. The main barrier to providing services locally was the lack of suitable, safe accommodation where service providers could have confidential meetings with clients.

Since then, a very small group of committed people has worked steadily to develop a sound foundation to eventually achieve this long-term objective.

So, Mission Beach Community Support was formed with the objective of establishing a community hub or support centre in Mission Beach, that would meet service providers needs and provide a flexible community space.

Meg is our last but not least supervisor. She is also great with handbuildings and slabs and is very creative. Meg is currently on a temporary leave of absence, and we look forward to her returning as supervisor soon.

Currently, in the shed, we have four pottery wheels, a slab working table with a slab roller, making life much easier to make slabs, a separate external glazing work area, and two fridges to store your work between sessions.

Louie (assisted by Annie and Trudy) recently ran two mug workshops for beginners. Both were booked out quickly and were very successful and fun. More types of workshops are being planned for the future... so be sure to like and follow Mission Arts Pottery to keep updated on upcoming workshops and opening times and days.

Trudy, another Volunteer, has only been a Potter for a few years and has recently started supervising. She attends to the social media postings, tweaks our little pottery shed with great ideas and is a very meticulous and enthusiastic potter who always loves learning more.

Yuki, a relative newcomer to the shed, is a very experienced and knowledgeable potter with a background in ceramics in her childhood country of Japan (we are so lucky to have her sharing her experience with us).

Time after time, the kiln is opened to find all the superb pottery, all different shapes and colours…we are always excited to post and share the photos withSoeveryone.ifyou are now curious or interested…why not come along to our supervised days and try it yourself?

Pottery can be calming and soothing, a great mindfulness activity, and creative, fun and exciting. You will meet all types and ages of people and make some fantastic new friends. Current daily attendance costs as of 01/07/22 – $7.50 per person (Mission Arts Member) and $10.00 (NonMember). This includes supervision, use of all the tools and equipment, and glaze for your pottery pieces. Clay can be purchased in 10kg blocks (or split in half) with an average price of $24.00 per block. There is also a bique and glaze firing fee for a nominal charge (depending on the piece size). MAP welcomes anyone from 10 to 100 years old…regardless of your starting skill level! So if you are interested in creating your own unique pieces from clay, come along! MAP is located at the back of the Mission Arts building, Marc’s Park, Mission Beach, or call Mission Arts on (insert phone number) for more information.Hopetosee you soon for some play with clay!

Louie is our only male supervisor, an electrician by trade and an all-around handyman. He can fix any problems in the shed and takes care of the repairs to our electric Kilns. He is excellent with hand-building and slab building and has many tips to share, including how to use the slab roller and coil extruder.

All pieces of pottery created are unique and special to those who made them. The anticipation by the Supervisors when opening the kiln after a glaze firing is met with pride to see all the great, creative pieces made with care and love by the MAP attendees.

All the tools you need to create, two electric kilns for bisque and glaze firing, shelving for drying your pots, glazes and underglazes. Everything you need to start your new, fun, creative hobby in this fantastic world of clay is provided for your use whilst at the shed. MAP opening hours are - Wednesdays and Sundays, 10 am – 2 pm and starting Friday, August 5th, we are trialling Friday nights, 5 pm-9 pm. Each session is supervised by experienced potters who can help you create your way to your first of many pottery pieces!

Hilary has been a Volunteer for over nine years at MAP, a very experienced potter, from hand-building and sculpture, to coils and the wheel.

Annie has been a potter in Western Australia and, after moving to Mission Beach, has recently come back to the pottery wheel and loves teaching others how to master the wheel.

“This is good news for hundreds of workers on the Darling Downs and good news for Queensland’s economy at a time when the state’s international reputation for investment attractiveness has dropped alarmingly.

“The newly updated species names are now searchable in the ALA, both by their Indigenous language name and western names (Latin and common). By having species names discoverable in Indigenous languages, we benefit from and encourage more Indigenous content to be contributed to the project,” sheThesaid.project celebrates the Kriol, Marra, Ritharrηu/Wӓgliak, Ngandi, Wubuy, Ngalakgan, Alawa and Rembarrnga languages which are now included in the ALA. Yugul Mangi Assistant Ranger Coordinator Julie Roy, who speaks Ngalakan and Ngandi languages, said the work not only offered shared scientific benefits but also helped support keeping local languages alive.

ALA Indigenous Ecological Knowledge (IEK) Program Lead Nat Raisbeck-Brown said the new Indigenous names and transcriptions would increase data accessibility and strengthen researchers’ and Australians’ connection to Traditional Owner knowledge and language.

MINISTER FOR RESOURCES, SENATOR SUSAN MCDONALD: “I congratulate the owners of New Acland mine for staying the course and resisting one of the most concerted efforts by environment groups seen in Queensland to kill this project at every step.“Such is the timing, blandness and brevity of the Minister’s statement announcing the approval, it would appear the only thing lacking was an apology to the Greens.

"New Acland Stage 3 is already the most scrutinised resources project in Queensland history and I urge the State Government to finally grant the water licence and bring certainty to all the people who have been left in limbo by the continuous court cases and bureaucratic delays.”

“We know that people on low and no incomes, especially the most vulnerable, are struggling with a cost of living crisis, compounded by a decade of stagnant wages. Australians have been robbed of between $270-680 a fortnight in lost income over the last 10 years, according to our analysis. We need to get wages moving again.

THIS time of year, one of the extra ways we test varieties to fine-turn the recommendations to a local level is by weighting the crop Biomass. This is a fancy way of saying we are sampling the crop to work out the potential yield in terms of tonnes per hectare. In doing this, we always compare the newer varieties to the standard Q208, which is 35% of the Tully crop and the system's most reliable variety we currently have.Biomass sampling usually occurs when the crop is ten months old, and to do this, we simply weigh the cane in samples of 6 or 10 stalks to work out the average kg per stalk. We then count the stalls in a representative 10m row of cane to determine the approximate number of stalks in aWehectare.thenmultiply the average kg per stalk by the approximate number of stalks per hectare to come up with an estimated or potential tonne per hectare (t/ha) figure for that variety.

To do this weighing of stalks, we use a small 'cradle,' which is set up on the Ute with scales attached.

Nothing beats the real thing, though, which is commercially harvested tonnes through the mill, but this can only happen in a few years.

FNQ GROWERS

LANDHOLDERS in Far North Queensland are encouraged to carry our hazard reduction burns before warmer weather arrives.

ON Tuesday, August 30, 2022, Council adopted the biennial Hinchinbrook Shire Council Prevention and Control Program for invasive biosecurity matter within the Hinchinbrook Shire Local Government area for the period 2022-2024. The purpose of the Control Program is to prevent the entry, establishment and spread of invasive biosecurity matter and further manage and reduce any matter that poses a significant biosecurity risk throughout the Shire.Adoption of this Program allows Council officers to enter certain lands within the Shire and provides powers for authorised officers to monitor, advise and direct landholders’ response to biosecurity risks. This assists Council to ensure that people who deal with invasive biosecurity matter or a carrier are meeting their obligations as identified in the Hinchinbrook Local Government Area Biosecurity Plan.

FNQ Growers president Joe Moro said unseasonal rain during winter has resulted in an increased fuel load on many properties. “Wildfire has ripped through some parts of Mareeba Shire in recent years, damaging buildings, crops and the environment,” Mr Moro said. “While we can’t pre-empt weather conditions as landholders we can take proactive action to minimise theMrrisk.”Moro said most areas in the shire had volunteer rural fire brigades available to help with permits, equipment and volunteers to assist with hazard burns.

Like all trial work, we need to do it several times, and the sampling process needs to be consistent so that the potential yields are realistic.

Biomass sampling has just been completed over the past two weeks in Tully and will occur two more times when the crop is m 11 and 12 months of age.

Hinchinbrook Council Adopts Prevention and Control Program 2022-2024

By determining the estimated biomass (t/ha) along with the CCS curve trend analysis for a new variety, we can give the growers a good idea of how a variety will perform commercially under local conditions in 2-3 years.None of this work is complicated, but it is timeconsuming; however, the benefits outweigh the investment in time because we can fairly quickly get an idea if a new varieties will work and how much we should promote it.

Other factors like disease resistance come into the conversation about whether we will commercialize a new variety. Still, t/ha and CCS are significant considerations.SRAhasalready done the hard work to determine if a variety will suit the wet tropics, so all we are doing is fine-tuning these recommendations at a local level. The program continues to grow, with 40% of Queensland cane land now accredited and recognised as being sustainably farmed. This is central to ensuring the industry maintains community support. With the community on our side, we get ever closer to getting the government to sit up and take notice and back policies that recognise and support growers. The ultimate goal is to have government work with us to grow the potential of our industry. But this will only come when policy moves from handbrake to accelerator.

“Despite a variety of attraction and retention strategies, including apprenticeship programs, our sector like many sectors, is having difficulty finding and keeping the right people for these positions. The issue is exacerbated by our aging workforce, the coal mining boom in regional Queensland and a lack of affordable rental housing in our communities” said ASMC CEO, Rachele Sheard. Ms Sheard added, “We welcome this initiative from the Federal Government as labour shortages are a critical issue facing our industry and many others in regional Queensland. To address the ‘here and now’ shortfalls and operating pressures, we need highly flexible migration settings coupled with regional housing availability and affordability. Currently the process of identifying overseas workers, undertaking the requisite skills recognition checks, applying and being granted short term visa’s is taking up to 10 months. There is then limited housing options for these workers and their families”.

• Better demand forecasting for labour and skills by regional employers to allow training providers to be more ‘demand responsive’ to market needs.

While it is frustrating for us to often have to prove what most of us have been doing all along, Smartcane BMP ensures that growers are being recognised and appreciated for their efforts.

The recently released Wet Tropics Waterway Health Report Card rates the water quality; habitat and hydrology; and fish stocks across the nine river catchments in the Wet Tropics. These catchments cover a huge swath of Queensland's cane country, from Ingham to the Daintree. It's a region where growers have spent decades implementing farming practices to balance profitability and sustainability and have now positioned us to be up there as one of the most sustainable producers of sugar in the world. This ongoing effort is reflected in the 2022 Report Card, with seven of the nine catchments receiving a B grade and one, the Daintree, getting top marks with an A. Fish stocks across eight catchments were found to be good or very good, while habitat also got a B in two-thirds of catchments.Theoverallpicture is one of a healthy system, from creeks and rivers to the Great Barrier Reef lagoon. Unfortunately, if I hadn't been Chairman of CANEGROWERS, I might never have heard this great news. While I've seen plenty of negative media on reef health, it is hard to find any media reports highlighting these positive results - proving the old adage that bad news sells.

Saturday August 20, 2022, Mixed Single Stableford:

Operating from Bundaberg to Cairns, the sector presently has hundreds of vacancies across multiple vocations including trades (fitters and electricians mainly), loco drivers, general mill workers, analysts, engineers, lab technicians, accountants and more.

Ensuring the public recognises these efforts is undoubtedly a challenge. Still, the work of the industry through our best management practice program, Smartcane BMP, has been instrumental in changing this public perception.

• Promotion of workforce mobility and participation through a rental affordability scheme for regional Australia

• Ensuring that our schools continue to promote schoolto-trades job opportunities.

AHEAD of tomorrow’s Jobs and Skills Summit, the Australian sugar milling sector has outlined its priorities for addressing the sector’s skills and labour shortages.

CANEGROWERS THERE are many great things about being a farmer, but among the best is living and working on the land day in, day out and feeling connected to country. Every farmer I know feels enormous gratitude and responsibility for the natural environment that supports their business.Unfortunately, when it comes to the environment, we all too often hear nothing but negative news, with the far more realistic and positive stories often not getting the attention they deserve. So, it was a pleasant change recently to read some encouraging news about the quality of the water flowing into the reef and the resulting positive impacts on reef health and marine life.

Sugar milling sector seeks progress at Jobs and Skills Summit

The stories that surround the reef are polarising and often divisive. The reality is farmers have been doing their bit to protect the health of their local catchments.Thereef's long-term health may well be at risk from the effects of increasing sea surface temperatures. Still, the efforts of farmers and land managers to look after water quality shield the reef.

Tully Tigers’ and Innisfail junior rugby league teams in preliminary finals

AS the season ended for my beloved Senior Tully Tigers for 2022, it was time to look back at the players who could take out the prestigious Player of the Year award at the presentation night. Although we offloaded the dreaded wooden spoon, I felt we could have made a serious run in the playoffs with the quality cattle we have in our stocks. With the return of Colin Wilkie and some added grunt, it's a season full of 'what if' instead of 'what the'. I have chosen five players who should feature heavily in the tally count when voting went behind closed doors midway through the year. Let's have a look at them.

Lonnie Papani- The first time in a long time, the Tigers found a number nine that was as good as yours truly; such was his talent. Although being much faster, stronger, and overall better looking than me, his play from the dummy half saw him win many games from the middle with his crafty runs. Equally strong in defence, Lonnie played over 70 minutes each game, making him the fittest player at the club. If the future is to become more successful for the Tigers, he must be the first one signed. Diega Teakura- As the season wore on and the club ran out of troops to finish 2022, Diega kept coming like the battery bunny that never sleeps. His performance in a forward jersey during some of our big games was outstanding, where he easily ran for 200 metres in some cases against the more fancied teams like Leps and Brothers. As good as he is on the field playing the game, his best trait is that he is even a better bloke off it. Great mates of almost all the boys. Braithan Ketchell- In a break-out season that started late in the season, the 17-year-old BK set the comp on fire when he announced his arrival in the top grade. Carrying the royal footy bloodline of the Ketchell family, which includes former NRL player uncle Aron, this talent will be heading towards the big show in no time. His coolness and ability under pressure for such a young age shows maturity beyond his years. A player with huge potential, this guy will go the distance.

for a spot in the grand final on September

LAST Saturday, Tully and Innisfail Under 13 junior rugby league teams played in the FNQRL semi-finals at Jones Park, Cairns.Innisfail’s Under 13 team defeated Cairns Brothers 32 - 20, whilst the Tully Tigers’ Under 13 team had a four-point loss to Edmonton in golden point. Tully Tigers’ Under 16 team registered a 26 - 20 win against Redlynch and now faces Mareeba in the preliminary finals tomorrow.Aftera narrow loss to Edmonton in golden point, the Tigers’ Under 14 team has bowed out but finished a successful season, making it to the final series.

Shane Muriata

Phil Nona- When you start looking at consistency for players rising when you need them, Phil's name always gets a mention. His move to Fullback was one of the critical reasons for the Tigers' revival this year, and he didn't disappoint. He played an extra playmaking role from behind the line, and his kicking game was at least top three in the comp. When he didn't play, Tully struggled.Fabien Tauli- Now moving into his 22nd year of A grade Rugby League, this miracle of an athlete has defied age to still play at the top. Having more comebacks than Hulk Hogan, the original day breaker can still mix it with the younger players when it comes to playing the game hard. Still averaging over 100 metres a game, this hard-working forward runs like a man possessed. If you need a reliable forward and a man to have a beer with, Fabes is your man.

Tully Tigers’ Under 13 team will face Innisfail tomorrow in Cairns 10.

There are also still reasonable numbers of Mud Crabs around. We should hopefully see better numbers caught this weekend with the recent rain. I fished the three days leading up to last weekend and found the fishing reasonably challenging. I fished the Murray and Hull rivers and managed 16 Barra and 7 Jacks over the three days. I found the fish were not biting during the morning, so I concentrated on the low tide change in the afternoon. Water temperatures were a couple of degrees warmer, and that, combined with the tide change, meant we had a 2-hour bite window. We also managed a couple of nice Mud Crabs. Most of the Barra were small (only one was legal); we saw a few better fish but getting them to bite was extremely difficult. Some nice Jacks were caught; hopefully, this is a good sign for the season ahead. The fishing will hot up through September. Talking to a few regulars that chase Grunter, there have been plenty of smaller school-size fish in the coastal creeks; however, larger fish have been few and far between. Again things should improve through September.Looking forward to this weekend, the various weather reports predict that the winds will drop through Saturday and rise again through Sunday. This is a brief window, and things will likely change. You will have to get an up-to-date forecast closer to the weekend. It is possible you may be able to travel to the islands or at least move around in the Hinchinbrook area.

Looking at the tides, if you were chasing Barra or Jacks, you would have to fish either side of the low morning tide. I prefer Sunday's tide and would plan to fish the incoming tide in the middle of the day when the water temperature is warmer. This would also be the ideal time to fish for Bream or Flathead around the edge of the sand bars or, in the case of Bream, the better snags around the mouth of the rivers.

THE wet and windy conditions kept virtually everybody at home over the weekend. There was some opportunity in the sheltered waters of the Hinchinbrook Channel. Fishers creek landing was the better spot to launch as it gave direct access to miles of sheltered water. The problem was it had to be a quick trip around either side of the morning high tide, and the only alternative was to stay all day and return during the evening, not a very tempting prospect in the less-than-perfect conditions. Reports of fish captures were scarce, and there were plenty of Bream; other than that, just the occasional Barra, Mangrove Jack and Grunter.

The Grunter usually prefer the more extensive run in the tide, so I would target them during the last run-up to the evening high tide if conditions allow; this same evening tide will also suit fishing for Fingermark around the islands or in the Hinchinbrook Channel.

Months of training paid off, and Australia made a statement with four athletes coming away with a 132-0 record, including one gold and one bronze medal.
