The Brockport Teachers Association would like to

Local author dedicates latest children’s book to firefighter Written and illustrated by Adam DeRose, of Rochester, The Day the Moose was a Firefighter, is the latest book in the Moose-Book children’s series about a traveling moose.

In his newest adventure, the Moose goes for a stroll and sees a red fire engine roar past him. He quickly notices the fire station and wanders in. Excited, he wants to learn what it is like to be a firefighter.

The book is dedicated to DeRose’s high school friend, Michael Cornett, who chased his dream of becoming a firefighter. Cornett is currently a firefighter with the City of Tonawanda.

The Day the Moose was a Firefighter is published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing. Inquire about the book at Lift Bridge Book Shop in Brockport.

Fancher-hulberton-Murray Fire coMpany The F-H-M Fire Company is located at 3353 Hulberton Road just north of the historic Erie Canal. Incorporated in 1957, the 100% volunteer fire company protects the communities of Fancher, Hulberton, Brockville and Murray. The fire company averages 200 to 250 calls annually for Fire, EMS and other emergency services as well as non-emergency services. We have 46 active and social members total.

The Hamlin Fire Department is made up of local volunteers, that is part of a three department district serving and protecting the Town of Hamlin. During the course of the year we hold several fundraisers that benefit the Hamlin Fire Department, including an All You Can Eat Breakfast Buffet - $9.00 that is held every other Sunday starting January 6, 2019. Holley Police DePartment

Officer George Barton who is a Full Time Officer with Holley Police Department.

The Holley Police Department continues to expand its abilities thanks to the partnership between the Holley Police Department and the Albion Police Department. Over the past several years the Holley Police Department has grown in many areas and we have increased the services we provide to our citizens though training and other operational expansions.

The Holley Police Department is committed to serving our community in any way that we can, not just in the enforcement of law. A good example of this is the Automatic External Defibrillator program that was recently started. The Albion Police Department secured grant funding for the purchase of Automatic External Defibrillators for every patrol vehicle and station in the Albion and Holley Police Departments. This grant also secured funding for the training of all Officers and Staff from both Departments in the use of the Automatic External Defibrillators.

The Holley Police Department is one of the just a few Agencies that first respond to all Fire and EMS calls for service.

Before the implementation of the Automatic External Defibrillators our officers had very limited life saving ability for a person in cardiac arrest. Now because of this lifesaving tool an Officer is on scene within minutes of a person in cardiac arrest and the patients chances of survival are now greatly increased.

Over the past year the Holley Police Department conducted

over 3500 operational tasks outside of call and crime response. Many of these tasks are simply service to citizens needs. Along with Law Enforcement duties, Holley Police Officers spend time each day in the Schools of the Holley School District. Over the past few years the relationship between the Police and Schools has grown into a partnership that provides great benefits to the students and to the community. Holley Officers becoming integrated into school functions has also increased the security level that we all now expect and strive for.

The Holley Police Department will continue to strive to keep our community safe and is always ready to lend a hand to the needs of our citizens and visitors.

Gun Raffle: Typically Early June during the Village of Holley’s annual “June Fest” Turkey Raffle: Held in November.

Other news: We are currently waiting for delivery of a new ladder truck due to arrive early spring. This new ladder is manufactured by “Rosenbauer”.

The new truck will help us better serve our community. Our current Ladder truck, Holley 40 is up for sale and listed with several truck brokers.

The Holley Joint Fire District this past fall had improvements done to our firehouse, these improvements included replacing four large windows and having our building vinyl sided.

These improvements help us reduce our energy cost and provide a more aesthetically pleasing building and will, when completed, allow handicap access to our raised half of our building.

New York State Park Police The New York State Park Police Genesee Zone North work out of the Hamlin Beach Station and cover all of Monroe and Orleans Counties. Park Police officers are highly trained specialists, dedicated to preserving the peace associated with a park environment. State Park Police officers are permanent, full-time Police Officer positions, and appointment to the position is made after a competitive process that includes a New York State Civil Service exam.

The New York State Park Police began as a patrol force in 1885 at Niagara Falls State Park, the oldest state park in the country. As the State Park system grew, so did the need for police services, and by 1973 State Park Police officers were on patrol in every park region across New York.

Today, New York State Park Police continue to provide police services consistent with State Parks’ mission: to provide safe and enjoyable recreational opportunities for New York State residents and visitors. The Park Police operate in a wide variety of locations - from crowded urban areas within New York City as well as popular ocean beaches to vast natural areas and areas of rugged terrain.

The Park Police plan and conduct police and public safety operations for some of the largest public assemblies in the nation. State Park Police officers patrol in marked police cars, four-wheel drive vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, bicycles, boats, and personal water crafts, as well as on foot.

Typically, the State Park Police handle very large crowds, assist park users, search for and rescue missing persons, make arrests, conduct criminal and non-criminal investigations, and provide emergency services wherever and whenever they are needed. Special services the State Park Police also offer include marine law enforcement and education duties on New York waterways, snowmobile enforcement and education, and high angle and swift water rescue teams.

Gates Volunteer Ambulance Services provide no-charge loans of personal equipment to help our town members get back to health, such as... wheel chairs, crutches, canes, and walkers.

Event Coverage

With appropriate notice, Gates Volunteer Ambulance is usually able to provide a crew and ambulance to stand by during any community or sport event. With so many people in one place we want to be sure there is proper medical assistance close by. For example, we regularly do football, soccer, parade, and church festival stand-bys.
