Executive Summary: The Merrill "Swede" Carlson Westside Golf Training Center (The Swede Center) will be 1,800 square feet of dedicated indoor golf for students and community to the enjoy the use of a simulator, putting and chipping green, hitting bay, lounge area and locker room. This space will give kids K-12 within Westside Community Schools an opportunity to learn the game of golf. There will be open houses hosted by the current golf teams which will give kids of all ages the chance to engage with the team members and practice on current state-ofthe-art golf technology. When completed in summer of 2020, the Westside Golf Training Center will be the PREMIER indoor golf training center for a public high school in the United States.

Goals of the Westside Golf Training Center: • • • • • • • •

Create a one-of-a-kind indoor golf practice facility for a high school, introducing the best simulator technology with Foresight, along with a 1,000 sq ft putting and chipping area. To provide the pre-eminent indoor golf practice facility for a high school in Omaha, the state of Nebraska and the Midwest To promote the history of Westside golf (girls and boys) – It’s extremely important to educate current and future students (and golfers) about the rich history of Westside and their golf programs. Provide instructional opportunities for golf education for general students at the high school Introduce golf to elementary girls and boys throughout the district Provide service learning opportunities for current high school golfers to teach the game to younger kids and underserved markets in the school district Provide a tool to help attract top students to the high school (Keep students in district or attract option students into the district, which is a revenue source for the district) To continue Westside’s goal of providing “excellence” in every facet of the curriculum and extracurricular activities/facilities
