Come Join the Family at TAG USA Gymnastics

TAG USA GYMNASTICS IS NATIONALLY known as one of the top athletic centers in the region. TAG isn’t one of the best gyms just because of its nine National Champions, two National Team members, one (Czech) Olympian, many college scholarships, and the area’s largest program. TAG became the best by offering organized effective classes, inexpensive prices, hiring the best former gymnasts, and being a “family-friendly” family business.

The Zoldan family bought TAG in 2007 from previous owners who created TAG (Talent Agility Grace) back in the early 1970s. Michael Zoldan had the vision of transforming TAG from a typical small gymnastics playground into a real training center where even the youngest athletes could learn skills and work for success. Within a year, TAG grew to become the region’s largest program and moved into an enormous new facility to accommodate its growing clientele.

Since day one, the entire Zoldan family has spent time working and training in the gym. Three of Michael’s five children were aspiring gymnasts, spending many of their days training at TAG. Maia earned gymnastics scholarships to two Division I colleges, AJ became an All Star Elite in trampoline, and Hannah’s tumbling skills earned her and TAG its first National Champion title.

Family Affair

“It eventually became a family business,” Zoldan proudly states. “A.J. is the General Manager, Maia created the lesson plans and coached pre-team plus high-level athletes, Hannah handles communication, emails, marketing and social media, while Ben runs our birthday parties and is a coach in the aftercare program.”

Zoldan says it is rewarding to see his children stepping up while finishing college and taking on managerial roles. “A.J. has helped with the business since age ten. He has the passion, business savvy and marketing skills of the younger generation. His strengths are listening to our customers, maintaining quality coaching and business details, and assuring that each and every family’s individual needs are met.”

Growth is one thing TAG has experienced over the years. Zoldan says the gym only had about 350 participants when he first bought it, but now boasts more than 1,900 gymnasts. Enrollment is not the only thing that has expanded – so has the gym space.

WORLD-CLASS GYM

TAG is now conveniently located in the Westgate Square Shopping Center on State Road 84 at Weston Road. It is still the area’s largest gymnastics facility, with the most equipment in Florida. Zoldan says the 36,000 square foot studio offers all of the equipment necessary for a young athlete to train for recreation or to grow into a nationally ranked gymnast or college athlete. The gym features more beams, bars, floors, vaults, training equipment, trampolines, double minis, and tumble traks than any other gym in the region.

While the equipment inventory is certainly impressive, what really sets TAG apart is its training program, which begins with recreational gymnastics classes for ages two and up. More serious and talented gymnasts can progress into TAG’s competitive gymnastics program.

“Every child has a path at TAG,” says Zoldan. “A recreational path for introduction. A pre-team path to experience high skills and awards. A team path for State, Regional and National desires in gymnastics, tumbling and trampoline.”

The reason TAG is able to accomplish this is because of its high coaching standards; it hires Olympic coaches and former TAG gymnasts. All must possess passion and knowledge, including USA Gymnastics certification. Additionally, all coaches undergo a mandatory Level 2 FBI background check.

According to Zoldan, TAG’s recreational coaches must have experience in gymnastics, tumbling or trampoline, and undergo a rigorous training program. Gymnastics instructors are trained by the GM for safety and by upper-level coaches on lesson plans and form. TAG requires that its team coaches have at least ten years of coaching experience and be former high-level gymnasts, although Zoldan says most are actually former foreign Olympians.

To inspire gymnasts of all levels, TAG often invites former Olympians to visit the gym. Zoldan says he’s excited to announce that Simone Biles, win- ner of seven Olympic medals including four gold, is scheduled to visit TAG this winter. In the past, Aly Raisman, Alicia Sacramone, Nastia Luikin, Shawn Johnson and Jonathan Horton have stopped by to train a bit, take pictures and provide the young gymnasts with words of encouragement.

Family Friendly

While there is no doubt children love TAG, parents often sing its praises as well. Zoldan says the gym was purposefully built to be parent friendly with large viewing areas where parents can watch their children train. He points out that one of the reasons they relocated was to make the gym more accessible to families coming from neighboring cities and by providing ample parking.

Parents also appreciate TAG’s aftercare program, which offers school pick-up, homework help, as well as plenty of play time.

TAG’s birthday party packages can’t be beat. Each two-hour party features private use of the gym and a celebration in the enormous party room. In addition to entertaining the kids, two coaches will help set up, serve and clean-up, allowing parents to enjoy their child’s special day and spend quality time with their guests.

With the holidays coming up, Zoldan reminds parents to register for TAG’s popular day camp program. It’s offered on all no school days, including Thanksgiving break, in addition to Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Break. During these all-action camps children alternate between mini gymnastics classes in beam, bars, tumbling and trampoline and fun-filled games (i.e.: soccer, dodgeball and basketball) and activities such as obstacle courses.

“TAG has always been a special place for Weston families, mine included,” shares Zoldan. “My children are now excited to continue this tradition. Come join our family. We invite you and your kids to stop by anytime and see for yourself what makes TAG so unique.”
