The Walled Garden:

Incorporating beauty into learning

A new edition to the Westonbirt campus, the eight Walled Garden classrooms were implemented in January. Used for a variety of subjects and year groups, the classrooms feature beautiful architecture inspired by the glasshouses that used to take its place. And, adjacent to the Italian Gardens, its location is tucked away in a scenic and serene part of campus, ideal for the learning taking place. Not only is this an innovative design which encourages hard work, but its scenic edition on the Westonbirt grounds pays homage to the history of the house. Robert Holford, the original owner of Westonbirt house is known for his love of orchids. With a team on hand keeping the Italian Gardens pruned and peaceful, the Walled Gardens now add on to the already present apprecation of beauty incorporated into the school.
