The same choice of meats is available for the burritos, bowls and tacos and they command the same prices.

There are also extras like chips and guacamole ($2.50) or chips and salsa ($1.75).

On my first visit, I found the food fresh-tasting and delicious, but with the limited menu, stark décor and the air conditioning set so high that I was freezing the whole time, it’s not a place I’d return to immediately. I imagine I will get a craving for the salad in the next month or so, however.

You go into Chipotle, wait in line and then place your order, viewing the choices in front of you and watching while your order is assembled.

With two in our party, we ordered a burrito with cilantro-

lime rice, black beans, chicken, guacamole, fresh tomato salsa, medium hot tomatillo-green chili salsa and cheese in a flour tortilla ($6.75) and a salad with steak, fresh tomato salsa, roasted chili-corn salsa and hot tomatillo-red chili salsa and cheese. I also opted for a scoop of guacamole the server raved about.

This food, of course, is not authentic Mexican, but I enjoyed the combination of sweet and hot flavors of the very fresh-tasting salad and ate up every bite. I tasted my husband’s burrito, which was huge.

The problem with it was that after eating half, the ingredients saturated the tortilla and it fell apart, requiring a fork to scoop up the rest. I guess that’s why Chipotle also offers bowls, which might be a wiser choice.

For drinks, Chipotle has soft drinks, beer and margaritas, the latter made not with tequila but something less potent. It can be had on the rocks or made with crushed ice. I went with the crushed version which was refreshing as it’s made with lime juice and Triple Sec, but not as good as a margarita concocted with tequila.

Our tab for two came to $27.27.

Chipotle has a concrete floor, a tall industrial ceiling with exposed pipes and long lights that hang down from it, square and tall rectangular tables with silver metal tops, some set with stiff wooden chairs, others with yellow stools. Some of the tall tables are situated in front of the windows for outdoor viewing.

Walls are painted off-white on one side of the restaurant, brown on the other. Tin paneling covers the bottom portion of the walls all around. A sole black and white photograph of a Chipotle Mexican Grill and a wooden sculpture of an Aztec hang on the walls.

Chipotle is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. Parking is in the shopping center’s ample lot.

Also in the converted Rye Ridge Theater space, Buddha, an Asian restaurant, will be coming sometime in the near future, although no date has been set. A sign in the window says it will offer Asian fusion, sushi and hibachi cuisine.
