Learning How to Keep Up with the Constant Change With everything we’ve been through over the past two years, we’ve learned a lot about not just surviving, but pushing our businesses to thrive through innovation, persistence, and resilience. Every small business owner has had to make – and continues to make – constant adjustments even before the pandemic. Understandably, the stress from all the change, especially in the past two years, can wear down even the most energetic business owner. Learning how to adapt has become a way of life. Not that we’re taking a page from one of those inner-child woo-woo books, but did you know that by adjusting your attitude to embrace change (or at least try to accept it), you can be more productive? When you learn to roll with the punches and look forward to the challenges presented by evolving situations, you can also discover new opportunities to develop your business in ways you’d never imagined. You really will find more of what you pay the most attention to. It’s kind of like when you get a new car and suddenly realize how many others are on the road already- they were always there, you just hadn’t noticed them.

The Chamber Office is Here to Help, Too As part of your small business self-improvement session, also remember to check in with us in the Chamber Office. We’re here to help our members in any way we can to be successful. If you have a question or just want to bounce an idea off someone, call, email, or stop by the office to say hello!

Why Do Basements Leak?

1) As the ground becomes saturated, the water table begins to rise, putting pressure against the basement floor, then water seeks cracks in the cement for entry caused by hydrostatic water pressure. 2) Inadequate gutters and down spout leadoffs 3) Clogged or defective exterior french drains

4) Improper grading of the terrain 5) Poor soil draining (clay & shell) 6) High water table, etc. These are some causes of a leaking basement which can be remedied by an interior french drain.

How To Remedy a Basement Leak with Interior French Drain

Installation of an interior french drain relieves hydrostatic water pressure at the base of the foundation and under the basement floor. The french drain itself will eliminate water seepage under the footer, where the block touches the footer and it drains the water out of the foundation by applying weep holes to the block.
