NOVEMBER 2021
CHAMBER CENTRAL A PUBLICATION OF THE WESTMORELAND COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The Chamber hit the reset button on the 2021 Annual Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony on October 14, ushering in a new venue, new time, and upgraded format for this yearly signature event. Following an hour of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at Westmoreland County Community College, guests were pleasantly surprised to see—and hear—the Hempfield Area High School Marching Band’s Drumline energetically open the show with a rousing performance. Dan DeBone, Executive Director of the Chamber and event emcee, was soon to follow as he ran out onto the stage donning a referee shirt and blowing a whistle to begin the program. This was all in keeping with this year’s event theme Bounce Back. Dan explained, “Tonight we are celebrating the county’s comeback. 2021 has been a year of bouncing back for all of us here in Westmoreland County. The trials of 2020 have shown how everyone seeks not only to be their individual best, but also pull together as a team to help our community continue to be a great place to live, learn, work and play. As we con-
tinue to maintain current initiatives that have been successfully built under the exceptional leadership of Chad, we’re very excited to advance as well as introduce new programs, new information, new events and new tools that employers and employees can use to help them stay well informed, with one common theme—increasing our level of communications and support.” Dan soon welcomed to the podium the Chamber’s Chairwoman of the Board, Christina Jansure, who facilitated a brief business meeting for those in attendance. This included the announcement of additions to the Board of Directors for 2021, highlighting of the past year’s accomplishments and review of goals for the year ahead. She also announced the “passing of the gavel” to Brad Roth, McDowell Associates, who will assume the role of Board Chair beginning in January. Christina announced the addition of six new members and one returning member to the 2022 Board of Directors after a membership-wide vote. See Awards ● Page 6
