Overview As artificial intelligence (AI) technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), and large language models (LLMs) become more prevalent in both educational and personal environments, Westminster Public Schools is committed to ensuring their use reflects safety, ethics, and compliance with the law. This procedure aligns with: • Policy JS – Student Use of the Internet and Electronic Communication • Policy GBEE – Personnel Network Acceptable Use The goal is to cultivate a culture of digital integrity, promote responsible innovation, and maintain trust across our community.
Understanding AI Technologies AI technologies include, but are not limited to: Machine Learning | Algorithms that learn patterns from data (e.g., Netflix and Amazon recommendations). Deep Learning | A subset of machine learning that uses neural networks and large datasets with minimal human input (e.g., Siri, Alexa, autonomous vehicles). Natural Language Processing (NLP) | Enables computers to understand, interpret, and generate human language (e.g., chatbots, language translation). Large Language Models (LLMs) | Tools like ChatGPT that can generate and manage human-like text using advanced machine learning.
