Swashbuckler Regatta
Come join the 2nd Annual Standley Lake Swashbuckler
Scrimmage! The event is meant to bring paddlers of all abilities together. The morning will have rowing crews compete in a 5000 meter head race course. In the afternoon, kayakers and standup paddlers will do a sprint race of 1000 meters. This is a family-friendly event, welcoming children and parents to participate in small paddle crafts. All watercraft must be sprayed down at the spray station before it is allowed to be on the lake. We recommend participants give themselves plenty of time before the competition to prepare. AGES: 13+

The City of Westminster offers lessons for ages 3-12 in preparation for the Westy Waves Swim Team. Where you begin depends on age and experience in the water. Need help choosing where to sign your child up? Visit the website for detailed descriptions of each class.
Beginning Preschool Ages: 3–5
This class requires no water experience. Emphasizes safety and focuses on assisted floats, rolls, and gradual submersion. Fun water activities build trust and confidence.
Advanced Preschool Ages: 3–5
For students comfortable in the water. Work on unassisted floats, rolls, submersion while breathing out nose, and safe entry and exit of the water. Basic motor skills introduced.
Level 1 Ages: 6-12
Requires little to no water experience and introduces children 12 and under to the water. Emphasizes safety and focuses on unassisted floats, rolls, and submersion while breathing out nose, as well as safe entry/exit.
Level 2 Ages: 6-12
Builds on basic motor skills and introduces combined motor skills. Focus on combined leg and arm moveme nt, treading water, surface water exploration, underwater exploration, and water safety.
Level 3 Ages: 6-12
Water independence and intro to basic swim s trokes. Correct body position for strokes, intro to freestyle, backstroke, front and back glides, and rhythmic breathing. Completion of Level 3 requires students to do a 25-yard continuous swim without stopping or touching the bottom.
Level 4 Ages: 6-12
Intermediate swim strokes introduced. Focus on introducing breaststroke kick and dolphin kick, as well as improving upon freestyle and backstroke technique. Requires students to complete a 25-yard continuous swim without stopping or touching the bottom.
Refining advanced strokes. Breaststroke/butterfly strokes introduced. Includes deep water diving skills, block starts, continuous swimming, and treading water with different kicks.
Continuous swimming and refining competitive swimming Includes flip turns (front and back), block starts (front and back), and water safety rescues. Upon completion, students must do a 25-yard swim of each stroke (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) and swim 125 yards of a stroke of their choosing without stopping.

To receive a free library card, bring a government or school-issued photo ID and proof of your current Colorado address to either library location. Westminster is committed to giving all citizens equal access to recreation and leisure opportunities. Reasonable accommodations and inclusion opportunities are provided to individuals with disabilities in all city programs. ADA accommodations include sign language interpreters, program modifications, and inclusion support. Call 303-658-2219 at least 10 working days in advance of the date services are needed. A phone conference prior to the class/program may be held to better understand needs. Notification is appreciated if you are currently working with a school on an Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Buddy System
An individual with a disability may bring a non-disabled buddy for assistance in programs and daily facility use. The person with a disability pays the regular price and the buddy is admitted for free (a supply fee may be assessed in some classes/trips). Household Definition
A household includes two adults and dependent family members age 23 and younger in the same dwelling. City Park Fitness Center dependent family members must be 12-23 years old.
Westminster Resident Discount
Westminster residents qualify for discounts on recreation programs and services. Residents who wish to receive a discount at a Hyland Hills facility will need to purchase a Discount Card through Hyland Hills.
Photographs and Videos
Participants in any public facility, program, or event may be photographed or videotaped for use in city publications or promotional materials.
Changes and Cancellations
Occasionally programs may change. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and make every effort to notify participants. Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or loss of an instructor. An attempt is made to reschedule programs cancelled due to inclement weather, with the exception of swim lessons. Refunds or transfers are not guaranteed.
Children in Facilities
REC CENTER USE: Children 7 years old and younger must be accompanied by a supervising chaperone, age 15 years or older, who is in the same area.
POOL USE: Supervising chaperones must be 15 years or older. Children five and younger must be accompanied by a chaperone within arm’s reach of the children at all times. Children 6-7 years must be accompanied by a chaperone who is in the pool area. Limit of two children, 5 years and younger, per chaperone in the pool area.

Drop-in child care is available at City Park Fitness Center and West View Recreation Center for center users and class participants. Visit www.westminsterco.gov for details.
Scholarship and Reduced Rate Pass Program
The City of Westminster offers a reduced-rate program for facility passes and recreation programs to Westminster and Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District residents. Need for financial assistance can be due to medical expenses, loss of job or other hardship. Families/ individuals can enroll by completing a Scholarship/ Reduced Rate application available at any of the City’s recreation facilities.
Returned Payment Fees and Charges
When a payment received by the City is subsequently returned by the bank, the City assesses a service fee and any other applicable collection charge to the payer. A person may resubmit a dishonored payment by cash, certified check, and when permissible, payment card. However, if a second payment is dishonored by the bank, an additional penalty of thirty dollars ($30) will be assessed in addition to any other charges incurred by the City for the returned payment.

Online and General Registration Tips
• If you have done any business with our organization (registered for a class, bought a facility pass, reserved a birthday party, etc.), you already have a username and password. If you are unsure of those items, please contact any recreation center.
• If you try to create an account online and the system indicates that your address, phone number, email, etc. already exists, this means that you already have an account/household in the system. Please contact any recreation center for assistance.
• If you create an account/household online, the system will default your status to non-resident and charge the non-resident fees.
• Complete your registration form including activity code numbers.
• Sign the registration form and waiver.
• Make your check or money order payable to the City of Westminster or to the agency or company specified in the class description.
Please Note: Registration for some adult and youth sports programs do not follow the class registration schedule and procedures are listed in those sections.

Minimum/Maximum Enrollment
Early registration is recommended as many classes fill. Classes must reach the minimum enrollment three days prior to the first day of the class or the class is canceled. Participants are notified and transfers, refunds or credits are made.
Refund Guidelines
• If you are unable to attend a program/class, or the program does not meet your needs, the following refund guidelines apply:
• If you are unable to attend a class, please contact the city three days prior to the start date to guarantee a refund.
• If the city is unable to run a class, you will be refunded.
• Refunds take 10 to 14 working days to process. Verification of your address is recommended to ensure proper delivery.
• As a general practice the City does not encourage household credits. Credits held in household accounts will be automatically refunded on August 31. Credits that were a result from a payment made by check or cash will be refunded by a check. Credits that were a result from a payment made by credit or debit card will be refunded back to that card.
Refund Exclusions
Due to the design of some programs, refunds are not always possible. These programs include, but are not limited to: trips, team sports, and programs that required advance ticket purchases.
