Opening Welcome

Hello,

Welcome to a new academic year at WLC.

We are incredibly excited to open our doors again to new and returning students.

There’s a lot already planned ahead for the year and we cannot wait to see what you all think and get your ideas.

Have a read of the first edition of the newsletter to find out what’s happening and how to get involved.

Safeguarding is of utmost importance to us and we are focused on ensuring we do all we can to protect all of our learners.

If you ever have any concerns about yourself, or any other student you can email safeguarding@wlc.ac.uk, drop into student services or speak to your teacher.

We can offer support with a wide range of problems and if we can’t we will find someone who can.

Welcome to West London College, we are the Careers, Employability and Enrichment Team. We will be supporting you throughout the academic year enhancing your experience at the college and preparing you for the working world.

Thank you to everyone who attended our welcoming Freshers Fair events last week. It was great to meet so many of you with over 900 students attending.

Student Union and Student Governors

Applications to run for our Student Union and Student Governors are now closed. We had an impressive 62 applications, students who applied will now be working on their manifestos and starting their campaign week plans. Campaign week will run from Monday 3rd-Friday 7th October, you will then have the opportunity to vote for the candidates you believe will have a positive impact on your time at West London College. Keep an eye out for the candidates manifestos and campaigns over the next few weeks, votes will open Monday 14th October!

Bursary West London College

Hi, I hope you are all settling in well and enjoying your courses!

If you missed your induction, this is a little reminder that Student Services has a wide variety of financial support to help students come to college depending on their financial situation.

We want you to be able to make the most of your time at college and will do our best to help you meet your full potential.

Please make sure you sign up to the college bursary, you may be able to receive a contribution to help with the costs related to your course. In addition to this we offer a range of support packages to help contribute with the cost of kit, uniforms and childcare.

The college has an online system for applying for financial support called PayMyStudent, which can be accessed from any device i.e Tablet, PC/Laptop or mobile phone.

For new applicants:

To enable you to login and access PayMyStudent, you first need to set up an account. If you are already enrolled and know your student number, please register using this option by entering your date of birth and creating a password. Your student number can be found on your joining letter or on your student ID card.

Once you have registered, a verification link will be sent to you via your email (this may go into your spam/junk box). Once your account has been activated, you will then be taken back to the main portal page. You can now login using your details and password you created.

Access to PayMyStudent is only available once you have fully enrolled and have a Student ID Number. This online process enables you to complete the online application and submit the necessary evidence that will determine your eligibility for the bursary funds.
