SYDNEY GYMNASTIC AND AQUATIC CENTRE SPORTS ACADEMY LIMITED (the Academy)

2026 FUNDING POLICY

PURPOSE

The Sydney Gymnastic and Aquatic Centre Sports Academy Limited (Academy) was established in 2013 for the encouragement of sports including:

(i) the facilitation of involvement by the community in sports, focussing on youth interaction in physical activities and to promote health and fitness activities in the community; and

(ii) provide funding to establish, support and maintain programs that effectively teach and encourage young athletes to train and compete at a competitive level.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

SGAC Eligible Gymnast

1. The Academy will accept applications for Reimbursement from SGAC Eligible Gymnasts for:

(a) Program Fees;

(b) Travel Costs;

(c) Athlete Support Services; and

(d) Uniforms or Equipment.

2. The maximum amount of funding that an SGAC Eligible Gymnast may receive in a calendar year is governed by their Classification.

3. The funding for each Classification may be utilised by an SGAC Eligible Gymnast for any of the items listed in paragraphs (a)-(d) above.

4. The funding for each SGAC Eligible Gymnast will be allocated as to 50% for the period JanuaryJune and 50% for the period July-December in each calendar year.

5. If an SGAC Eligible Gymnast has been a member of SGAC for the entire calendar year, they will be able to carry forward any unused funding from the first half of the year into the second half of the year.

6. If an SGAC Eligible Gymnast has been a member of SGAC for part of the year, the funding amount available will be pro-rated based on their Classification and the period of time that they have been a member.

7. Any unused funding of an SGAC Eligible Gymnast will be forfeited at the end of each calendar year.

SGC/HPC Athlete

1. The Academy will accept applications from SGC/HPC Athletes for Reimbursement of Travel Costs based on their Classification

2. The maximum amount of funding that an SGC/HPC Athlete may receive in a calendar year is governed by their Classification.

3. The funding for an SGC/HPC Athlete may be utilised for Reimbursement of Travel Costs only.

4. The funding for each SGC/HPC Athlete will be allocated as to 50% for the period January-June and 50% for the period July-December in each calendar year.

5. If an SGC/HPC Athlete has been a member of SGC for the entire calendar year, they will be able to carry forward any unused funding from the first half of the year into the second half of the year.

6. If an SGC/HPC Athlete has been a member of SGC for part of the year, the funding amount available will be pro-rated based on their Classification and the period of time that they have been a member.

APPLICATIONS

Applications for Reimbursement:

(a) can only be made via https://www.sgac.com.au/classes/programs/sgac-sports-academy/;

(b) cannot be made for Travel Costs if an application has been made or funding received for Travel Costs from another organisation to subsidise the Eligible Gymnast at the Sanctioned Event;

(c) must be lodged within the Application Period that applies to the period during which the costs were incurred and must include the tax invoice and receipt for the Reimbursement being claimed; and

(d) will be reviewed and processed by the Academy within 14 days of the closure of the Application Period.

(e) If the application for Reimbursement is unsuccessful, the applicant will be notified of the reason for the outcome.

Entitlement to any Reimbursement will end immediately upon:

(a) an Eligible Gymnast ceasing to be a member of SGAC or SGC; or

(b) an Eligible Gymnast ceasing to train with and/or competing on behalf of SGAC or SGC; or

(c) the Academy, in its absolute discretion, determining that the Eligible Gymnast has engaged in conduct that does not reflect favourably on the Academy or the sport generally.

DEFINITIONS

Application Period means:

(a) for Reimbursements incurred during the period January to June in the calendar year:

(i) 15 – 22 March;

(ii) 15 – 22 June; and

(b) for Reimbursements incurred during the period July to December in the calendar year:

(i) 15 – 22 September; and (ii) 15 – 22 December.

Approved Provider means persons that provide the following services:

(i) Physiotherapy; (ii) Chiropractic care; (iii) Osteopath; (iv) Exercise Physiology; (v) Podiatrist;

(vi) Sports Massage

(vii) Nutritionist/Dietitian;

(viii) Sports mind coach / Sports psychologist; and (ix) Yoga / Pilates.

Athlete Support Services means the services provided by an Approved Provider to SGAC Eligible Gymnasts.

Classification means the classification of the Eligible Gymnast based on the following criteria:

Elite Attended SNR World Class Competition within the last 4 years (Olympics, Senior World Championships, World Games, Pac Rim) and considered future Olympic potential within the current cycle (2024-2028)

Gold TRP: 2025 Australian Representative / Junior Worlds within last 2 years

ACRO: 2025 Australian Representative / Junior Worlds within last 2 years

WAG: 2025 Australian Representative / Junior Worlds within last 2 years

MAG: 2025 Australian Representative / Junior Worlds within last 2 years

Silver TRP: 2025 National Squad Member / International Levels 2025 Australian National Champion, National Club Champion / Medalled at Sanctioned International event representing SGAC

ACR: 2025 National Squad Member / International Levels 2025 Australian National Champion, National Club Champion / Medalled at Sanctioned International event representing SGAC

WAG: 2025 National Squad Member / 2025 Australian National Champion, Border challenge champion, National Club Champion

MAG: 2025 National Squad Member / 2025 Australian National Champion, Border challenge champion, National Club Champion

Bronze TRP: 2025 International Levels Australian National Medallist / International Levels National Club Medallist / International Levels State Champion / Levels Australian National Champion

ACR: 2025 International Levels Australian National Medallist / International Levels National Club Medallist / International Levels State Champion / Levels Australian National Champion

WAG: 2025 Individual Australian National Medallist / Individual National Club Medallist / International Levels State Champion

MAG: 2025 Individual Australian National Medallist / Individual National Club Medallist / International Levels State Champion

SGC/HPC Athlete MAG: 2025 National Squad Member, Nationals or National Clubs Participant $500

Eligible Gymnast

means either an SGAC Eligible Gymnast or an SGC/HPC Athlete;

Equipment means and includes Trampoline shoes, hand bars, grips, sports tape, weights and magnesium chalk.

Program Fees

Reimbursement

Sanctioned Event

means the fees payable to SGAC in respect of competitive or elite gymnastics training programs including Acro, MAG, TRP and WAG, Team Gym programs.

means any amount sought to be reimbursed by the Academy for Program Fees, Travel Costs, Uniform or Athlete Support Services that are incurred by an Eligible Gymnast or their parent or guardian on their behalf.

means and includes an event that is sanctioned and held by Gymnastics NSW or Gymnastics Australia in Australia.

SGAC means Sydney Gymnastic and Aquatic Centre

SGAC Eligible Gymnast means:

(i) a gymnast that is a current financial member of SGAC; and

(ii) a gymnast competing as a representative of SGAC at a Sanctioned Event; and

(iii) a gymnast that has achieved a Classification.

SGC means Sydney Gymnastics Centre

SGC/HPC Athlete means:

(i) a gymnast that is a current member of SGC; and

(ii) a gymnast competing as a representative of SGC at a Sanctioned Event; and

(iii) a gymnast that has achieved a Classification.

Travel Costs

means and includes accommodation costs, flight costs and car hire incurred on behalf of the Eligible Gymnast for traveling to and competing at a Sanctioned Event for the duration of the event Note: International travel costs are excluded.

Uniform means and includes any clothing required for SGAC training and competition attire and State/ Met West and Australian attire.

The Academy will endeavour to favourably review all eligible Applications for Reimbursement throughout the year however the approval of applications will be subject to the Academy’s yearly funding allocations.

The decision of the Academy in relation to the Classification of Eligible Gymnasts will be final and binding and determined in its absolute discretion.

The Academy may vary, amend or revoke this Policy at any time, in its absolute discretion
