WHY GYMNASTICS FOR ALL? Gymnastics for All is for everybody. It’s the recreational entry point into gymnastics classes, where the basics of landing, rolling and being upside down are developed. We offer recreational classes for 5 year olds all the way to adults who are interested in gymnastics. Take on physical challenges and learn some new skills along the way. Our programs have been designed to cater for all stages of physical, social and cognitive development. As children progress and become more confident with these basic steps they are far more likely to continue doing other physical activity throughout their lifetime.

1

GYM FUN 5 - 7 YEARS Develop FUNdamental skills such as balance, coordination, endurance, and key shapes. Whilst the focus is on fun and participation, children will learn a wide range of skills such as handstands, cartwheels and rolls.

GYM SKILLS 7 - 11 YEARS Further develop skillspecific training to create a talent base where children can progress into developmental programs. This program focuses on specific components such as flexibility, muscular strength and power.

2

INTERMEDIATE GYM SKILLS INVITE ONLY Taking that next step in our recreational program, Gym Intermediate provides gymnasts who have successfully completed the skill testing process a more challenging session that still filled to the brim with fun.

ADVANCED GYM SKILLS INVITE ONLY Gym Advanced is those who have aced our skill testing process and are ready for a more challenging class.

3

TEEN SKILLS 13 - 17 YEARS Focus on improving overall fitness as well as develop gymnastics specific skills such as flexibility, coordination, strength, and conditioning. Sessions are similar to Gym Advanced but with a clear focus on fun and inclusivity.

ADULT GYM

18+ YEARS Adult classes are perfect for beginners to experienced ex-gymnasts. We tailor the session to your goals and provide advice and encouragement to see you succeed.

LEARN, REFINE, PERFORM At all levels of gymnastics, there is nothing quite like the thrill of learning a new skill. As part of our recreational program, we learn, refine and perform skills across all the gym sport apparatus. Our expert coaches spend week 1 and 2 incorporating 6 new skills into the session. Week 3 and 4 is for refining these 6 skills to ensure they are performance ready. Week 5 our coaches grade the skills and you will receive a progress report email. We then repeat the process weeks 6 - 10 with 6 new skills. That’s 48 new skills every year!

GRADING FAQ Will I still be able to access the 2023 Skill list and see my childs completed skills? You will still be able to see the skills your gymnast obtained in 2023 through the members portal.

Why did SGAC change the skill list for 2024? We are committed to providing the best program possible to all our members. We have reviewed the 2023 skill list and made changes to help development and skill acquisition. In the case of Advanced and Teen Skills, harder skills have been introduced to ensure every gymnast is being appropriately challenged. What happens if grading week falls on a public holiday? The grading will be postponed and rescheduled in a more appropriate week and we will communicate this to all members

UPGRADE Upgrading from your current class to the next level is subject to Completion of the Grading process Performances at the Gym Sport Competition Coaches and team leaders discretion We will contact you when your gymnast is ready to move up.

GYMSPORT COMPETITON Twice a year SGAC hold an In-House Gymnastics Competition. This competition allows our recreational and non competitive gym sport programs the opportunity to compete in a pressure free and fun environment. This event is a great way for the gymnasts to show the result of their hard work during the year and most gymnasts find competing very rewarding and enjoy the experience. Gymnasts will learn a series of routines during their weekly classes and are then given the opportunity to register in the weeks prior to the event. They will perform a routine on each apparatus and be rewarded with certificates, ribbons, medals and/or trophies for their efforts.
