Stay Safe West Geauga

The start of the 2020-21 school year will look different from any previous year. Our goal is to start school as close to “normal” as possible. We understand that some families may be at higher risk and may wish to explore a virtual solution. West Geauga Local Schools are committed to providing the highest quality education for all our students. It is essential that those families considering a virtual experience due to health considerations communicate with the district as soon as possible. We are establishing protocols for social distancing, class size, sanitizing of facilities, and the use of masks and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). With the Governor’s guidelines, we will be implementing these safety processes and procedures to keep all of our West Geauga Community safe. The district has also created the West Geauga Restart Task Force of teachers, support staff, parents, administrators, first responders, The Geauga Public Health Department, and University Hospitals for guidance. West Geauga Welcomes Newbury

As of July 1, 2020, Newbury Township is now a part of the West Geauga Local Schools community. We welcome all of the students, families, and community members. Much work has been done to make this transition smooth for all involved.

Several committees have worked in the months prior to the school shut down to prepare. Our athletic teams have begun summer workouts, welcoming many new teammates. The Newbury Memorabilia Committee has ordered an electronic Wall of Fame to commemorate memorabilia from Newbury’s longstanding history of athletic achievement. This will be displayed in the athletic wing of the West Geauga High School. Welcome to West G, Newbury!

Class of 2020 Graduation

The 2020 Graduation at West Geauga High School had a much different look than in previous years. Due to the COVID-19 guidelines, it was not possible to conduct the traditional ceremony at a large theater or stadium. Principal Jay Bishop created a plan which gave each student and family a different, but equally special, experience.
