BUILD YOUR

OWN MAJOR

Through Western’s Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies, students can design their own majors, called interdisciplinary concentrations. Fairhaven faculty work closely with students through intensive advising and classes of 15-20 students. Curriculum focuses on social and environmental justice and environmental justice and diversity.

Admission Requirements

• Application for admission and scholarships

• Official academic transcripts from all colleges, universities and/ or secondary schools attended

• Evidence of English language proficiency, including one of the following*:

• TOEFL (iBT) recommended score of 79 or higher, 76 required

• IELTS recommended score of 6.5 or higher, 6.0 required

• Duolingo English Test recommended score of 110 or higher, 105 required

• “B” or 3.0 in two college-level English composition courses at a U.S. college/university

*If you don’t meet these requirements, you may still be eligible for conditional admission

• Declaration of Financial Responsibility on the application for admission (Note: U.S. federal regulations requires all international applicants to provide sufficient proof of funds to cover the yearly cost for tuition and estimated living expenses before a form I-20 can be issued. You are encouraged to upload your financial documents with your application.)

Guaranteed Admission and Conditional Admission

Guaranteed: Western has many community college partners throughout the state of Washington. Visit admissions.wwu.edu/ international/transfer-credits to determine if your college has a guaranteed admission agreement with Western.

Conditional: Students who do not yet meet the English language requirement may apply for Conditional Admission and begin their studies in our Intensive Language Program before moving on to their undergraduate degree program. Visit wwu.edu/iep for more information.
