Western Landcare NSW (WLNSW) is thrilled to announce the appointment of a new Chair at our June 2025 board meeting.
Lawrence Clarke is a name many people know through his advisory role on a several boards, including Western Local Land Services (WLLS) and the NSW Environmental Protection Agency (NSW EPA).
In his role as Chair of Western Aboriginal Community Advisory Group (ACAG) and Deputy Chair of Mount Grenfell Historic Site, Lawrence brings deep insight, cross cultural connections, and extensive traditional landcare experience to share with landcarers right across the Western Region.
Born in Lake Cargelligo, Lawrence is a Ngiyampaa/Barkindji man who now resides in Hillston - ‘Melnunni’ meaning red soil – land of the Wiradjuri people.
Lawrence joins our dedicated team to guide WLNSW in a direction that continues to support sustainable agriculture through community led land restoration and regeneration projects.
As a supporter of our recent Community Conversation Camp, there will be more opportunities to join our team and stakeholders around a campfire to share thoughts about what matters most to Western region landcaring residents – a sustainable future.
Want to find out about our future events, projects or how to join Western Landcare NSW?
Reach out to your Local Landcare Coordinator, HERE.
As Lawrence settles into the WLNSW Chair position to discuss board nomination applications with Vice Chair, Paul Heley, Secretary, Sharon Hocking and Treasurer, Mikaela Rasmus, our Local Landcare Coordinators (LLC) are busy around the region engaging with our 22 member groups
Along with helping WLNSW’s member groups to meet the requirements of being an incorporated group, such as holding an annual AGM, LLC’s perform many tasks.
Travelling vast distances, they promote WLNSW and stakeholder services, sharing information and contacts at shows, gymkhanas and other community events LLC’s also host a variety of workshops and support WLNSW group members to prepare grant applications for a range of projects and/or events that serve the unique needs of each remote community
The 2023-2027 Landcare Enabling Program provides an opportunity for Western Landcare to partner with a range of stakeholders across 40% of NSW. These partnerships continue to explore technologies and methods to support natural resource management (NRM) practises that help secure a firm foundation for a sustainable future. Listening to landcarers – landholders, land managers, and all nature positive stakeholders across this vast outback region – is our duty. WLNSW has access to resources that could help to develop your landcaring vision, so if you’d like a chat with a coordinator in your area, you’ll find their details on the Western Landcare NSW website.
Until next month, stay warm and well… and be sure to get your entries in for the 2025 Life & Light Photography Competition!
