WIU reviews credit from any regionally accredited institution all over the country. Official transcripts are required for transfer credit.
Remedial Coursework
Counted toward the minimum credits needed for admission but does not count toward transfer credit. Counted toward GPA.
WIU reviews credits completed through military training, dual credit, Advanced Placement, College-Level Equivalency, and International Baccalaureate programs.
All WIU Transfer Scholarships have an application priority deadline of August 1 for Fall 2026 and January 1 for Spring 2026 and are awarded on a first come, first served basis subject to the availability of funding. Students must be registered by August 28 for fall and January 23 for spring.
There is no deadline for admissions applications but you will not be able to register after the first week of classes.
WIU accepts unofficial and official transcripts to make an admissions decision. Official transcripts are sent directly from each previous school. Official transcripts are required to register for classes. All final official transcripts from each previous school must be on file with WIU prior to the term in which you intend to start classes.
Students with an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from any regionally accredited college in the United States will enter Western with their University General Education requirements met and be guaranteed admission.
