MEANDARRA
Located 88km South-West of Dalby, Tara’s economy has its origins in grain, beef and wool production but has since diversified to include the production of organic produce and is now the largest prime lamb producing area in Queensland. Tara is experiencing an economic windfall with significant gas exploration taking place within the district. The Tara Festival of Culture and Camel Races held every second year attracts thousands of visitors to the town. For more information on what Tara has to offer, please contact the Tara Customer Service Centre.
Located 63km West of Tara, Meandarra is home to a $1.2 million ANZAC Memorial Museum. The Meandarra ANZAC Memorial Museum is one of two such museums in Australia and houses a treasure trove of memorabilia, from equipment of the Light Horse Brigade through to armoured personnel carriers, gun carriers, amphibious craft, tanks, a complete Canberra Bomber aircraft and even the motor from a German U-boat submarine.
