Being a small business, Sugar Gum Lane has the flexibility to accommodate the varied needs of families.

“Through my nursing employment, I became aware of many incidents where NDIS patients were unable to access short-term accommodation (respite) while their carers were hospitalised,” Ondrea said.

“Or cases were carers were unable to access respite provided by support workers skilled in managing complex medical needs such as seizure management, PEG feeds, catheter management, along with management of unpacked medications.”

Working with NDIS clients in the health care system inspired Ondrea to address
