During registration in July, each family had an option for how tuition will be paid for the school year. If your family chooses to drop off monthly checks, there is a drop box in the office in which checks can be placed.

WHAT IS THE ABSENCE POLICY?

After registration, your freshman student will be assigned a USERNAME & PASSWORD. Your family will also receive a separate USERNAME & PASSWORD to utilize JMC. If you cannot locate your contact information for JMC via email or have troubles using JMC, please contact the office as needed for assistance.

We highly recommend continually checking your JMC account to stay up to date with the following:

- The student stops in the office to pick up an absent slip.

- Student shows slip to each classroom teacher to find out what information they will be missing PRIOR to leaving.

- Student completes assignments/test before the absence occurs at the assignment of the teacher. If your child needs to leave school during the school day, it is YOUR responsibility to contact the school. That procedure is as follows:

- Parent/Guardian will call (712-439-1013) or email the school (attendance@westernchristianhs.com).

- In the case of weather-related late starts or school closures, families can be notified through JMC.

WE ARE SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE

- The student checks out through the office when leaving by filling out the checkout sheet. Students are responsible for filling out their attendance cards in the office when absent for any amount of time. When students are absent for a co-curricular activity, they do not need to pick up an absent slip from the office, but students are expected to be responsible in visiting their classroom teachers before exiting.

DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE STATE POLICY?

- Students are encouraged to keep all valuables in their assigned locker. As WC is not responsible for stolen items, we discourage students using locker rooms to store any valuable items.

- Students will be issued a parking tag if they are driving to school and parking in student parking (North of WC or East of WC in the church parking lot). Failure to display this results in a $10 fine. Students are only permitted to go to their vehicles with a chaperon during school hours

- All students are required to dress modestly without violating Christian standards of decency. Please visit our webpage to review the dress code in the Parent-Student Handbook with your student. The following items are NOT permitted:

◦ No offensive language, pictures, or alcohol/tobacco.

QUESTIONS? VISIT OUR WEBSITE FIRST!

Did you know that a quick visit to our webpage (westernchristianhs.com) could answer your questions faster than a phone call? The majority of answers can be found on our webpage, such as daily announcements, activity calendars, lunch menus, & more!

◦ Clothing should always be neat and clean (no holes!).

◦ Footwear must be worn at all school functions.

◦ Shorts will be permitted throughout the year; they are expected to be modest in fit and length.

A quick scroll to the bottom of our webpage can connect you to our most recent news, and quick links to all of our active social media pages! Students are encouraged to be fully present during the school hours at Western Christian. We understand that students will bring their phones/watches for travel emergencies, after-school responsibilities, and activities. The following outlines our expectations:

- As students arrive, they will place their devices in their designated phone slot near the front office.

- Each student will be assigned their own slot.

- Devices MUST BE TURNED OFF prior to first period. This policy will help our Attendance Director track tardies & daily attendance.

- Devices are expected to be picked up from their slots after the final bell at the end of the day.

BYOT DEVICE DETAILS & SCHOOL SUPPLIES

- Students will NOT be permitted to have the - following devices during the school day: Android Tablet, Chromebook, Windows Surface RT,

- Windows 10 Version S, or any iPads.

- Suggested accessories include a case/cover, earbuds, & dual-band wireless adapters (Windows only!)

- Students will benefit from the following school supplies: graphic calculators, pens, pencils & notebooks. Folders & planners are also highly encouraged to help students keep their papers & schedules organized.

- WC offers an excellent food services program that includes daily hot lunch and before school breakfast options. Lunch is $5.00 per meal, and students have the option to purchase an extra entree or sides, fruit, bread, and milk (price varies by item). Any student who is unable to drink milk due to a medical reason can put a doctor's note on file and juice will be available for lunch. Breakfast items differ from day to day, including breakfast pizza, breakfast burritos, muffins, yogurt parfaits, and drinks.

- All student purchases will be noted on the student lunch account in JMC. We ask all families to keep a positive balance in their lunch account, and we send out reminders when accounts are getting low.

- The food services program is not subsidized by the government as many of our area grade schools are, so is completely funded by hot lunch payments. Our kitchen staff works hard to provide delicious, nutritious, cost-concise food and beverage options for our students!
