West Chester Township’s 2024 Operational Budget of about $58.4 million, a 6.8% increase from 2023, was presented to the public at a Jan. 30, 2024 Board of Trustees Work Session.
Of the $58.4 million in budgeted expenditures, nearly 67.6% are assigned to public safety (police, fire and emergency communications) and 12.8% is allocated to roads and infrastructure.
Revenue projections for all primary funds in 2024 are approximately $48.9 million. While expenditures are greater than revenue projections, all expenses are within available resources.
The General Fund and Roads Funds revenue is reduced by about $1 million as a result of foregoing a portion of property taxes that would have been collected based on new increased property valuations. Police and Fire voter-approved millages do not increase with property value increases, therefore they are not impacted. The Board of Trustees’ action to forego the increase saves the average West Chester taxpayer an estimated $10.15 per $100,000 of valuation in 2024.
