EMC News – A list of cuts to the way the Ontario government provides services is a good start, but a local MPP thinks the Drummond report could have cut deeper. “Based on what I know‌I think it is a pretty good report. It focuses on the big things like health care and education as it should,â€? said CarletonMississippi Mills Progressive Conservative MPP Jack MacLaren. “It does not throw the baby out with the bath water, so the speak, but there are certainly a lot of tough decisions and a lot tough goals to meet to eliminate our deficit and start working on our debt... We have to face the music and pay the bills, MacLaren noted. “I like a lot of what is in this report. In health care, the MPP says he is allowing for a spending increase up to two and a half per cent but only up to 2017. He is in favour of putting more power into the LHINs. “The reason for that, as I understand it, as that LHIN’s are local bodies and more power and more authority to study and look for efficiencies or inefficiencies and to decide where the appropriate See MACLAREN page 3
