LEADER AWARD West Carleton-March Coun. Eli El-Chantiry honoured by city’s Lebanese community.

Some skeletons were spotted at the West Carleton Family Health Team’s (WCFHT) office this Halloween. A brand new analog X-ray machine was plugged in at the X-ray clinic in Carp on Oct. 31, bought with funds raised by the West Carleton Health Access Foundation (WCHAF), a local non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care in the area. The clinic’s previous machine was old, ailing, and notorious for breaking down. Although technicians were sometimes able to mend the machine, when it broke down in August, there was no fixing it. Now, X-ray technologist Sandra Evans said the old machine is right where it belongs. “It’s in the garbage, she said. “It was no good for anything anymore. The old machine was removed, a new floor installed and the walls painted in preparation for the new machine that arrived on Oct. 17. Installation began on Oct. 27, and by Oct. 31, the machine was ready for use. The purchase of the new analogue X-ray machine marks the completion of phase one in a four-phased project run by the foundation. The previous machine was stationary and required patients to use a stool to raise themselves onto the table.
