Some say the Covid pandemic raised concerns when the entire country was in lockdown and has prompted a growing number of individuals to seek out a place to live that is outside of the city. With Texas land being 95% privately owned, it makes sense that people are retreating to our state to find large rural acreage for a more relaxed style of living, where one does not have to worry about social distancing, or a large population of people gathered in one place. “These developments mark one of the most active times in the history of Texas land markets as urban-based buyers seek out rural retreats,” said Gilliland. Currently, it is predicted that we will continue to see record growth in land and ranch sales in the third and fourth quarter of 2021. Whether this trend will continue after 2021 is yet to be determined. However, for land and ranch owners, we are hopeful that the rise in land prices is only just the beginning.
