WESLEY PREP’S YELLOW CHAIR PHILOSOPHY

We are committed to doing what is best for children.

The very first classroom chairs at Wesley Prep were little yellow chairs, and the former executive director kept one in her office to remind her of the children who sit in those chairs when making difficult decisions.

The Yellow Chair is our reminder to always keep in mind who sits in that chair and to ensure that we make decisions based on what is right and best for children – even when it is inconvenient for the adults.

AUCTION 2025: THE GREAT GATSBY

HEAD OF SCHOOL MESSAGE

Dear Wesley Prep Families,

As I reflect on this remarkable school year, I am filled with gratitude and pride for all that our students, faculty, and community have accomplished together. Our students have thrived in classrooms filled with curiosity, compassion, and challenge. They have led with heart, embraced new ideas, and demonstrated resilience and joy in every endeavor—from robotics competitions and musical productions to chapel leadership and community outreach. These moments are not just milestones, they are the building blocks of character and confidence that will carry our students forward.

This year, we are especially inspired by our final graduating sixth-grade class. These students embodied the very best of Wesley Prep’s values and mission through their leadership in numerous school-wide service projects. They also served as mentors and role models to our younger students, building meaningful relationships that fostered a sense of belonging and community across grade levels. Their presence was a steady source of encouragement and inspiration, and their legacy of compassion, leadership, and service to others will continue to shape our school for years to come.

We are also deeply grateful for the incredible generosity and support of our community during this school year. Thanks to your unwavering commitment, we celebrated our most successful fundraising year yet. These contributions directly enhance the student experience—supporting classroom innovation, faculty development, campus improvements, and so much more. Your investment in Wesley Prep not only sustains our mission but empowers us to dream bigger. Thank you for believing in our vision and for being an essential part of our continued growth.

This year also marked several exciting milestones for our school. We unveiled a refreshed Wesley Prep logo that clearly communicates who we are—a long-standing and established school rooted in our Methodist identity and Christian foundation. We successfully met all ISAS (Independent Schools Association of the Southwest) standards and are proud to have moved into the Recognition for Candidacy Stage, a significant step forward in our accreditation journey with ISAS. In preparation for the next phase, we will launch a full-scale self-study in 2025-2026—an opportunity to reflect deeply on our strengths and areas for growth.

We also introduced a revised mission statement that more clearly reflects who we are and what we aspire to be as a school community. Alongside this, we developed a comprehensive strategic plan to guide our growth and define our organizational priorities. This plan honors our community’s cherished traditions while laying the groundwork for a sustainable future and inspiring us to imagine new possibilities for Wesley Prep. Implementation of the new strategic plan begins next school year, and we are energized by the clarity, purpose, and momentum it brings to our shared vision.

Perhaps most exciting of all, we are preparing to launch our 7th grade program in the fall of 2026—an important milestone as we expand to include both seventh and eighth grades. This growth reflects Wesley Prep’s commitment to doing what is best for students and their development. By expanding to include seventh and eighth grades, we honor that commitment, ensuring continuity, care, and a nurturing environment to guide students through these formative middle school years. Rooted in academic excellence, spiritual growth, and whole-child development, our Middle School program is designed to build on the strong foundation of Wesley Prep while preparing students for the future with confidence and purpose. We look forward to sharing more about the seventh and eighth grades at an information event in September.

We are building something extraordinary together—a place where students are known, challenged, and inspired every day. Thank you for your continued partnership, trust, and support. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds.

With gratitude and joy,

MISSION STATEMENT REVIEW PROCESS

• In August 2024, Wesley Prep partnered with Mission & Data, an educational governance consulting firm. A task force composed of trustees, faculty, and members of the administration was established.

• In September, a mission survey was distributed to faculty, staff, and trustees. A mission review retreat was subsequently conducted with the Board of Trustees, task force members, and the school leadership team.

• Additionally, small group discussions were held with faculty and staff, and Mission & Data partners were hosted for a site visit in October, which included student focus groups and classroom observations.

• Throughout December, the task force convened multiple times to review and analyze data collected from surveys, focus groups, and the retreat, identifying key themes. Based on this analysis, the core elements fundamental to Wesley Prep were identified. A designated writing group then developed several versions of the mission statement. Feedback was solicited from the task force, faculty, staff, and trustees to refine the draft.

In February 2025, we launched a strategic planning task force led by Mission & Data advisors and composed of trustees, faculty, and administrators. We held a strategic planning retreat that brought together the Board of Trustees, task force members, and the school leadership team. In March, we distributed a comprehensive survey to faculty, staff, trustees, and parents to gather broad community input. Through the spring, the task force met regularly to analyze data from surveys, focus groups, and the retreat, identifying key themes that reflect our community’s shared values and aspirations. From this work, we developed a set of strategic pillars that define Wesley Prep’s organizational priorities. We then gathered feedback from the Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff, which informed the drafting of goal statements and priorities by a dedicated writing group. After a second round of feedback and refinement, the final strategic plan was submitted and approved by the Board of Trustees in June. We look forward to sharing the strategic plan with the community in the fall.

7th & 8th GRADE TASK FORCE WORK

Following the Board’s September 2024 vote to expand to include 7th and 8th grades, the Academic and Program Design Task Force expanded and refined the initial program framework completed the previous year, launching a comprehensive planning initiative to further define the academic structure, enrichment opportunities, and student experiences that will shape the new middle school program. The team conducted further research into middle school program design, exploring a wide range of curriculum models, enrichment and elective opportunities, extracurricular activities and clubs, world language offerings, and class trip options. The task force visited other schools and engaged in conversations with experienced middle school educators to gather insights and best practices. In parallel, Wells Adams, Wesley Prep’s Athletic Director, conducted a thorough review of middle school athletic leagues to ensure alignment with student and family interests, positioning the school to offer engaging sports opportunities. The resulting 7th and 8th grade program builds upon Wesley Prep’s strong elementary foundation and is rooted in the pillars of academic excellence, faith, leadership, service, and experiences beyond the classroom.

The task force also prioritized community engagement, soliciting feedback from current parents through dedicated coffees and parent meetings. These sessions provided a platform for sharing information, addressing questions, and incorporating valuable parent input into the planning process. The culmination of this work is the creation of a comprehensive 7th and 8th Grade Curriculum Guide, which will be shared with all families on September 10 at an informational meeting. Additionally, the Facilities Task Force has been working closely with the LLUMC staff and facilities committee to coordinate space usage, with preparations underway to ready 2nd floor classrooms in the Christ Family Center. This collaborative and thoughtful approach ensures a strong launch for our middle school program and reflects Wesley Prep’s commitment to excellence and community partnership.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL Kicking Off The Year Photos

BUILDING BRAINS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD

Dear Wesley Prep Families,

The 2024–25 school year was a joyful journey of adventure, discovery, and growth for our Early Childhood Panthers.

Thanks to the dedication, heart, and talent of our teachers and staff, every child experienced a nurturing and enriching year at Wesley Prep. Whether it was their first step into a classroom or their final year of preschool, our students were immersed in an environment that fostered curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.

We were thrilled to continue cherished Early Childhood traditions that invite families into the magic of our school. From everyday drop-offs and pick-ups to special events like the PreK 3 Fair Day, Nursery and Toddler End-of-Year Party, Donuts with Dads, and Preschool chapel services— each moment offered a window into the vibrant life of our community. The halls echoed with laughter and wonder as we celebrated learning through the eyes of our children.

Throughout the year, we witnessed remarkable growth across all age levels:

• Nursery and Toddler students took first steps, formed first sentences, and met important motor milestones. Through Baby Doll Circle Time and Music and Movement with Miss Betty, they developed empathy, community awareness, and executive functioning skills.

• PreK 2.5 students embraced their first structured school schedule, traveling to enrichment classes, enjoying dance parties in chapel, and exploring the bigger playground. In the classroom, they found their voices through circle time and art, building independence, and expressing their God-given creativity.

• PreK 3 students gained confidence through their debut performance in the Thankful Threes program—an introduction to the student-led presentations that are a hallmark of the Wesley Prep experience. These moments instill pride, preparation, and a sense of accomplishment.

• PreK 4 students shined in the Nativity performance and honored their mothers at the Mother’s Day Brunch. A favorite unit returned this year as students explored God’s creation of the human body, building hands-on models to understand its intricate systems.

At Wesley Prep, our Early Childhood program is intentionally child-centered. Our faculty approaches this critical developmental stage with passion and purpose, guiding children through foundational growth with care and expertise. This year, we proudly introduced the Really Great Reading phonics curriculum in PreK 4 and expanded enrichment offerings to include Science Lab—enhancing our commitment to wholechild development through trusted curricula and learning that is rich through experience and play.

In alignment with our Yellow Chair philosophy, we’ve continued to strengthen our support network and professional growth. Each teacher visited an older Early Childhood or Kindergarten classroom to observe a colleague’s talents to inspire fresh ideas in their own lessons and encourage vertical alignment in instruction. Over the past three years, we’ve added four new faculty positions dedicated to student support, deepened collaboration with our school counselor, and expanded access to learning specialists for both teachers and parents.

We are deeply grateful for the partnership of our families. It is an honor to walk alongside you in this parenting journey—growing confident, compassionate learners who feel a strong sense of belonging and who are inspired to become their personal best.

With JOY,

LOOKING AHEAD

FOSTERING GROWTH IN ELEMENTARY

Dear Wesley Prep Families,

It has been another incredible year at Wesley Prep! Our campus has been alive with joyful learning, creativity, and purpose. Every day, our students engaged in rich, experiential learning that challenged their minds, nurtured their hearts, and inspired their curiosity. Across all grade levels, we’ve witnessed growth, achievement, and moments of profound community connection.

This year, our students shined in the arts, delivering remarkable musical and theatrical performances that reflected both their talent and hard work. From Kindergarten’s charming "Magical Me", to Primer through 2nd grade’s beautiful "A Little Night Music," to 3rd grade’s lively Seussical Jr., and culminating in 4th–6th grade’s stunning production of The Little Mermaid Jr., each performance was a true celebration of creativity and collaboration.

Equally inspiring was our students’ leadership in service and outreach. Their compassionate hearts were evident in every project: assembling 100 Hurricane Relief buckets, filling the shelves of the Children’s Medical Center library with hundreds of new books, raising funds and gifts for six children through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree, and collecting over 800 canned goods for the North Texas Food Bank. These acts of service not only made a tangible difference—they also reflected the character-driven foundation of a Wesley Prep education.

Our students also excelled in academic and extracurricular arenas. We celebrated strong placements in the First LEGO League Robotics competition, showcased over 1,000 original student artworks during our Art Show, and cheered for our athletes during outstanding seasons in volleyball, football, basketball, soccer, and track. We ended the year on a high

note with a joyful Panther Pride Day in memory of beloved Coach Kennedy—a true testament to our vibrant school spirit.

Academically, our students once again excelled on standardized assessments. Across every subject, our 3rd–6th graders consistently surpassed grade-level expectations. Most impressively, our 6th graders earned an average composite score equivalent to the 11th grade, 7th month— an extraordinary reflection of the strong academic foundation built during their years at Wesley Prep.

But numbers tell only part of the story. The true evidence of learning reveals itself in moments that can’t be quantified: in the confident speech of a 5th grader bringing a historical figure to life at our American History Wax Museum exhibit during Night at the Museum; in the creative problem solving and collaboration of our robotics team; and in the quiet pride of a 1st grader reading her letter to a veteran during the Veterans Day Chapel her grade hosted.

At Wesley Prep, learning is not just measured—it’s lived. And we celebrate that every single day.

Alongside our students’ many successes, we also have much to celebrate as a school community. Under the visionary leadership of Head of School Meg Fahrenbrook and with strong support from the Board of Trustees, we’ve adopted a new mission statement that captures the heart of our school:

"Inspiring confident and joyful learners guided by character, curiosity, and purpose."

This mission now serves as our north star, guiding the development of key documents such as our Philosophy of Education, Portrait of a Graduate, and Portrait of a Wesley Prep Educator. These foundational pieces help clearly articulate who we are, what we believe, and how we bring our mission to life in every classroom.

In addition, we’ve made exciting progress on several strategic initiatives. We developed a comprehensive, living Kindergarten through 6th grade scope and sequence that maps out what we teach at each level. We've also engaged in thoughtful data collection and analysis from all stakeholders to inform a new strategic plan, which we look forward to launching in the coming year.

A particularly meaningful milestone was completing the first stage of the ISAS accreditation process—a long-term goal for Wesley Prep. We are energized by the opportunity to join a network of exceptional schools and continue to elevate the high standards we set for ourselves.

Finally, this year marked a significant step forward for Wesley Prep’s future: the thoughtful and communityinformed planning for 7th and 8th grades. Our teachers and leaders have worked diligently—surveying families and students, visiting model schools, and crafting an intentional and robust course guide. Through ongoing dialogue and shared vision with our families, we are proud to officially launch Wesley Prep Middle School in August 2026. The enthusiasm around this expansion contributed to our most successful admissions season to date, and we are eager to extend the same level of excellence to our future middle school students.

Thank you, as always, for your partnership. Your support, involvement, and belief in our mission make everything we do possible. It is a joy and a privilege to be on this educational journey with you and your children.

With gratitude,

STANDARDIZED TESTING RESULTS

ITBS TESTING DATA 2025

Wesley Prep is committed to maintaining a missionaligned and robust academic program. The results shared in the chart and graphs affirm that Wesley Prep students are excelling academically. Our third-sixth grade students performed significantly above national grade-level expectations. These remarkable scores highlight both the strength of our academic program and the hard work of our students and teachers.

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

God spoke: “Let

us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature…"

(Genesis 1:26)

And then God breathed into us the breath of life. Holy CPR, if you will. However you read the creation narratives, those stories play a role in the Spiritual Life of Wesley Prep. We believe each student inherently has the breath of God within them—Ruach Elohim—the Spirit of God.

This understanding is explored in daily chapel and in the Spiritual Life classes in which the 5th and 6th graders (and soon 7th and 8th) participate. We know it is a blessing to acknowledge that we are Children of God. We also know with blessings come responsibility. In Chapel, we often reflect on the foundation the prophet Micah laid before us with the question: “What does the Lord require of you?” (Micah 6:8) The answer guides us into discussions of justice and fairness, what does agape love mean, and how do we walk with God each day?

That walk is our journey at Wesley Prep.

In the Gospel of Matthew, the Great Teacher Jesus gives us a lesson for the journey. The Message version of the scripture says: “Here is a simple rule-of-thumb for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them.” (Matthew 7:12)

This lesson is far reaching. It is reflected in how we try to treat each other as The Family Wesley Prep. Love with mercy and grace, given to each other, is the goal. We also know that God’s Love does not stop at our walls, that each person we meet is a Child of God—whether they know it or not—we do.

Therefore, outreach, with the blessings we have, is a part of our responsibility. We “grab the initiative” and help those in the community believing as Christ teaches us, “Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:40)

Dr. Lisa Miller, author of The Spiritual Child, talks about the spiritual core of a child. The Spiritual Core is inherent and can be strengthened. At Wesley Prep, we give recognition to the spiritual worth of each child. That is the work of the Spiritual Life of Wesley Prep. That is the JOY! of Wesley Prep. Surrounded by safety, found in a family that loves and only wants the best for each other, we engage in an exploration of the gifts and talents The Creator has given to us, asking: Where can we, as co-creators with God, add to the love, grace and wonder of the world, using those blessings which God has gifted to us.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Dear Wesley Prep Families

It has been my privilege to serve as the Chair of the Wesley Prep Board of Trustees for the past two years. I appreciate the support you have provided to Wesley Prep and the Board throughout the past year. We have many things to celebrate thanks to your continued support.

The fiduciary duty of the Wesley Prep Board is to oversee the well-being and financial health of the School. We do this by reviewing the budget and financial decisions, assisting with strategic planning, and through support and evaluation of our Head of School, Meg Fahrenbrook.

The Board of Trustees is comprised of 23 volunteer members serving staggered three-year terms. The Board consists of approximately one-third each: Wesley Prep parents, Lovers Lane United Methodist Church members, and trustees who are both parents and LLUMC members.

The Board works closely with LLUMC and the Administration team at Wesley Prep to elevate and execute the Wesley Prep experience. As a school and a Board, we have many exciting initiatives to celebrate this year:

• The Expansion to 7th/8th Grade beginning August 2026

• A revitalization of the Mission Statement

• New Strategic Plan beginning August 2025

• Application for the next level of Accreditation to ISAS

I want to give special thanks to all of you for the countless volunteer hours you have put in to support our school and events. We cannot do it without you. We look forward to an exciting year as we prepare for expansion and accreditation to set us up for years to come!
